Bitcoin or Altcoins? Which is safer or more profitable?

In my opinion BTC is safer but Altcoin can be more profitable because of short term trading. You can make your profit in a few days with alt.

I believed that altcoin is more profitable than bitcoin, but bitcoin is more safe than altcoin, in bitcoin I did not experienced such hackers. But in altcoin I was once experienced being hacked. It is in a exchange, they are being attacked by a hacker and I was unable to know that. I do trade on that day and my funds was transfered to another address which I believed hackers did. AltcoIn is profitable but too risky with a 50% possibility to be hacked. Bitcoin is safe and secured and also profitable

I'll go with ethereum for now. Because Ethereum is still undervalued, I still accumulate ethereum. For altcoins, I just only day trade on altcoins. But for long term, I hold ethereum.

In terms of my being safe bitcoin would be the best and for profitability is altcoins.
In bitcoin the amount you have can be easily be traded and get profit. For Altcoins if you just hold for a decent amount of time its price will surely rise much more than bitcoins.
Specially after the token sale and when the campaign is very successful the value of altcoin will rise sharply causing multitudes of profits.

The choices fall under two different categories: long term and short term investments. I’d still choose bitcoin over alts since it is the father of all cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin’s ATH in past gives me an assurance of hug profits. Altcoins, on the other hand could also bring a ridiculous amountprofit as well however, it is not guaranteed, and hence, we must choose our alts carefully.

for the future digital currency is BTC but for the next generations I choose ETH
but between this two digital currencies,

About safety, bitcoin is and next are the top tier altcoins on coinmarketcap.com. That's my basis for choosing and suggesting to others about altcoin and there are altcoins that are growing more than bitcoin does but they are all dependent to bitcoin market.

If it's still earlier, I would go with binance but I don't think it's still a good choice.

May be it is a good choice for you but I am not agree to buy anything bu8t only bitcoin, it is high in price it is increasing day by day and for it is the surely that soon I will be  safe and tension free for my future and I can enjoy the my present as it is safe as well as my future, investing bitcoin is making high level saving as it use to pump with every increasing investment and the more investors are now attracting towards bitcoin so my choice is going to be the one and only high potentiated bitcoin.

As we speak about binance, they are experiencing some problems that made a lot of traders annoyed. If you don't agree on buying anything but bitcoin only. It's your choice, you have to do your own research so that you can decide for yourself. Most of us here are bitcoin believers so there's no problem with it.

With Bitcoin, you can be sure, that you will make profits. But it will be small profits. (low risk, low profits)
With altcoins you can't be sure about anything. You will either lose -90% or make 400%. (high risk, high profits)

That’s true. Bigger the risk, greater the profit. Bitcoin is not much volatile and rises slowly as for bitcoin to grow, huge growth in market cap is required, whereas there are some undervalued altcoins that can rise more than 3X in no time and wont require as much market capitalization. Altcoins fall quickly in price as market falls, but the also rise as quickly when the market recovers. Therefore, to be on safe you can hold both bitcoin and altcoins in some proportions by dividing your investment wisely.

It all depends on what price you buy in at but generally, it's going to be easier to make money on a decent alt. This is because the individual price is so cheap, it's much more likely for an alt to increase 10% over something like Bitcoin

In my own opinion, both are profitable but only depends on how long will you invest your money. For altcoins, you can invest your money for a short term investment only but for bitcoin, it is for a long term investment. If you invest your money longer in bitcoin, you can maximize the profit you can get.

I would say generally bitcoin is the safer-more stable of the currencies as it is the one often used to weight all other currencies. On the other hand however with alt coins it's easier to make very high margin profit. But if you ask for a personal opinion ethereum is my favourite crypto.

I think Altcoin will grow rapidly, especially Ethereum and Ripple . Investing in such Altcoin will bring high profitability because of the current exchange rate is low. The investment in the Altcoin as above will bring high profit because the current exchange rate is low. But the risk is greater than your investment in Bitcoin. So if you decide long-term investment, invest in Bitcoin, and invest in Altcoin or other ICOs to prepare for the Index.

Bitcoin and Altcoin are equally profitable. Because both do have good prospects for the future. If Bitcoin is already very promising, but if Altcoin not all can promise. So if you want to buy Altcoin should have the detail of choosing a good Altcoin for the future.

Yes, investing in several other altcoins is better than just investing in bitcoin or ethereum. I would suggest you to distribute your investment between bitcoin and 3-5 other altcoins atleast. As bitcoin Is a bit less volatile than the rest of the crypto currencies, I would recommend you to buy 60% bitcoin and hold. With other 40% investment you can buy 3-5 other altcoins which great technology and potential growth in future. Its always better to keep your investment distributed rather than keeping everything in one coin.

I agree this is wise. Always distribute your possibilities to reduce any risk. Depending from the risk (higher risk can represent higher profits but also higher losses)  you prefer you could choose this risk status: small, medium, high. Example small could be 70% btc and rest growing altcoins; medium could be 50% btc and rest altcoins; high could be 30% Btc and 70% other altcoins.

Bitcoins is the first cryptocurrency, and that makes it the most trusted and used amongst all the other altcoins, so its the most safe to get hold of. However, since the price is so high right now, don't expect it to increase tenfold in the next few years as it would be a little unrealistic, but possible though.

Altcoins, or Initial Coin Offerings (ICO), can have potential if researched upon, which makes it more profitable, however, there are many scamcoins revolving about ICOs and altcoins, making it more risky than having Bitcoin.

It is up to you, but if you are new to BTC, I suggest getting some Bitcoin first.

I would recommend to stay away from ICO’s as many are just a scam nowadays. And not altcoins are for short them, there are quite many coins that are building for long term and have great potential and vision to connect the outside world with digital assets. Some of great coins that you could surely hold for long term are XRP,NEO,XMR,ETH,LTC and TRX. These are great projects with hard working team working on it and are concentrating for long term rather than short profits. Also do buy some bitcoin and keep aside. Its always good to have some bitcoins.

I think both.. Its about how you handle your holdings whether its bitcoin or alt coin. Of course bitcoin is much more important because of its long term investment and its well-established reputation for being the most trusted coin of all unlike alt coins which has unstable state and its low price in the coin market.
Youll just have to study and invest on potential alt coins that shows promise and could be profitable in the future.
