Nonetheless, based on the development progress and head start Shift has had, I do think that Phantom is on pace to retain a first mover advantage for the decentralized hosting niche. If Shift is the first javascript friendly all-in-one dApp platform to actually launch a killer app for adoption in a substantial use case, I don't see why the market cap wouldn't increase to at least 10% of the Lisk market cap. That would put Shift at over $110m which would be 7.3x from the current price.

Obviously I am incentivized to shill Shift because I own it, but I wouldn't have invested when the market cap was already ~$12m if I didn't believe it has a 5x -
 10x potential. I would be really interested however to hear why others may disagree with my reasoning. I am with you. Same Thoughts here and hold this coins too for same reasons. not sure if it will moon, but 5x-10x i am quit sure, so easy money

Well, the coin has already cost twice as much as it does right now. That's why I believe that it can easily go 2x even if its ideas are not innovative.
Trading volume is very low, though, so maybe it is easy to manipulate the price. As for the idea.. I don't know. Do they, like, want to create their own internet? There's already WWW, darknet and they want to be the third option? They say advertisement will not distract there, but 1) ad block is working fine for me and 2) how they will benefit from their web if not via ads? And they don't  have a whitepaper, which is not very good, I guess.

As I understand, the main benefit is not the ad-free aspect but that using IPFS for decentralized hosting will enable web hosting to be cheaper than it is with current technology and that the cheaper web hosting will not require a learning curve for web developers to use it, as the Shift platform is made to be accessible for mass adoption and supports Javascript. The other benefit is that the decentralized nature of IPFS will make its hosted content resistant to censorship.

Running a storage node for the decentralized web and file hosting is one way to earn revenue through the platform. The Shift token can also eventually be used as a medium of exchange for providing services on the Shift platform, such that the market cap of Shift should theoretically include the total dollar value of all services rendered on the dApp platform. (They're working on a peg solution as I understand which will enable the service pricing to remain stable as the token value increases.) Web hosting is a multi-billion dollar industry so the use case and revenue model should be viable if it's really true that (1) using the platform has little to no learning curve for adoption by mainstream web developers, and (2) the dollar cost of decentralized IPFS web hosting is actually much cheaper than the cost of traditional web hosting. If (1) and (2) are true then it wouldn't make sense economically for this not to see mass adoption, especially if it's got first mover advantage and offers the additional benefit of making the hosted content essentially censorship-proof. (They did say that hashes can be blacklisted by community consensus if they contain immoral content such as child abuse content, but it's uncensorable in the sense that there is no centralized server that can be attacked or blocked by a malicious party or government wanting to restrict access to the content.)

I'm not a developer so my technical understanding of the details may be crude, but I believe this is the gist of how the decentralized hosting is planned to work. The JENGA layer they developed for Shift also plays a part in making this work (it enables the use of traditional "www" URLs with IPFS hosting, so that unlike with Maidsafe or some other platforms that are also attempting decentralized web and file hosting, the Shift platform and Phantom dApp can work without requiring the use of a subdomain URL and without requiring any kind of web browser plugin/extension to be installed by the user - this is obviously really essential to mass adoption and they claim to have solved this problem).

EDIT: Regarding whitepaper, I'm not certain but I believe there is going to be a whitepaper posted with the new website launch. This seems to be the expectation in the Ryver forum

If the platform is still on a good development track and showing strong progress, as long as that is the case I still believe 5x - 10x will happen regardless of time frame unless it loses first mover advantage, which I don't believe would be a likely risk until some time in 2019 if development stagnated. But the devs seem very committed from my discussions with them. Based on my impression of the development, I believe that 5x - 10x movement will happen within 4-6 months if it happens more organically, or within 4-12 weeks if whales perceive opportunity before then. In the Ryver forum today someone posted the chart since last February. I don't claim to have any sophisticated TA ability and don't try to make long term investment based on TA, as I don't think it can project the most significant impacts of development news etc., but in the Ryver some believe that a breakout will happen soon:

I believe the general culture in the crypto scene, which can act as a major investment tailwind, is probably shifting in favor of projects like this: no ICO and steady development over 2+ years, with a working prototype already developed. As crypto investors become more disillusioned and wary of high cap ICO projects and vaporware based only on hype, projects fitting Shift's profile (i.e.: multi-year development + no ICO + already have working prototype) should see an upsurge in investment IMO. I think this is part of the reason that Vertcoin mooned (but replace the working prototype condition with the equivalent early mover advantage in its category, within the "currency" use case niche: it fulfilled this condition with its early implementation of lightning network). If this cultural shift in crypto continues into a full swing momentum, since there are not many active projects that actually fit this profile, the relative few that do will see a higher concentration of interest and attention.

To clarify, the reason the new website is expected to create a price movement is that it is actually going to be hosted live with Shift's decentralized web hosting dApp. So the new website will be the direct, live proof that the Phantom dApp is in working prototype stage.

The new website running on their blockchain is scheduled for release before end of the year. The website will be replaced with a new roadmap, whitepaper etc (what I have read).

there was no reason for the price to rise 3 months ago because there was no product released. Why should someone invest in "nothing" ? In December they will release a new website based on their product (Phantom). When people will see what their product can do then more and more people will start using their product.

As we all know the market is not always very objective about a project, so it also depends if maybe there will be a high demand coming out of nowhere and pump this coin.
Circulating supply is low and it is on bittrex so that could be interesting for traders if they start focusing on the coin maybe because of news etc.

Shift's marketing team increased its volunteers by over 30% within the last month alone. They're working on the content for the new website (massive overhaul) as well as the newsletters. Although the devs are spending all their time on coding the marketing team is increasing regular communication as well, but that should scale a lot more within five weeks when all the new content is finished.

Hey all.  Can someone tell me what coin where if you bought say $100 or $1000 worth would be worth 1 million dollars with real examples?


For example what im curious about are those coins that are not only under 1 dollar... but coins that are like under 10 cents or even less than 1 cent.  


For example, i took a look at shift.  That coin showed that it started out as 1 cent.  Can someone confirm here you could have bought this coin at 1 cent at bittrex etc?  Because its over 1.45 right now.  So had you invested say 100 dollars on shift... which would have gotten you 10000 shift... now you have 14500?  Thus 1000 usd worth would be worth 145000 now?  Because this coin basically 100x with more room to grow right?


Now what about those coins that are 1/10th of a cent or 1/100th of a cent.  Can someone tell me any coin that started out where you could get it at bittrex for example where the price was 0.001 or 0.0001?  Then the coin go to 1 dollar or more?  Because in the first example... 100 dollars in that 0.001 coin if it turned to 1 dollar would mean 100000... Thus if a coin is say 0.0001, thus 1/100 of one cent...100 dollars would mean 1 million right?  Can coins that low be bought or got now?  It was back then right?  Or can coin prices this low can only be bought through ICO etc.


Can someone name me coins that started out at 1 cent or less and now that are like at least 1 dollar?  Because i checked coinmarketcap and coins like NEM and gamecredits started out as 0.0001 etc.  However i check the volume seem to be very low.  So back then could people buy like 1 million or 10 million of NEM and gamecredits when it was 0.0001 prices?  Thus any coin that shows the history of the entire price at the beginning where it was 0.01 or 0.001 or 0.0001 meant you could have gotten these coins at these prices?  Now how easy/hard would it be to buy those coins back then?  I know bitcoin back then you could not get it that easily as it is now.  But were altcoins pretty hard to get?  How did you get them?  Was it through ico or exchange?  Did bittrex even existed back then?  What exchanges back then when NEM and gamecredits were like 0.01 or 0.001 or 0.0001 was it possible to get it?  I assume those werent listed on bittrex until later?  Then how could someone get it?  And most importantly were there nem and gamecredit wallets like how there are bitcoin and litecoin wallets now?

so better look für good projects with a great potential and take these 10x or maybe 100x if we are lucky and don't be to greedy. better set a limit like 5x or 10x and take the profits and look for the next gem.

Hey all.  Can someone tell me what coin where if you bought say $100 or $1000 worth would be worth 1 million dollars with real examples?


For example what im curious about are those coins that are not only under 1 dollar... but coins that are like under 10 cents or even less than 1 cent.  


For example, i took a look at shift.  That coin showed that it started out as 1 cent.  Can someone confirm here you could have bought this coin at 1 cent at bittrex etc?  Because its over 1.45 right now.  So had you invested say 100 dollars on shift... which would have gotten you 10000 shift... now you have 14500?  Thus 1000 usd worth would be worth 145000 now?  Because this coin basically 100x with more room to grow right?


Now what about those coins that are 1/10th of a cent or 1/100th of a cent.  Can someone tell me any coin that started out where you could get it at bittrex for example where the price was 0.001 or 0.0001?  Then the coin go to 1 dollar or more?  Because in the first example... 100 dollars in that 0.001 coin if it turned to 1 dollar would mean 100000... Thus if a coin is say 0.0001, thus 1/100 of one cent...100 dollars would mean 1 million right?  Can coins that low be bought or got now?  It was back then right?  Or can coin prices this low can only be bought through ICO etc.

Look up Shift on coinmarketcap and then go under the historical data section where you can see the prices and volumes since the beginning for any coin.

You will find that even though a lot of coins may have started off dirt cheap, there was very low volume so you wouldn't have been able to accumulate a large position.

Shift as a project is quit old, that is true, but it was the first ETH fork and then they switched a newer tech an use LISK and so shift was the first LISK Fork and is the most advanced one, so old coin, but state of the art tech and great project with decentralized web.

Edit: And to be not to much off topic: Real small dip last night, then recovered and now stronger then before, so atm it looks like $2 without any great news end 2017 is possible. BUT i am quit sure and is is announced already that there will come SOME good news and release! So it might even go higher.

I did.  But how would i know how much shift one could buy?  There is volume and marketcap shown.  Which one is it?  For example if you look at beginning of the year, price is about 1 cent.

It seems like it's already back in an uptrend. Hard bounce from 25k sat makes it look like pretty strong support at 26k sat. Already back up to 27k sat / $2.40. An uptrend so quickly after the post-pump dip shows a lot of strength and if it continues into next week as fiat hits exchanges again after the U.S. Thanksgiving holidays, I think my original prediction earlier in the thread of 5x - 10x within 4-12 weeks is looking more likely. Agree it will be interesting to see what happens after the Koreans wake up again to find the  uptrend holding. The next 12 hours could be very significant IMO.

I just took this snapshot of the 1 min. chart about three minutes ago:

In addition to the stable uptrend that has brought us back to a current average of ~$2.30, there appear to be blips of massive accumulation happening on the 1 min. charts. Based on looking at this post-pump rise today I think I was wrong about $80m by the end of December, that seems too conservative. It's hard to predict how high it could go from here but $10 is very possible if this uptrend and accumulation continues. When the accumulation spike happens the cap then recovers to what it was previously, even for spikes happening in a less than one minute time frame. This suggests that whales are shaking out weak hands (as the spikes are too fast to become pumps that incite fomo and corresponding quick wave rider cashouts), so these are shaking out preexisting sell orders. As the accumulation continues and these sell orders get shaken out, the friction against higher highs is reduced. With the Vertcoin pump which displayed the same initial pattern, the existing market cap was already several multiples higher than Shift's current market cap and so IMO the multiple for the incoming Shift increase can go higher than it did for Vertcoin. Based on the recent chart activity I'm leaning toward $10 happening much sooner than I initially thought.

If the pattern does not even escalate, but merely repeats/maintains over the forthcoming month, then I expect it would yield a $6 target by end of year. But IMO this is an easy 2.5x - 3x from current price, possibly up to 5x from current price whenever the rally is catalyzed and fueled by the new website's release on the Phantom prototype before January.

I think so too, I am just hoping that it would gather enough steam to keep on moving. Many coins have been like this, they gather momentum and seemed to have the chance to increase its value tenfold, only to see it dwindle and never to recover or reach it's projected price point. That is why currently they aren't in the top 100 Getting there or better on the way back there. I would love to host websites on their platform as many advantages can be used. Thanks for the analysis. Personally I still believe it can go $6-10 within the next five weeks because the uptrend is still stable and seems to be resuming more strongly the last two days. Another factor to consider is that when the product (decentralized web hosting) is released as a working proof on testnet, it will make it easier for Shift to add more exchange listings since exchanges factor development progress into the criteria for adding tokens. Independently of other factors, a large exchange add could increase the market cap an additional $10m maybe (I'm not too sure, perhaps you have a clearer idea?) since the main factor that will drive growth will be awareness, for a platform which already has strong development progress with a low market cap. If Shift is added to 3-4 new large exchanges over the course of Q1 then that would compound the impact of the development progress. I think that the strong possibility of more large exchange listings (now it's just Bittrex + Upbit and Livecoin) will therefore make $10 also fairly likely within 1-2 months from now.

Well the lowest price for shift in the last month was 14k satoshi. Now it's around ~20k, this month we will definetly see a price jump once the product will be delivered. I think the price will fluctuate between 19-21k sat until the release. 100$ it will occur if the feedback from their product will be mostly positive. For that we must wait and see how good their product it will be, but for now i don't see it 100$ in 2018 but we will see.

Actually I have heard that around 1/3rd of the tokens are held in wallets of the community such as delegates / node operators / forgers etc. so the supply is actually even more limited than it seems on the surface. Many of the hardcore community are true believers in this coin and will hold to the ends of the earth IMO. So far the uptrend is even holding rock solid over the 20k sat line (at 20.5k seems like the current bottom) despite btc rising now.

Investing in coins that already have $200m+ market cap is part of healthy diversification, but the absolute smartest money will pick a solid coin with less than $100m market cap that is eventually going to see real use adoption. I personally believe that the larger coins are actually riskier than small coins with dedicated HODLers, in the sense that a larger ratio of the huge coin's market cap is comprised of fickle speculator money which can crash the coin's value when a lot of the speculator money leaves to jump onto the next big bandwagon. This is part of why a stable uptrend for a small coin attracts the smart whales early - they know that they are very unlikely to lose money investing in the small coin when it has proven ongoing development and holds a solid support line more strongly than the average volatility of the market.

I don't know about a way to get SHIFT except using an exhange. If you are planning to use an exchange to buy SHIFT, I recommend you to use Livecoin. Although it has less volume, they do not suprise you with freezing your funds contrary to Bittrex that has massive problem with verification and withdrawals.

I'd say $4-5 by the end of year prior to a pump upon release of the new website on the Phantom dApp testnet, and then the pump will take it much higher. This should happen before the end of the year: the uptrend of this accumulation already has been crossing $3 and it's not even the end of the first week of December. Plus this uptrend is even holding steady while bitcoin is pumping. The last accumulation phase increased price to a higher baseline and then made it 3x. If that happens again this time, when the uptrend is even stronger, then a 3x from $4-5 (accumulation uptrend's new baseline) to $12-15 could happen within the next four weeks.

It is already there. For a while Next stops are all over 3. Probably in next shot when alts recover we'll go much higher. 10 not imposible. But a lot depends on the overall market situation. It all going relatively normal over 5 is easy to catch with the product out being tested. It was high over 3 even after rumours about it in the summer.

Shift uses dPOS so delegates receive rewards for being node operators, which constitute the coin's annual inflation. Inflation is capped to 10% or less annually and if I remember correctly, the % inflation is designed to decrease over each subsequent year (e.g. currently Shift's inflation is already lower than Lisk's, despite Shift's low coin supply of less than 11.5m tokens).

We will see. Rebranding (they are doing mini rebranding) is not that magical in a long run just make some hype momentarely (if there is not a product with obvious, or a sometimes taken from a thin air, potencial involved IMHO. Shift has it and would already been there without different philosophies by devs (ex) when to take the profit out or how much to invest in the future). Will see. Rebranding a bit out of "fashion" nowadays IMO.

Can't say don't agree. Price definitely going in the right direction as it is anticipating smth special (even without knowing about details) Will see how many people will jump on the both in the news few weeks that are meaning to stay for at least less then the first "pump". Given that Shift seems to have already reached decent support at ~$3.78 with over 12 days left in the month, it seems possible that the support might be $5-6 by the time the end of the month arrives. So my estimates may have been too conservative. Based on the acceleration of this uptrend and the support reaching higher earlier than expected, I think it's very possible that this coin could go to $25 after the end of the month. I would therefore no longer sell any of my stack at a target lower than that. Even if Shift doesn't reach $25 (market cap of about $288m) around close to after the end of the month, it can probably reach this in January anyway. This buildup looks huge and has probably been building for at least three months before now. IMO the exceptionally low supply of this coin means it can easily go 10X even from the current price at the rate that this uptrend is accelerating.

I think that incredible things are coming in Q1 2018. My original predictions earlier in this thread have continued to be surpassed as I've been tracking this project for the past 3+ months. With the uptrend continuing to accelerate over every time frame (1wk/1mo/3mo/1yr), I have said elsewhere that I now think it's possible to see $30-50 within the next six weeks. First working prototype in this niche ahead of Storj, Filecoin, Substratum, and all the other higher cap coins in the same niche is a big deal and Shift's marketing has barely even begun. Shift actually is a broader project than the others because it's an entire dApp platform combined all in one with the Phantom decentralized web hosting tech. Even $100+ is possible in the next several months IMO.

I'm not going to sell and will keep watching to see how far this goes in the coming months especially. Based on how 2017 is finishing, it looks like we're gearing up for a hell of a ride soon.

Thoughts on shift?  I wanted to get it when it was a bit over the 1 to 2 dollar mark.  Then it went all the way up to 10 dollars and i thought i couldn't buy anymore.  But now the price is under 3 dollars.  Does anyone here this coin has potential to hit 100 or more dollars?  I read lot of people mention this earlier in the thread but it doesn't seem like to be any progress at all.  Did the phantom network release yet?  I heard that was the big thing that was going to make them huge?

I think the Shift price spike will be more late in 2018 to mid 2019.
That's when we'll start seeing real users.

Rebranding didn't help Lisk much. Of course I feel Shift is more unknown then most coins, so maybe it would help. Nothing helps more than working products however.

Earlier there was a Shift price of $ 0.002 and now $ 2.91 growth is and it's good. may by the end of the year and there will be several X.
