Bitcoin or Altcoins? Which is safer or more profitable?

I'm looking at the issue from two angle. One is that bitcoin generates fast income in the short term because of volatility but imagine where you invest in an altcoin for like $0.20 and in 6months, the same  single unit is valued at $200  .

I think I like altcoin for a long run, I want big money

The choice between bitcoin and other crypto-currencies depends on how much you are willing to risk your capital. If you choose a safe option, then surely I would choose bitcoin. But if you want to have a big income and take a chance, you can look at the altcoyins. Now there are a lot of interesting projects. In crypto-economics one can only rely on oneself. If you can choose a prospective project and are lucky enough, you can have a good income and a lot of xxx to your capital.

Both bitcoins and altcoins have the same potentials to give good gains. Bitcoin is more expensive than altcoins, so with the same amount of money you could buy more altcoins. But the profit could be approximately the same, unless you buy lots of a very cheap altcoin that rises a few thousand percent. So, it depends on how smart you trade.

Although bitcoin can be consider as more profitable, but still there may be some good potential altcoin which can also be more profitable. We just need to study the market and recognize such altcoin which can give us good profit. To that we need to spend good time in altcoin market to get some good time in altcoin trading and can do trade in right time.

By the way, I wanted to say at the expense of the etherium. The founder himself says that the etherium is not a crypto currency, and at the moment its price is very high. This is due to speculation in the market. Just do not forget that the emission of the etherium is not limited. At any time, new coins can come to the market and lower its value.

I thought that only Bitcoin investment was enough for the beginning.  From last year i realized that it is necessary to invest in Bitcoin, Ethereum and altcoins together. It makes more sense to spread the risk in this way.

there is no such a certain thing as safer or profitable. there are ups and downs. we all are learning their trends, reactions and motivation behind their "raison d'etre". we can say there are lots of altcoins now and most of them won't survive, however bitcoin will be lasting probably. so, it can be seen as much safer but when it comes to profit, it depends.

Yes that is right to say that risk of losing money is always there  in trading or i think if we compare the two then we can say that bitcoin is a little more safer than any other altcoin. although there are some other altcoin which can be consider as safer but still i think that most of the people are putting more trust on bitcoin as compare to any other crypto currency.

Despite the current downtrend in the market, I think there are many investment options that will be very profitable in the long term. I think that rather than focusing on a specific crypto, these are ideal times for diversification, so I think that a broad portfolio with varied cryptos, backed by a good proportion of bitcoin and ethereum would be a smart choice.

Is it still safe, wise and as profitable as before to start a fresh bitcoin investment?

I'm thinking that investing in a number of the other several altcoins might be much better

Before you start to invest, try to study the market's statistics first in order to earn a huge amount of profit. Not every coin does really have the potential to grow its value, only the specific ones. Bitcoin and altcoin are not comparable since bitcoin is obviously has the highest rate of growth more than any other coins. Before you decide on investing try to scale your capital on where you can get more profit either a coin for long term or short term investment.

I think the word should be on which has the less risk because cryptocurrencies can still disappear when things go worst than worst so it's not that safe. So for me bitcoin has less risk because it is tried and tested and altcoins needs to be paired with it so they'll get tradable easily.

In my opinion in a medium-term  Etherium , bitcoin gold, Bitcoin cash, Verge, Byteball, Burst have the larger potential. XVG and Byteball defintly as they have some new specs attractive to anyone.

The BTC's value, as well as considering how the prices alter almost everyday would be a good buy(wherein a high probability of its price suddenly jumping 100% in just a short amount of time, exists). Wherein if you spend a particular amount for its purchase, you would have a high probability of earning 30 to 60% or more profit within a month or 2 (it is possible). For the ETH that includes other Altcoins, and the value it has at the moment, which is more "reasonable" because it is more cheaper than the BTC, and if you are the type of investor that expects to make profit every week or month....you can actually make 10 to 15% profits from regularly buying and selling ETH and other Altcoins. So this would depend on the type of approach or strategy the investor would use. The price or value of the "merchandise" (whether BTC or ETH,plus other Altcoins), would undermine or determine the profit a person would make. The cheaper it is, (Like the ETH and other Altcoins) the smaller the profit is if you are the type of investor who regularly sells and buys and repeats the process, but if you are the long term investor (or those who would hold on to it for a very long time until value reaches more than 500% or more), then your money would sort-of "sleep". For the BTC on the other hand, it is already on a value that is somewhat risky but the dynamic market and value (how fast its value changes) it has, can make it a good investment as well. Thus, to conclude, both cryptocurrencies have potentials of being a good buy, thus a good investment, and to further increase a holders chances of turning it as a good investment, then, a proper approach would determine this, the success, that is.

Bitcoin is safer, if you believe in cripto, you just need to hold your BTC and in a few years you may get huge profit.Some altcoin might be more profitable but we cannot tell how long will that coin can stand in the market so it's quite risky but still it's up to you if you're willing to take a risk in investing.

The market goes through cycles. Sometimes BTC will lead the charge while alts bleed. Other times it'll be alts leading the charge like we saw recently. Sometimes both BTC & alts will be charging & other times everything will be down. The 'safest' bet is to have a nicely balanced & diversified portfolio to limit your risk exposure & never invest more than you are willing to lose

For safer they are the same but the distinct and better bitcoin reputation,
but for the future as well as profitable it is clear that bitcoin is better and more proven and recognized while altcoin takes more time because it still needs to be developed differently from bitcoin.

Bitcoin will bring profit, as well as ETH, but for my opinion you need certain amount of time to feel the benefit, besides you need to invest more money for more income. It is easier to deal with altcoins, as you are investing less money, and will get benefit faster, but benefit of course is less then in case of bitcoin and ETH.

I think it depends on the amount of investment, BTC and ETH are good for big investments, and other altcoins are better if you have less money.

I think it depends on the amount of investment, BTC and ETH are good for big investments, and other altcoins are better if you have less money.

you are right, and if we can have a big money to invest, I think we should go for bitcoin because bitcoin price will increase in the future although the altcoin could give a big profit in the future too. but we still could with bitcoin and altcoin and I think it will give us a big profit in the long-term. and for the altcoin, we need to determine what coin that we need to buy and hold because there are too many altcoins that we can select as our long-term investment.
