I'd be curious if Bitcoin Forum members can chime in on what the estimated awareness might be for their region or country: https://news.bitcoin.com/survey-japanese-bitcoin/a quote: "A recent survey of 10,000 men and women across Japan shows that 88% of them have heard of bitcoin. Among those that have bitcoin, 47% said that they have used it in retail stores but long-term investment is most respondents’ main reason for purchasing bitcoin."

The grue lurks in the darkest places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.

My country is a developing one so not everyone does have access to Internet and these cryptocurrency news and stuff..thus..there is a huge division of people that are cut off from the whole world and out of them the major are farmers and beggars and their population is quite high ..almost.. 50% of the population in my country would have never heard of bitcoins for sure..and even those remaining 50% one should subtract the old people and the babies and the housewifes..and i think after roughly estimating the number will be around 10%.. if not less. Well japan is technologically advanced thus its something that was forseen..

well the difference between Japan and other countries is that Japan has adopted bitcoin as a legal way of payment which means they have accepted it as a currency, additionally the removal of taxes on bitcoin payments is an additional perk that helps with the growth and popularity of bitcoin in their country. the rest of the countries however, have not done anything like that. most of them anyways. they may have announced it to be legal but there are always rules in addition to that for usage of bitcoin which sometimes make it restrictive. and many accepted it as a commodity not a currency which is why it is not as popular there.

,this is may be the main reason i guess why most Japanese knew about bitcoin's existence as their secondary method of payments which are also being adopted to most of the merchants in Japan. in different countries as you've said that they doesn't do anything like that, is also the main reason why instead of bitcoin being heard all over it only sounds like it is just another thing to use if you have it, or in short instead of adapting into innovation they tend to prevent the changes.

Among those that have bitcoin, 47% said that they have used it in retail stores but long-term investment is most respondents’ main reason for purchasing bitcoin." Today, Bitcoin is probably almost 1% adopted by people all around the world. Even in the most adopted country, the USA, most people have no idea what Bitcoin really is. Japan, may have a slightly higher number in percentage terms. Bitcoin has been banned all over the world by all big banks in nearly all countries since 2013 (for over 4-years) and the banks have completely failed at stopping Bitcoin's growth. At a bank, just try to do a bank transaction say its for "Bitcoin" and watch your transaction be blocked for review. BUT Everyone in all countries are still finding a way to get Bitcoins. They simply never say "Bitcoin" when dealing with banks. People are smart. Nothing can stop Bitcoin as it reached escape velocity back in 2013. What do you think everyone's been doing for the past 4 years?? Bitcoin has been unstoppable growth since 2013. Wait until we are closer to 3% adoption in the world. Once we hit 4% adoption in the world, then Bitcoin = mainstream. Let that sink in.Amazing to see global trade growth on localbitcoins as well (scroll down to see all the individual countries): https://coin.dance/volume/localbitcoins :

I'd say Japan is not a good indicator of things like this. They are a fairly high tech country with a lot of people in the position to both find out about and have direct access to technology.
Speaking about my country, I'd say we are atill not past the stage of "is bitcoin gambling?"

As you all know, Philippines is a poor country, and they don't see Bitcoin as a form of payment, or a secure currency but as a form of Investment, I saw different Investment firms and also Financial Advisers/Firms uses Bitcoin as a form of Investment, they even said that they will teach the participants on how to generate profit from Bitcoin, which is currently impossible since they cannot even dictate what will be the price and how will they handle their investments when bitcoin is volatile. As for the percentage, I think 99% have heard Bitcoin since there is a Television program that reported the Scam relating to Bitcoin, as for the Knowledge and Idea, I think lower than 10% knows the technology behind Bitcoin and the Idea of Cryptocurrency.

Not surprising to say the least. The people in Japan are always in the know.for technological advancements, and being one of the countries with the highest literacy rate at 99%, it's not new for their people to hear about these kind of things.

I think it's not just its a poor country you know though I agree. As we have all know, the Philippines is an archipelago which means when there are such technology adapted in a specific area, it's not possible that it will be equally be adapted by every island. So I think that maybe Filipinos do heard about bitcoin but not widely. Guessing about sixty percent only.

As soon as you say bitcoin here they will ignore you and will wait for you to cramp crying and then they laugh. But that never happened haha. Good ol bitcoin.

I think such a large percentage of awareness of the crypto currency is inherent only in Japan. In other countries, such awareness is very low. In Russia and China, about 80 percent of the population did not hear about the crypto currency at all.

It is very interesting to see that so many people know about bitcoin in Japan, I have never seen statistics like this released in my country but I speculate that if they did I would guess than less than 1% of the population of my country knows about bitcoin, not even people that know about technology know anything about bitcoin and I know because I have the opportunity to meet a lot of engineers.

This is not surprising at all. Bitcoin has been quite big in Japan for a while now. Even the Mt. Gox scandal was basically based there. It would be hard not to have heard of it. Still, though, even Japan, one of the most welcoming countries for Bitcoin has a long way to go. The headline can be a bit misleading as it somewhat implies that Japan as a whole is into Bitcoins, but majority (56.2% according to the article) doesn't even know what it is. If it's this bad in Japan, then I can only imagine what statistics would say on other countries.
Still, I wish every government were as progressive as Japan's. I'm sure the market would boom if every country were as open to technology.

One of the reason is that Japan govt has official legalized the btc in their country due to which the awareness rate is so much high. Another thing is that due to this they are dominating the btc space now and Japan and US leads the btc trades per day.

Japan is definitely not the global standard, because they are a true leader in adoption world wide. Since their government gave full support to Bitcoin <defining it as a currency>, large retailers started to accept it as a currency. Now you see Bitcoin symbols in every other shop and this sparked mass adoption.
In other countries, governments are cautious and still struggling to regulate it. <This will slow down merchant adoption and mass adoption> My guess is that global recognition of Bitcoin has not even reached 20% in most countries.

The count should have been more since Japan is more active towards crypto after USA. Japan holds a large number of population who buy crypto currencies and use it as payments in their regular life. Having more than 5000 merchants who accept crypto currencies Japan is still lacking behind since the number of BTC ATMs are very less in the country. Despite the facts I am still proud as Japan is taking a leap ahead as compared to other countries. I am from India and to be honest I am not proud of the fact that India is still not legalising BTC and other cryptos. I guess they are underestimating its potential and the benefits of crypto currencies.

The widespread of the use of bitcoin in my country was as a reason of the rise in different Ponzi schemes, after the death of those Ponzi schemes and a lot of people losing their money and life savings, only a lesser percentage of that group that used bitcoin for Ponzi schemes continued with bitcoin and cryptocurrency in genral. The rest abandoned the use of bitcoin, therefore when you try to introduce bitcoin to them, the negativity brought by ponzi schemes to bitcoin always make them shrug and unwilling to invest or transact with.
So if I were to give a percentage on users, I would say about 2%.

japan officially admitted bitcoin as the currency that's why bitcoin users at that country increase rapidly but my country was very different that they still did not admit bitcoin as payment tools or investment asset because they said currencies should be had physical and bitcoin is digital so no matter how expensive bitcoin then my government will never admit it as currency but using bitcoin is not an illegal act so people still using bitcoin as usual in my country

There isn't a search yet about this subject on my country, I think it's not so popular like in other countries like Japan, India, Philippines, China... Where I live I don't know anyone who uses Bitcoin and when I tell them about it they don't have much interest. What I know is that about 3 millions of people are using Bitcoin in the world at this moment, but I can't say how they are splitted among the countries...

Pretty much, Japan si the most mr, modern country. They always seem to embrace tehnology faster, maiybe this is because their people love gadgets. In my country you can barely see a news about bitcoin, who knows , maybe 2018 BTC will make a big enough splash so we canr hear it too.

Philippines I think less than 1% heard about bitcoin. we have poor information dissemination when it comes to bitcoin. I think maybe the big banks does not want for the people to learn about bitcoin because it would affect there business. Those Big whales.

Among those that have bitcoin, 47% said that they have used it in retail stores but long-term investment is most respondents’ main reason for purchasing bitcoin." yes i am sure in japan country the survey may be true. but different for my country, almost 70% do not know even do not care. only groups and communities are scattered in my country. but maybe for the next few years bitcoin users will be increasingly around the world.

well from where am I know they've heard and think about bitcoin in a different ways as one giant TV network created a report about bitcoin claiming that it was a scam and not safe to invest with, so instead of having more people to be attract with this investment it went to the other side. but I'm still looking forward that this perception will be change in the long run.

In my country up to 60% know bitcoin because they see it in national media. But what they hear and see are the risks that bitcoins bring as well as if they use it, they may be offenders because my country bans bitcoin.

In terms of knowledge, I think the United States is too large to have a similar percentage (88%) of population that knows about bitcoin. The information about the coin is definitely being spread like hot cakes right now. ICO's and cryptocurrencies are a major hot topic for all kinds of investors right now just due to the returns that people get on them. However, that doesn't mean everyone knows about it. There is a significant population in the US filled with farmers and such that may not have the best education.

That figure is a bit too high to believe, even after considering how technologically advanced Japan is. 88%? Seriously? I doubt whether that many people might have heard about PayPal or Visa. And to be honest, I don't think that Bitcoin is more popular than PayPal or Visa right now.

Well, its not strange news to me if 47% of Japanese have used bitcoin in retail stores because almost every of their retiree have invested there retirement into bitcoin since last. Meanwhile, I'm from the country side so its hard for people on here to believe in bitcoin and it hard for me to estimate the awareness either but only 20% of people believe everything I said about bitcoin.

This is a pretty astonishing fact, but with each poll I do at Bitcoin Meetups the percentage is getting closer and closer to that. There are a lot of people who have heard about it, but there are not a lot of people who have used it or know what it is. Understanding Bitcoin is the most important thing you can do for yourself right now because so many things in the future will stem from this tech.

Japan population is close to 130 millions. 47% of them using bitcoin would mean over 60 million users. The total number of transactions in the chain is 270 millions. And we would have to cut out around 20 millions that have been made by satoshi dice and luckybit. So, that 47% number is pure garbage

Bitcoin is legal there so it's not that surprising that a lot of japanese people know about it, but i'm surprised about the 47% that have used it because that's a big number for a country. If you want to compare it to my country, i believe only less than 2% know about it because bitcoin is not regulated yet here. Information about bitcoin is rarely seen and only come from a few sources.

Most of the people here in my country are still clueless about bitcoin because they think that this is just a scam or joke that will not bring any positive or good thing for them. Bitcoin is a really great currency and Japan is one of the very first country that believed in bitcoin and fully adopt it and you can see the progress of their decision in the status of their country if we will look at the performance of bitcoin.

I think 30% of my country already heard about bitcoin and only 15% of them are using bitcoin. This is a small population compare to Japan because this what I have notice. In my company very few know about bitcoin, even many of my friends doesn't know what is crypto currencies, the popularity of bitcoin is not that wide as for now but I'm sure in future time many will learn it and adopt it's market.

This is very high percentage but I would say it's expected in so developed country where new technologies are a must. But that is not the case in many other countries, including my. I would say that 88% of people in my country have never heard of bitcoin. It's still reserved to very limited number of users, usualy younger generations. Hope this will change but it will take time.

Wow I'm more happy about the 47% that actually use it. That's insane! Mass adoption is already there at this point. I guess the pool was pretty small but it's a pretty good indication nonetheless.

I don't know how much percent of people in my country uses bitcoin. But as a student, in my assumption, 5 out of 30 people uses bitcoin and 25 out of 30 knows what is bitcoin, but have no interest, or maybe they just don't want to be involve for now. So if the total population of my country is approximately 106M people, I can say now that there are only 16% of our people uses bitcoin. If my computation is correct!

Oh that is really bad to hear. Actually our governments are not interested to make any progress in this field that is why things are often fall as bad as pig. Bitcoin is amazing world in itself but due to lack of our administrations in this field, majority of populations in many countries don’t know anything about it. Our condition have same problem and almost same numbers of people knowing bitcoin.

In our country 3 to 5% knows about Bitcoin and those are working in IT or Freelancers as the rest of them doesn't trust online sources and even in my area none knows.
No one here is interested to hear about Bitcoin or making money from home. I only heard in other forums, so those don't work online they never get the information.

Maybe 50-60% of people here in our country heard about bitcoin but they are still not investing in it because they still have many counts and what ifs in their minds. They will just ignore it even though they already heard some people said that bitcoin is good for anyone who wants to have an extra income. Sometimes, they are a little but convinced but when they heard some people who are so negative about it, they will change their mind.

In developing equatorial regions it is a contrast of your report. BTC is known by a few and a further few owns then but it's getting better each year out. A lot of awareness all over the internet and anything involving money and prosperity, people are will jump to it so i trust we will get to 50% someday but not 88%c as in Japan's situation

This is not surprising considering that Japan is the most up dated in terms of technology. Assuming that the creator of bitcoin is really Satoshi then he is a Japanese. And considering further that Japan is the first country I guess to legalize bitcoin ,there is no doubt that Japanese are aeare of its existence.

It's the question of legality; bitcoin is not legalised yet in my country, so the number of users is very less. I think mere 1% of the total population may be using it, as we don't get the exact numbers, as bitcoin is not legal here.

The awareness of the population on cryptocurrencies in any country depends on policy of the government. If the government to be positive to bitcoin as in Japan, then this topic in all media widely will be covered. Therefore anyway learns the majority of the population about it. In the countries where cryptocurrencies are forbidden or in hover, the governments aren't interested in wide dissemination of data on cryptocurrencies among the population. Therefore news can be learned about bitcoin generally from the Internet there.

Of course we also need to consider that the 12 percent don't really came at that age span, some of that remain of 88 percent comes also from the old people raging their ages at 65 - 75 years old.

Yup after making bitcoin legal in Japan the demand of the bitcoin is increased and many projects started based on this technology, so the price is now near to $10k. If all countries accept bitcoin just imagine what will be the price for 1 BTC. in my country there is no news like accepting bitcoin as legal.

I read a news about Japan. That is Japan have accepted bitcoin as a legitimate currency, they can use bitcoin to buy the necessary items. My friend in Japan used bitcoin to buy things in the store. That is very normal in Japan. That's why 88% of Japanese people know about bitcoins and 44% of them already own bitcoins .

It's not surprising if Japan has this high percentage of learning when it comes to bitcoin because they are one of those countries who gives so much support in bitcoin. In my country I think its around 10% has heard bitcoin but only 5% uses it because even if there are many news about bitcoin people are still in doubt that this is a good currency and that this is a legal thing

Although i do not know how true it is, i read recently in a post that there was still over 170million Nigerians who are still oblivious to bitcoin and the likes of it. Albeit there is a slow increase in awareness on a daily basis

In my country I will call the population of people who have heard about bitcoins to be less than even 10% because it's not a well known phenomenon at all in my country, I think it will be a while before the popularity of bitcoins soars and I think it will be late for a lot of investors then.

Among those that have bitcoin, 47% said that they have used it in retail stores but long-term investment is most respondents’ main reason for purchasing bitcoin." Well Japanese people will be known bitcoin because of their fast technologies. They are what we are expected to the one of the biggest contributors and gives so much support on bitcoin. For me living in a Developing Country, the amount of people that are using and working at bitcoin forum is about 40-55%. I don't know if it's a small amount of people or a lot. Our population is really big so maybe it is a big number also.

In my country that is India which is asian territory, lacks the base of crypto investors. Meaning there are not much people who know about the bitcoin and there wont be much real soon. Where we struggle for the education, electricity, water etc etc there is really scarcity of the bitcoin knowledge in our world. We will be struggling for this one for long period of time. Im not sure about the percentage of the bitcoin holders or people who know about it in my country but thats going to be less than 25% of the whole population. Couldn’t even imagine there are so many people and still we lack the confidence into the bitcoin reality or presence. Anyway those people who are already into bitcoin in my country are doing great but looked at them as they are suspicious people doing unusual activity. Lol. Help this will all change soon. :-)

Well I think that this percentage is overestimated, and if it is real it is due to the fact that their country actually supports bitcoin so they may have heard about it in multiple ocaisons where it has been mentioned in the media, the number of people who have heard of bitcoin might be high but the actual number of people who use it is probably much more less than that, and that is due to people not being able to find ways to earn it, in general I think that the number of people that know about bitcoin in a country is tied to the government whether it support it or not and tied to whether the media was able to cover it or not, and also tied to how much the society uses internet because if they use internet they may already have heard of it.

I think Japan is a developed country in terms of economy and japan is now the largest bitcoin market in the world. Up to 80% of japanese people have heard of bitcoin, it proves that Japanese enthusiasm for crypto currency is very high. because of the high bitcoin value makes bitcoin more popular in the world and many people in my country have heard or know about bitcoin compared to last year. I think about 55% of people in my country have heard of bitcoin, they know from a news that bitcoin is a very popular digital currency with sharply increased value.

There is a big difference between, - > Knowing about bitcoins. - > Holding Bitcoins - > Technical understanding of bitcoins.
All that really matters to me is,how much % of those 80 do actually understand the technicality of bitcoins ? I'm pretty sure they don't.Traders, exchanges, don' count either.I have got lods of people around me who have trading wallets installed in their phones but don't know jack about working of bitcoins.

I think here in my country, bitcoin is not yet popular and many people don't know what is bitcoin.
I conducted my own little survey in my work to have data and to know how popular the bitcoin here in my work place.
Question in the survey: Do you know what is bitcoin ? Result of the survey:
Out of 20 people that I asked only 5 people knows what is bitcoin, while the others doesn't know what is bitcoin at all.
The data shows that many of my co-worker don't know what is bitcoin. only fewer people who have knowledge in bitcoin.

In my own opinion, there are lots of Filipinos have heard what bitcoin is. If we going to use social media as our basis. There are lots of facebook pages and groups created; which promotes cryptocurrency or electronic banking. In this way many Filipino got engage with it and give some ways or tips how to earn it without spending too much of time.

To be honest I have no idea what is the exact percentage and there is no available information in the internet about Filipino engagement in Bitcoin. If we going to use social media as basis, I think there is highly probable but not absolute conclusion that will arise. Since in our generation, all things are deals with technology and everything revolves in the virtual world. There are lots of pages and groups created on social media; which promotes electronic banking and ways how to earn free or investment. In this way, I think Filipinos are not new about the system of electronic banking. Many Filipinos have idea and heard about bitcoin through the help of social media

When people talk about 88% in Japan, they probably do not mean children and pensioners. Here they wrote a couple of comments about Russia about 5% and about 20%. This is incorrect information. Speaking of Russia, I think about 60% have heard about bitcoin, they have been talking a lot about bitcoin on TV since August of this year. But only 2% understand what it is.

I would like to propose a topic for that however in my opinion, there will be less number of people here in my country that knows about Bitcoin because of misconceptions, not that kind of mainstream here, and they aren't used to using cryptocurrency.
Same is the case in my country in Pakistan few people know about bitcoin because of lack of information spreading, and maybe if a proper information is given to the people then there will be more investor who will invest and there are many people who afford this coin to buy, government here is showing serious interest to adopt bitcoin because they are well aware of the benefits and earning of the mighty bitcoin.

It is given that majority of Japan's citizens will know what Bitcoin is I mean they are one of the most developed country out their and they are highly advance also in terms of cryptocurrency. One factor I see why there is a high rate of people that know Bitcoin in Japan is because of their working atmosphere an article I see is that Japenese are being overworked which they are also being underpaid making them find others ways to create money.

In my country Indonesia most of those who know about Bitcoin are teenagers interested in the Crypto market, they are looking for Bitcoin through mining and making articles, signatures, etc. accessing them via the Internet.
Because my country is the main sector of focus where everyone is not very conscious or have confidence in it despite the technological improvement.

The more that i stay longer in this forum, the more that ive known that there were some of my countrymen who is being a part of this bitcoin community.I think this would be a good start for our country to finally adopt bitcoin.Through our knowledge and experiences we would be able to introduce it to some of our closest friend or families because cryptocurrecy is not famous in our country and not everyone used smartphones or laptop not like Japan that has its advanced technology that can truly adopt bitcoin as their source of payments etc.Population of Japanese helps alot on bitcoin fluctuations of price.

Japanese are underpaid? Lol, from what planet are you visiting? Japanese people enjoy one of the highest wages in the world and you call them underpaid? Oh, finally somebody nailed it. It doesn't matter if everybody in India is interesting in BTC since half of the population can't afford a daily tx fee. Pretty normal that bitcoin holders and users come from countries where you can afford to invest at least 1-5k yearly from your annual wage.

German people really prefer the safer side when it comes to investments. I see so many people in my country that have heard very little about bitcoin but they immediately brand it as a scam rather than wanting to know more about it. It's really sad that the only people I know which adopt cryptocurrencies have an engineering background.

That’s quite true. Ony a number of people in the Philippines know about it. It’s been increasing in popularity the past few weeks. A lot get curious and have some interest in investing. It’s not yet mainstream and bitcoin would still be a foreign concept to a lot in the Philippines if you were to ask them. It’s true that bitcoin knowledge is lacking and limited, also there’s not much resources for the bitcoin users as said.

And besides Japan legalized bitcoin that is why it is popular there. Services there, even restaurants accepts bitcoin.

I am living in the United Kingdom, and here some people know about cryptocurrency, and every day more people know about Bitcoin, it's related to this year price surge 1000$ > 10.000$. In London right now 20 Bitcoin ATM cash machines, last time I've checked few 4-5 months ago was around 12. In my workplace almost all my colleagues heard about Bitcoin but only a few trust it, it's bad press and big banks like JP Morgan that says negative things and people like sheeps listing and memorise it. I think 40% heard in UK. In Poland where I come from not many people heard about Bitcoin for sure, I will guess maybe 5% at best.

The creator of bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto, is a Japanese
we don't know who Satoshi Nakamoto is and where he or they are coming from. some even say Satoshi may be European, since the news headline that was encoded in genesis block was from a European country. Services there, even restaurants accepts bitcoin.
i have seen a lot of different shops accepting bitcoin over in japan but they usually are selling something digital like computers and cameras, etc, haven't seen a restaurant yet.

In my country, many have heard about bitcoin but does not know anything about it or thought of it as scam/pyramiding wherein they need to invite their friends for the price to increase. Most of the people here lack education about bitcoin. Also, the media always shows negative news about it. For the investors who have tried bitcoin or know something about bitcoin, I believe it's just less than 5% our population.

In Pakistan, my country, the number of people around who got knowledge of bitcoin is rising at very fast rate. The electronic as well as print media have now started including a good frame of headline for bitcoin like you can see at tribune.com.pk, there's always something new about bitcoin present there.
I've seen many people in Pakistan now keeping bitcoins as an investment.

You can hear a word and not know the slightest thing about it. I've no idea about my fatherland's stats but people who've heard the word must be well into the majority. Knowing what it is takes a few years. Understading what it is may take far long or more likely never.

i have seen a lot of different shops accepting bitcoin over in japan but they usually are selling something digital like computers and cameras, etc, haven't seen a restaurant yet.
In Serbia, bitcoin isn't that much known, tho it got a lot better in the last year or two, where I knew nobody that actually even knew what bitcoin is. Today, we have 3 ATMs, 2 restaurants, and a few caffes where you can pay with bitcoin and every second person I meet knows about bitcoin and have actually read something about it. What do we think the word 'heard' entails?

Well I assume that by that he means if you ask someone "you know about bitcoin?" he replies with "yeah, I've heard of it" or something like that.

Among those that have bitcoin, 47% said that they have used it in retail stores but long-term investment is most respondents’ main reason for purchasing bitcoin." This is not surprising considering that Japan is the most up dated in terms of technology. Assuming that the creator of bitcoin is really Satoshi then he is a Japanese. And considering further that Japan is the first country I guess to legalize bitcoin ,there is no doubt that Japanese are aeare of its existence. If Japanese get their rate that 88% of Japanese know about the bitcoin than it is a good sign for them. In my country the rate less than them because a half of our population use the internet and half of them will know about the bitcoin we need to advertise it and we are doing well. I hope bitcoin will know by everyone who use internet very soon.

I would say very high awareness in japan 88% is really very high. I think the reason behind this that government of Japan is also supporting bitcoin. But in my country I would say roughly 5-10% people are aware about bitcoin as of now because almost 30% population is residing in rural areas & until and unless the reach of internet everywhere in rural areas. It will not be widely known.

I think that in my country people who have atleast heard of bitcoin is around 60% since it recently become a trend in the cities and it is still continuously getting and getting more fame from different media sources. But if I will only include investors and people who are really involved with bitcoin then I think our country has around a roughly 40% of the population.

Probably not that much considering it's still an emerging market (my name only reveals where one of my vacation homes is, but really I'm from Europe). Some of the countries I've visited really are just starting to get into it, so a lot of potential. I'm glad Japan's going full out like that though.

At first I didn't know that bitcoin is popular here in the Philippines then few time passed and I heard that many of my schoolmates are now in to bitcoin. Then I explored the discussion pages then I saw that there is a separate forum for Filiponos so I think bitcoin is pretty popular here.

Japanese people are really techies where they embrace bitcoin's technology that leads to the speedy growth of its economy. Seems that they are all united as one towards one goal. In my country, i think, it's only 4 out of 10 have known bitcoin and the crypto and included in the 4 are people who have strong accusations that bitcoin is a scam. It's just so pathetic how these people doesn't know the good news of bitcoin.

Let's say about 50 or 60% in our country probably heard of bitcoin because some establishments here in our country are accepting bitcoin as mode of payment and can be used to cash out our money in our bitcoin which is definitely amazing because we are like one of the contributors for the increasing price and demand of bitcoin.

Same with my country. I think only around 20-30% at most know about the concept of bitcoin or cryptocurrency, in general. I think amongst the that percentage, only 5-10% actually delves in deep in to the bitcoin market and uses it for profit. Many may encountered it, but most are still not in the stage where they would want to actually risk it and try their hand in it because they are still unsure of how it will work out, or if it is a scam of some sort. Also, in my country, the government, the central bank, and the media are giving lots of negative vibe about it that prompts people to doubt it even more. Hopefully that would change because bitcoin can really do a lot of good for the market and local economy.

5% out of 261 millions is 11.5 millions. That is equal to almost half of the addresses with a bitcoin balance. Make it more like 0.05%. That would be closer to reality

The Japanese percentage is way better than the ones in my country. But I'd like to think and assume that the amount and number has risen ever since that surprising surge of price with bitcoins late last year. The moment it hit $20k, that was the big eye opener in my country. People were talking all sorts of stuff about it and several went into crypto the following year. I would like to say or speculate that it's around 35% to 55% that have already heard about bitcoins and 60% has no proper data about bitcoins and altcoins. I believe this will change in the coming months, bitcoin will be even more popular especially with the younger generations.

In my country also, the media coverage about bitcoins has increased over the last few months. It started happening after bitcoin prices touched the $10000 mark. Even when it was breaking all the records, the media here was showing negative news about bitcoins. In my country, people show more interest in negative news and thus the news channels try to focus on negative aspects more. However, seeing the growth in number of registered users on bitcoin exchanges in my country, I can say that more people are investing in bitcoins.

My country's population of todays times estimated would be 106 million for 2018 and only 2 million of our population overheard about bitcoin this means that if this huge population of my countrymen will become a part of the bitcoin community most probably bitcoin would be a lifetime alternative digital currency we could ever have.If this population stated was only with one country how much more when Japanese and other countries and government would behave in bitcoins existence and accept it as their virtual currency.Probably we can say that bitcoin will stay forever and there is no doubt that it will die through its popularity demands will probably grow.

In my country I think more than half are aware of bitcoins, but half of that I think is participating or are invested in bitcoins. Those people are well informed through friends and the internet, there is really no general awareness of cryptocurrencies most especially bitcoins in my country. The only thing t hat people heard of them mostly are by word of mouth through conversations and some documentary episodes on some national television stations. You would be surprise with the negative opinions people cultivate and speculate about bitcoins, there is a discerning amount of misinformed or false assumptions surrounding bitcoins and cryptocurrencies. I think the government has less interests with bitcoins in my country.

Our country belonge to the third world countries, and not many have access to internet connection, thus, limiting the number of people hearing and reading about bitcoin. And a study have not been conducted regarding awareness of bitcoin. But recently conference on a national level have been conducted in the country, so probably raised the awareness of he community. But as to percentage, we can't say for sure.

The difference between Japanese countries with my country is my country which is still a developing country and not everyone knows bitcoin because internet quality here is also still not good whereas japanese country state advanced even with quality internet. In japan have also received bitcoin as currency for legal payment, in my country (indonesia) still can not accept bitcoin as currency let alone for payment transaction.

I think that about half population of my country heard about Bitcoin. Unfortunately thanks to government's propaganda, most people believe that Bitcoin is a bubble or Ponzi scheme (without even knowing what it is). What a shame that politicians don't understand the potential of Bitcoin and they will try to fight with it. We all know that it is impossible to prohibit using cryptocurrencies. That's why my country will be late for another revolution. What a shame.

I am not surprised about the percentage of Japanese people who have known or into cryprocurrency. They are the one of the world's leading countries in technology and that's the reason why they don't hesitate to embrace the blockchain technology. I would say 90% of people who are using the internet knows about bitcoin. The question is how did they know bitcoin. Its sad that they see bitcoin as a scam. Unfortunately, bitcoin was used in NETWORKING to scam people. The scam was so huge that it only requires one whistle blower to tell the public how they scam. Bitcoin has a stigma in our country. Someday I will prove them that we can earn money on bitcoin without using other people.

Just like PalindromemordnilaP we are not suprised about what percentage and knowledge of Japanese people knows about bitcoin, we all know it, i hope a lot of people invest on it soon so that the value of bitcoin will rise again. In the Philippines i think its 20 to 30% but the 10% know bitcoin while the 10% to 20% heard but they don't give any attention to it, actually some of our banks here does not promote bitcoin because of some reasons they close some bank accounts that is related to it.

If 88 percent of Japanese have heard about crypto currency and 47 percent of them used to pay or just have their wallets, I'm sure it's the biggest figure in the world. It is necessary to recognize that Japan is far ahead of all countries in introducing crypto currency. In the world, I think, no more than one percent of the population know about the crypto currency. Even in countries such as China and Russia, the crypto currency has not heard 80 percent. What to speak of other countries. The Crypto-currency, you can say, is only just beginning to enter our world, and this process will continue to be protracted. Its result will depend on how successful the implementation of the crypto currency is in our daily lives.

This once again proves that Japan is one of the most high-tech countries in the world. I am sure that there are no such indicators of using crypto currency in any country. In most countries, no more than 15-20 percent is known about crypto currency, and the average figure will not be more than 1-2 percent. The crypto currency has a long way to go before it enters our life. I think that the big contribution to this should be made by tokens, which will work in different spheres and areas of our life. It is through them that people should appreciate the convenience and comfort from their use, because bitcoin as a universal coin can not afford this to people.

Among those that have bitcoin, 47% said that they have used it in retail stores but long-term investment is most respondents’ main reason for purchasing bitcoin." Japan has always been ahead in terms of Bitcoin adoption and use. While other countries have yet to formally take a look into it and craft legislation that would perfectly into the latest innovation in technology, Japan has already done so and has already allowed its circulation and use. As we all know, Japan is a lot more advanced than other countries, including mine. A lot of rich people here in my country have heard of Bitcoin for sure but since my country has a lot of poor people as well, I expect that there is still more than half of the entire population that does not have any inkling as to what it is.

Japan is a country that fully supports Bitcoin. In their country, 80% of people know that Bitcoin is not strange. Unfortunately, in my country, there are very few people who know Bitcoin, and most people know that Bitcoin is a scam or a bubble.

japan can be an example for bitcoin use, their Japanese state they accept and adopt bitcoin as legal currency, of course by legalizing its development bitcoin will increase and its users will increase. but different in my country, government slow in responding technology so bitcoin development is not very visible in my country, only a few percent of its citizens know and use bitcoin and the rest still do not know it

It is been called the bitcoin capital of Asia, Japan continuously making advancement in bitcoin investment and many of the Japanese people knew bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies very well. Other countries, particularly in Asia, might also take Japan as a role model in managing their own crytpcurrency exchanges. In my own country, majority of the bitcoin users are young and almost all of them used social media to to get the latest update on virtual currencies. Sad to say, only a minority knew about bitcoin if you compare it to other countries like Japan.

Here in India, I guess no more than 10% might have heard about the crypto-currency. There is a lot of negative propaganda going on in the major media outlets here (especially in the newspapers), and therefore we can expect most of these people to have a negative impression about the crypto.

I think maybe 60% in my country knows about bitcoin. Some leading media in my country had featured bitcoin in their network and i think that help bitcoin more popular in my country
That is a big number of people. This clearly indicates that bitcoin is highly popular in your country especially in the urban areas where people have an easy access to internet and mostly have their own laptops and pcs. This is happening because your government is supporting bitcoin. I wish and hope soon my state realizes that it is the need of present and future economics to let people deal in bitcoin...

If calculated by percentage, maybe in my country 10-15% people know bitcoin. But I think only about 7-10% alone that makes bitcoin as income or invest money. This is probably because in my country bitcoin dibanned and also the spread of uneven technology that causes few people to know bitcoin

Because they want japan to be the capital of bitcoin. And they accept/embraces bitcoin for the change so they started to use bitcoin. Bitcoin in my country is not yet accepted. Still hoping that it will become legal in my country.

Well, the reason as to why is because of the people in japan alone together with the president and the government officials that are open minded and are willing to adapt and accept all the benefits their country may get from the innovation that the crypto world can offer to their country. It would be pretty nice to have those kind of people here in my country. But sad to say, people here do not even try to learn more so they can understand the benefits that the crypto world can bring not just to our country but for the whole world. I wish someday something would make the people in my country be more friendly with new ideas for improvement.

Well, I can say that there's a large od proportiom that bitcoin has been known in our country because of news. However, bitcoin here has a notorious image due to scammers online. But I guess it is also their problem because they are relying too much on ponzis. I hope that one day one man could share his experience upon it so that the image of bitcoin could now change.

Japan is a small country which is thickly populated as well as the literacy rate of the Japan is much higher as compared to many other nations. The point which I want to make is that for crypto currency knowledge you must be in knowledge of internet and its usage whereas in my country there are people who still do not know what internet is and others only have access to the social media and that’s it, so in my country may be 10% (optimistically speaking) of the people know about this.

Well, my country has the same issues; however, Internet access has been rapidly being spread all over the country; I think that problem why people don't embrace or have interest with cryptocurrencies is the fact that some have this stereotypical idea that it is too technical or hard to learn, which makes them feel that it's just a waste of their time to try it. Another reason is the fact that the government and some media entities continue to somehow discredit how the market works and the advantages it can give because of the negative things regarding scams, its volatility, and the failure of many projects that lead to the assumption that it's not a safe market to invest or trade in.

Most of the teenagers here in the Philippines are well aware of bitcoin because of the growing trends of technology and their adventurous mindsets. I think most people know bitcoin if they have internet. They just need to keep digging for information about it if it piques their interests.

It does not matter whether the country poor or not but the matter is they can accept new technology which will be great in the future or not? Are they smart or not? If they smart take the chance of crypto, then they will open their eyes to accept bitcoin.

Most people in New Zealand have heard of bitcoin but i find most of the people i talk to have no idea what it really is.
This is the reason why bitcoin is so much popular amongst the people who are living in Japan as most of them know very well about this concept and there is a huge population living over there investing their money into it. There are not so many people who are aware of bitcoin in my country for now but I am very much sure that soon, this number will significantly increase and will lift the economy of the country too.

In my country today bitcoin pretty much in the know in the investment and hyip money game. in Indonesia there are still many who think bitcoin is ponzi. they do not really know what blockchain is. mining. post. pow and others. they know bitcoin is a digital coin that has value usd. and the Indonesian government also has not provided clear regulation for the use of bitcoin. hopefully there is a visible and useful inovation in the future to make a state government review what is bitcoin.

I don’t know how many people in my country know that Bitcoin is more easily accepted by young people as an investment commodity. If most people still prefer to invest gold in the world compared to gold, most people in Japan know that Bitcoin is because Bitcoin is legal in Japan, and I hope that more and more countries will be legal in Bitcoin, then the price of Bitcoin will fly to the moon

Like other developing countries, My country's people also getting familiar with Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency days by day. if you compare Japan with my country then it's too far to compare between these two countries. At present, people are taking this blockchain system but the rate of involvement people is too narrow in comparison with the total population.
That's why I think our country requires a lot of time for adapting to this blockchain system until our government will accept and let people suggest to do trade and investment in this platform.

In my country, I think I've been a lot of people who heard about bitcoin. may be less than 50% serious to learn it. I do not know what percentage of users have bitcoin assets and is already using it for transactions because bitcoin in my country has not been legalized yet.

Over here in Ghana, less than 5% know about bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. It recently seems to have caught the attention of the government and their first move was to try to regulate bitcoin which seems so dumb to me. I believe we are still developing as a country and by next 1-4years, 90% will know about bitcoin.

If we are talking of percentage, in our country we have an estimated 106Million. of that million of people Id say there are only a million whove heard of what is BTC, cause even my neighbor or classmates only heard it first from me. Thats only the part where we've heard it, the one who've used it must have been at the 1/4 of the million, and are increasing, so that's a hope. We are in a country where technoly is not that at large so we cant cope up with the things that are happening at the 1st world countries.

Among those that have bitcoin, 47% said that they have used it in retail stores but long-term investment is most respondents’ main reason for purchasing bitcoin." Yes, I think Japan is the most popular country for cryptocurrency. My country has not publicly accepted bitcoin, so there is not a lot of people who know it, and I think maybe only 5 percent know it. In the future I think my country will accept bitcoin.

In most third world countries it is obvious that bitcoin is not much heard of. The population in these countries is struggling for life and a computer, internet and even a cell phone is much too expensive. In the US and Europe Bitcoin is more popular and almost everyone has heard of bitcoin. In Asia bitcoin is also popular, but there are asian countries, where bitcoin is not so well known.

In my country bitcoin is still a problem in the economy so the government has not received the full bitcoin even suggested to the public not to use bitcoin in investing or transact so that there are still many people who are doubtful about bitcoin. Even so, maybe I think bitcoin users are still around 5% in my country but I am sure as many events or seminars about blockchain technology will be more and more people who know bitcoin.

Your post was written in 2017, I wonder if the number is around 90% , as for the country I'm currently staying in I definitely noticed more and more people showing interest in bitcoin in the past few months. I'm certain by the end of this year even more people will get into the field of crypto as the blockchain technology is quite remarkable!

my country is a developing country where we arnt able to buy bitcoins directly on coin base . The government has legalized the use of bitcoins however we don't have a proper infrastructure in place quite a few of people know about it and are even traders but they are looked on as the geeks of our society. This however is quite OK as we plan to lead by example , we plan to "wear our wealth on our sleeves" so pretty soon everyone will be interested once they see the financial benefits involved .

My country encounter bitcoin because of its negativity and being used to fraud and scam our people and it is mainly being focused in the Local media because of its dangers and risk of being scammed. But many people are using cryptocurrency facing the danger of being scam and the risk of losing investment. I don't know how many of my fellow country men are using it but I think we are morethan 100k people who are using it.

Even in the third world nations, a lot of people are having access to internet. Almost everyone owns a smartphone and a decent one can be purchased for as little as $50. If the transaction fee gets lower, then Bitcoin payments can become very popular among the mobile users.

Japan has enough infrastructures that allows their citizens to use bitcoin. Since the war possibilites in north korea is growing then it seems that people in japan and south korea are preparing to safe their wealth. Implement bitcoin as medium of exchange is not as easy as we think, it's not only about wallet in our smartphone but also need other software that will manage the transactions an make sure that there is no fraudulent in every transactions.

Don't really think that all those japanese saving their wealth in form of bitcoin for the upcoming war possibilities, it's just their country that really welcome to a new advanced technology and specially in this case, an advanced financial technology. Unlike 3rd world countries, 1st world country tends to advance their technology furthermore because it's the core of good civilization and japanese government or blockchain organization there always promoting bitcoin and othercoin through various advertising method so not surprised.

TV stations, newspapers and even our own government has tackled about what bitcoin is thus i believe a large number of our population knows the existence of bitcoin but i believe only a small portion of it are engaged in bitcoin, say 15% at the most.
15% is a huge amount, because world-wide there are only around 100 million Bitcoin users (1.5% of the global population). In the developing nations, this figure can be below the 1% mark. So I would say that the Bitcoin adoption in your country is 10 times higher than the global average.

Thats huge number from the Japan side and why it wouldn't be. I mean they already have recognised the bitcoin as legal tender and it is obvious that they will use it as primary source for transacting, earning and much more other activities. Thats why the number is huge. In my country, India, the number is not much in legal sense. I mean people might be using it but they might not wanna share the personal investment as we are under radar of income tax department. I would say the number is above 20-30% roughly but not sure as I am saying that by looking at the users of most wanted wallet in India.

I think a lot of people here in the Philippines know about bitcoin but most of the time they fear get into it because they think its a form of scam but some people think it is a way to make them rich but as mode of payment i think this is not suitable in this country and here in the Philippines when it comes to internet connection we are one of the slowest.

Yes, Japan legalized bitcoin. Japan is a good example for this. Here in my country, in the Russian bitcoin is already becoming popular.. According to the survey, 28% of Russians are aware of the existence of crypto-currency. Among them, 39% consider buying cryptocurrency profitable investment, and another 29% - reliable. Bitcoin is very useful and it is not that bad to learn about it.

88% is an impressive figure, especially if we compare it with the figures that would surely have in regions such as Africa or Latin America, and that speaks of the great technological culture of Japan that makes it an example to be followed by the other nations of the West.
In my country there is still a great ignorance in the field of cryptocurrencies, because the people of this country only use the Internet to watch funny videos on Facebook or YouTube, besides that the issue of finances is absolutely unpopular here. If 15% of the population in my country has heard of bitcoin, it would be too much.

In my country, just only those who discovered and knows how to join every Bitcoin projects were the one using it. Maybe 10 to 15 percent of us. Internet here is not been developed well especially when so far way from the City. People not been familiarized with Bitcoin. They always say that it is all scam. It takes time for some people to understand about Bitcoin. Through my experience, I was then hard, but I need to discover more about Bitcoin, as people who joined here made their dreams come true.

In the Philippines more people gaining knowledge about bitcoin and I think 40% heard about bitcoin 20% used bitcoin and 40% never heard of Bitcoin. This studies tho are based on quite low number of people questioned, so results could be not that accurate.

With Bitcoin getting better and better, people know that nature is increasing, and some people think that it is unbelievable, but people who really enter the industry are attracted by its enormous interest. People in our country It is also generally known, but few people actually enter this industry.

Here in my country i think Bitcoin is not that popular because our government is not in concern about it right now in which Bitcoin here is not declare legal but not ban so therefore we are not wasting this opportunity to earn Bitcoin without tax as much as we could because sooner or later when Bitcoin may become more popular and become famous here it will call the attention of the government and might make a move that may threat the existence of Bitcoin.

I don't have any survey behind my thinking, obviously, but if I were to estimate that number, I would say that it is between 10% and 20%. Bitcoin was recently a hot topic in media (mainly due to FUD that was raised by government-related groups of interest) and this is why I would say that it may be even slightly higher than that.

I agree, japan has been like a vanguard in the cryptocurrency world and somehow manage to make bitcoin acceptable in the eyes of the norm I observe that even here in a third world country where I stay a huge majority of people in the middle and lower class have somehow managed to heard and have a glimpse of what bitcoin is which is really outstanding.

same here with me because I am not very active to promote about bitcoin in my city but I often to said to my friends which don't know about bitcoin and tells them that I work in a job related with bitcoin. but I think from the last December, I think many people know about bitcoin but they don't think that it's a new way to make money because they still do traditional jobs in the office and they don't follow the news about bitcoin.

to see that so many people know about bitcoin in Japan, I have never seen such statistics released in my country, but I speculate that if they did I would guess less than 1% of the population of my country knows about bitcoin, even people who know about technology do not know anything about bitcoin and i know because i have chance to meet Bitcoin is big enough in Japan for a while now. Even Mt. The Gox scandal is basically based there. It would be hard not to hear it. Even so, even Japan, one of the most friendly countries for Bitcoin still has a long way to go. The title can be slightly misleading as it somewhat implies that Japan as a whole is becoming Bitcoin, but the majority

In our country people have old system of payment and using fiat currency for every work. They even do not know what Bitcoin is and for what Bitcoin has designed for these questions we must to introduce Bitcoin in public places for the knowledge of people that in future they must take benefit of the currency for future use as it will be the single future currency using as payment and every where as a single currency because of the easiness it has brought.

I can say that only around 5% of Filipino people are involved in Bitcoin. Just recently, Bitcoin's name has been stained because of Filipino scammers using Bitcoin as a payment method to their huge scheme. We have miners, traders, and ICO investors. We also have a ton of bounty participants. The only thing is not much of the people here are accustomed to payments using digital means. So Bitcoin is not really that of a daily currency. People here still choose paper money over digital/crypto and it's sad to live in a country like this.

yeah they heard of bitcoin from mainstream media, the sad part is. Bitcoin's name being tarnished by pyramiding scams and ponzi scheme using bitcoins name. So most people who is not tech savvy would assume bitcoin is a form of scam.

Among those that have bitcoin, 47% said that they have used it in retail stores but long-term investment is most respondents’ main reason for purchasing bitcoin." I'm not surprised to hear that 88 percent of Japanese people have heard of bitcoin and 47 percent have used bitcoin in retail stores. We all know that Japan is the world's cryptocurrency capital. The Japanese government is the most friendly country for encrypting currencies, and the government has encouraged people to participate in cryptocurrencies. My country is a developing country, the government did not explicitly accept bitcoin, so the bitcoin in my country is not very good, the development of the only few people know the bitcoin

https://news.bitcoin.com/indian-multi-industry-survey-bitcoin/In India, people are aware of bitcoin but only the creme and educated elite of the country which is keenly engrossed into the tech world. But most of the population that is unaware of the upcoming events in the tech world is totally unaware of this virtual world. this article also makes it clear that what section of the Indian population is mainly entrusted with the knowledge of the crypto world. One more thing to add on, as of now the scenario in India has changed a bit because of the media attention being paid to the recent statement release by the RBI regarding the discontinuation of bitcoin n cryptocurrency related transactions. So due to this recent buzz, more and more people are getting aware somewhat about this topic.

In my country Bitcoin is not known to everybody because Bitcoin has banned by our government in 2012. Our government also ruled that if anybody found using Bitcoin he/she will sent to Jail for at least 12 months so in our country people can't use Bitcoin freely. That's why Bitcoin is not so popular in our country and I think there are not more than 1% people who know about Bitcoin properly.

It is widely known in my country, but is not accepted by a few. They are still scared due to some giving it a bad image. Scams, hack threats etc. It is slowly getting a lot of attention though. Especially to the millenials and some adult are really getting into it.

In my country too bitcoin is often getting visualized in articles as well news channels. Here some articles show it as an innovation that is to make changes, while few try to degrade the value of bitcoin spreading negative news about the same. Its our responsibility to find the truth and act wisely.

Japan is a very technologically advanced country, and therefore the population there is educated in this matter. And it is not surprising that there everyone knows about bitcoin and actively uses it.

I would say this is so normal and typical for Japan. They are highly sophisticated country and all kind of technologies play very important part in the life of Japanese people. They easily embrace everything that makes their life easier and more progressive. Unfortunately, in my country the situation is not like that, people are much more traditional and not very keen to new technologies. I would say that maybe only about 5%, of overal population have heard of bitcoin.

Everyone tech savvy enough here has either mined or is mining cryptos. All the electronics stores are almost out of cards or at least they were before the decline of crypto prices. I would say 90% of the people owning computer hardware have heard about Bitcoin.

Woe that was impressive and i am not shock because they are a country that accepts innovation at all time that is why they are very much advance because the government are accepting any innovative ideas in that country. I wish that my country is like that tpo because here it seems like old people are very much afraid to change what they used to do they are not letting that much the future to come in that is why our country is not that competitive at all.in terms of innovation. But i think at least 40% of the people in our country know that bitcoins exist

I can't give the exact or any percentage as to how many people in our country have heard or have known bitcoin. But surely I can say that a great number of well-aware people in my own land knows about this. In fact in social media many of them knew it too. But sad to say a lot of them have doubts about it and thought it was just a scammed thing. Hopefully it will be outnumbered by people who are aware from the benefits of it.

I don't think that It is unusual, as It is Japanese who created bitcoin. Most of the people in Japan have got computer and internet access. But, in countries like ours where hundreds of thousands of people still don't have computer and internet access. So, not many people know about bitcoin and digital currency. But the number of people who know about bitcoin is growing rapidly.

Investing in encryption in Japan is about the same as investing in stocks in China, but encryption is forbidden in China.
The number of people who know about bitcoin and the rest of the crypto coins and are busy in investing of huge amount of their income in Japan is far more than that of any other country and that this is the reason why the government of japan is also taking so many steps in promoting of crypto currencies as they really know that this will help them in making their economy much stronger.

Probably the same percentage when it comes to the Philippines. Bitcoins are all over the news on the Philippines. Sometimes good, most of the time bad. The media creates this sort of stigma to prevent Filipinos from ever investing in cryptocurrency. Which is weird because scam artists here in the Philippines, they use bitcoins to lure in uninformed investors to invest on these scams.

I live in India and I can proudly say that almost 30% of Indians (which is quite a big number) know about Bitcoins. But the worst part here is, the Government and media's mixture is trying their best to mislead everyone about its properties by saying that it is a get-rich-quick illegal thing that is purely based on speculation and possesses no real value and that - it's used mostly in illegal activities like smuggling, drugs selling, extortion, etc. Basically, they are adding all types of crimes to the name of Bitcoins to outlaw it from India. I still believe that there's some hope of light because there are exchanges which filed a case against the RBI (Reserve Bank of India) objecting their decision regarding regulated banks to immediately stop dealing with such entities who deal in cryptocurrencies.

In my country, there are only few whi knows what bitcoin and cryptocurrency is. In fact, they know it as a scam and all the negative things they hear about it in the news and the social media. The world of cryptocurrency isn't that much explored since we are living in a third world country where nit all people has access to the internet. By which of course, bitcoin uses internet and such.

It is wonderful and quite encouraging to hear that this percentage of Japanese have heard of the virtual currency, bitcoin. It is not the case, in my country. I think the value is 23% here in my country. And information dissemination and education is partly responsible for this low figure.

well the difference between Japan and other countries is that Japan has adopted bitcoin as a legal way of payment which means they have accepted it as a currency,
This is my understanding too, still many developing countries are struggling for basic and common issues and needs of their people while on the other hand in developing countries there are no such issues as like japan that's why they can easily focus on other things too. I am not saying that bitcoin and cryptos are not that important, but in all such countries considering other basic issues bitcoin doesn't seems a serious issue to discuss.

Recently, I read information that in China and Russia, about 80 percent of the population did not hear about the crypto currency at all. I do not think that in other countries the situation is much better. Japan is very different from other countries, as, as everyone else says, it is a very high-tech nation that is very receptive to new technologies and is interested in them. In the US, this indicator of knowledge about the crypto currency is somewhere between 30-40 percent. If you look at the average, in the world, as I think, about the crypto currency knows about 10 - 20 percent of the population.

It is normal since Japan is an industrialised country. Bitcoin and other trending things can easily adapt by every Japanese people because they are all technological oriented. In my country, I thing 30% of the population have a knowledge regarding with bitcoin and 10% of them really knows about cryptocurrency because 20% are just aware from bitcoin as a largest valued digital currency. Even in my class, 3/13 people knows about bitcoin but they are confused about cryptocurrency and I explained it to them since I have a few knowledge about that.

But I believe that in such time, Bitcoin will be widely recognize that almost all of us will know and start using Bitcoin for our own good purpose which is to gain income and make our lives comfortable.
