Since I seem to have started this questioning of elamberts commitment and image I guess I should respond, firstly to thank him for his response. It wasn't quite the statement of pure dedication that I would have loved, but it would have been silly and unfair of me to realistically expect that, and the dude replied at a time when he could have simply said, sod this, I'm at a wedding, I'll deal with this crap when I get back (which is what a lot of people would have done).
I can kind of see where the issue with the 'professional image' comes from, but why the hell should we expect elambert to become some faceless entity with no life for the sake of anything, let alone something that is peer-to-peer. For me, peer-to-peer is a big part of why I got into cryptocurrency. It represents people providing a service in a better way than that service would otherwise be provided by a faceless entity that is blind to everything but profit. The people behind CGB are what makes it. Development team and community. I prefer it that I know some stuff about elambert, much better than being told some anonymous dudes trying to get me to invest, but hey, he's not willing to reveal anything at all (like it is with a lot of altcoins). That is majorly dodgy to me.
Anyway, from what I've read so far it seems like this new structure is good. Things seem to have been given a bit of a kick with recent events and I now have more confidence in the coin than I did. Hopefully it will continue, and keep the info coming guys. I'm sure there are some new ideas in the works, keep the community up to date and involved and if there's anything we can do, say so. Keep up the good work. Thanks.
Thank you for the kind words Trevor, I do appreciate it. To reiterate what PSD said, the newly assembled team did have our first of recurring meetings last night to align the new development team and to discuss the direction for CGB. The meeting went extremely well and I am more excited than I have ever been at the level of interaction, creativity, passion and team work exemplified. CGB is in very good hands! Our Director of Marketing and Strategy, PSD, will be making a formal announcement soon to update the community of the ongoings with the development team and most importantly the development of CGB. Stay tuned my friends and thank you for your faith and support!

Can your next wallet update also add the ability to see the network hashrate?
Thanks

CGB Core Team Meeting Update – March 4, 2014See the Reddit post on /r/CryptogenicBullion for more discussion.I would like to thank you all for being so patient with us through this unexpected and yet amazingly constructive change. As you may know, our former lead developer Mercury Stills has abruptly resigned from his post. Amid the ensuing chaos and buying opportunity, we saw a rallying of the community in support of Cryptogenic Bullion and the new core team which has assembled in such speed that it attests to the real strength of our community. We all know why we are here, we know what CGB represents, and we know that nothing could damage the real fundamentals at play. We have just concluded our first official team meeting (yesterday) and I want to keep everyone up to speed with what's happening and how everything is moving forward. Our team has over doubled in size to a total of 7 dedicated members. Elambert – Founder, Leader Artiface – Lead Developer papersheepdog – Director of Marketing and Strategy x0rcist – Core Team Member Killiz – Core Team Member Ethapus – Core Team Member (non-public) – Core Team Member We are all very excited to be working together in an official capacity as we have been building relationships and working together within the community as CGB has developed. A lot has been accomplished especially in the last 5 weeks and we are poised to launch into the next phase in the life cycle of Cryptogenic Bullion. A new client version has been completed today and is undergoing pre-release testing. It includes an updated checkpoint, new logo design, and a few other tweaks guided by community input. Work will begin immediately on the next version which will be merging a number of code fixes form the Novacoin tree from which Cryptogenic Bullion was originally created. Though we have not encountered any problems, we are currently studying the option of reducing the minimum coin age for staking at full interest. This would not affect the inflationary expectations but could help to better secure the network. We have put a new block explorer up at http://blocks.gotcrypto.net, and have moved our official website to the new address http://www.gotcrypto.net while we work out an arrangement to have the original domain transferred back to the community. Our overall goal over the next week is to identify the tasks at hand and get a feel for the work load and team specialties. Everyone is welcome to check out the CGB Community Development and Marketing Strategy document if you wish to participate or offer your ideas. Thank you all again for your support! The CGB Team

This is all very good news - really like the momentum you guys are pushing, and the price of CGB is responding as a result Excellent work! Can your next wallet update also add the ability to see the network hashrate?
I love this idea! Current difficulty too would be handy as it is all available from the block chain - will give investors a top down view of what the global mood of CGB is in real time

These are doable ideas, but I think going forward network hashrate and difficulty are not going to be as important. POW rewards are declining and we are going to rely much more on POS to keep generating blocks and secure the network. This is the point of having POS, to reduce the need for mining and still keep transactions moving and the network secure.
In the future I would like to have the client have a nice visualisation of POS showing stake weight and an estimate of when stake should be generated.

Hey there, I've downloaded the new client (just now, today) and the blockchain has synced. Yet I'm still getting the warning about "checkpoint is too old ...". Do I have to delete the entire blockchain and redownload it? What am I missing?
I didn't make any changes in my ~/.CryptogenicBullion directory when I downloaded the new client.

The new client is not released yet. If you downloaded the current link on the website it is still version 1.1.6.5 It is in testing and should be released soon, still waiting on all the feedback from testers, then will commit changes to github and release the new builds.

I see. I guess it's that my previous version was older than 1.1.6.5 so that's why I thought I had the new one. I guess everyone currently has the "too old" warning then? Finally, am I supposed to clear out my blockchain files when I upgrade or is it okay to keep my ~/.CryptogenicBullion/ dir as was?

There does seem to be a slight issue with this checkpoint thing, I've had it for a while and no matter how many times I've deleted all kinds of things and redownloaded etc. it seems to persist. It doesn't affect the operation of the wallet, so I'm still using it and not too worried (should I be?). There seems to be something that is causing certain people to consistently miss receiving the latest checkpoint.
On the idea of stats within the wallet, I initially thought this was a bit pointless, but I actually now think it is a brilliant idea that will help differentiate CGB. Think about it... we are absolutely surrounded by altcoins with all their differences (or similarities!) but the vast majority have the exact same looking client. (I only have a handful of different alts so could have missed a prominent altcoin with a radically different client). If CGB has a client that is actually unique, that in itself lends a huge amount of legitimacy to the coin, and if these features are also smart/useful (like live stats) it showcases the quality development team behind it, rather than just suggesting their capabilities are limited to cloning another client. This would presumably be a bit of work, but I think it would be worth it. I think it would be really worth doing something like this before any kind of marketing drive too. Although I am no expert I do have a bit of experience in beta testing software and hunting out obscure bugs, I'd be happy to do this on any new client.
Just my 2 mBTC, I'm sure you guys have things in hand, keep up the good work!

Yes, the last checkpoint in the 1.1.6.5 client is from December, almost 100,000 blocks ago. The new client should not require you to re-download the blockchain or change anything in the CryptogenicBullion data dir.

i also doubt elambert good deeds after he stole reddit from guy who had it for 1,5 year.
We all remember it was you, under the name igl00. Or do I need to pull up the screenshots of you pretending to be someone else. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=245086.msg5128660#msg5128660You had the subreddit 3 months (not 1.5 years - CGB is not even 1.5 years old!) and posted 6 low quality posts, then you were trying to moderate things against the will of the community. Please stop trying to cause drama here.
