Honestly, this never crossed my mind but I think you are right. I think Thanksgiving and Christmas this year are going to contribute massively to Bitcoin value increasing. However, with that said then most likely in January we will see a huge crash. Think about it... a bunch of people all over the world will get BTC for their presents and then want to sell them to get money because they don't care about it and just want to buy stuff with it, and this big worldwide global dump is going to crash the markets.

There is no hard fork coming. I think what will probably come is a soft fork which is Bitcoin Silver. I am now waiting for some more updates on this since the news that first came out were at best fuzzy and vague. But I think more than the fork coming, the top reason why Bitcoin is seriously pumping in the past weeks is that the demand has really risen to an All Time High. There is no other to take for Bitcoin but really up since the coin is very limited and the demand is increasing every day.

I do not think it is a pump as much as new money coming in from big and small players alike. You need to keep in mind there can only ever be 21 million bitcoin, and some of those are already lost forever, locked up in wallets with lost keys, and some will need to be mined yet over the next couple of decades. So you have a situation with only ~16 million coins being available, with many of those in cold storage for the long term and places like Coinbase signing up 100,000 new users a month. While they all won't be buying one whole bitcoin, you can see where even if you want one the supply is fairly fixed and the demand is continuing to increase.

It was one thing 3-4 years ago when maybe 100,000 people in total were competing for those coins, but now conservative estimates show that there are more people involved in cryptocurrency than there are bitcoin in existence. Granted, not all of them can afford to buy 1 whole bitcoin, but in the next year or two more and more people will be coming into this space and the supply of cheap bitcoin will continue to go down, meaning the price needs to go up.

So while we will most certainly continue to have ups and downs, I do not think the predictions of a big crash back to $2,000, $3,000 or even $5,000 are very realistic. Even if this did happen you can be sure big investors would be waiting to buy up as many as they could, meaning the price would shoot up and they would then be more than happy to sell you your bitcoin back at 10X the price you sold it at to them.

itll happen long before then, we've got a bit over a month before the year is over, and bitcoin was just over 9000 yesterday when i took a look. taking a quick peek at it now, seems its come up to 9500 pretty much overnight. havent really kept up with the news on bitcoin over the past few days, but whatever is going on, it's raising the demand for bitcoin in the entire market quite substantially, enough for what is essentially a ~5% increase overnight, which is insane. that being said, it doesn't necessarily imply a bubble resulting from the price spike, it could actually just be organic growth we're seeing. wouldn't surprise me with all that's been happening in the last few months.

I don't think investors will give an attention to the upcoming Bitcoin Diamond fork, just look what happened to the possible-scam Bitcoin Gold that already advertise a fraudulent wallet on their website and now facing an issue. I am not sure if this is going to have any affect at all, because some people are saying that these futures are not going to be investments into actual bitcoins, so these companies are not going to stock up on bitcoins for this.

The hedge fund would make some sense, but that will only have an affect, once this has been approved. They will not be buying, before the approval was granted.

The news right now is that the CME, Group will be adding bitcoin futures to their exchange.  The Chicago Mercantile Exchange is the largest commodities exchange in the world.  So here comes Wall St Money.  I hear people talk about BTC at 10K by the end of the year.  That is foolish in my opinion.  Once that big money starts to come in, who will be selling? However, once the bitcoin holders reach their limit and start cashing out, bitcoin's price will eventually dropped, allowing the supply to flow back into the market to balance everything once again.

No doubt that after the fork in the bitcoin is results into the big pump in the bitcoin price , During the first fork in this year we seen that everyone got bitcoin cash ( BCC ) , so for the next fork people get ready fully and bought more and more bitcoin to get free bitcoin gold . These two things increases the price of the bitcoin much , As after this another fork are also coming in the mid of the Feburary so people are also ready to get new another coins free so they are making buy more and more bitcoin .

Segwit getting cancelled did show in the price, as it shows that Bitcoin can overcome, and other forks don't really effect the price of bitcoin. I think the reason It's increasing is a snowball effect people see it rise and buy in. Also usually the reason it would go down is bad news and no bad news recently.

I really has not had about any hardfork coming up but I really believe that some whales has enter into the market and they are pumping bitcoin up seriously. The coin went up as high as $11,350 three days ago and currently around  $10,400. The price may get to $12,000 before end of December and January 2017 bitcoin might hit $15,000. I think the buying momentum is very high and many are not ready to sell their coins.

Someone that is already rich does not have as much incentive to invest in bitcoin since he is already happy with his financial situation, it seems to me most people that invested in bitcoin were people with enough money to buy bitcoin but that want to improve their lives with their investments.
