I have 12 Bitcoins. I am not a whale. I started about 6 months ago with 0.01 Bitcoins and $1000. I turned it into 12 Bitcoins so far and am pretty proud to say the least.
My question is, what do I do now?
As far as I can see, I have 4 options;
1) Hold the Bitcoin
2) Invest in altcoins and leave a little in Bitcoin
3) Fund a project and start my own cryptocurrency that solves a problem that current currencies face (scalability, Tx fees etc.). With the funds, I would be able to assemble a team, start a marketing campaign, get listed on exchanges etc. I am also a programmer which helps.
4) Convert it to fiat (probably the dumbest idea)
Edit: I should also add, I dropped out of school and have all the time in the world so can fully commit to any idea. I will earn my living of cryptocurrencies.
A few people have asked how I made my money so, if you are interested, here is a short summary:
Initially, I put it all into Bitcoin during the massive FUD of the fork around June when Bitcoin dipped to $1,900. Then I put half my money into NEO before all of the hype at around $12 and cashed out at $40. Then I invested in a couple ICO's and turned a pretty good profit of off the hype. After that, I got back in on NEO as soon as China announced the regulations regarding ICO's and rode the wave back from around $20 to $40 (I can't quite remember). Then, I rode the hype of Ethereum Dark, eBitcoin and a few other airdrop scams (after bribing a few of the devs, I got massive discounts in comparison to market prices and drove the volume up on their respective markets to get them listed on coinmarketcap which catapulted their price). Finally, I got in on Wincoin before it got to coinmarketcap and turned a 20x profit.
Your bitcoin is quite big already and I think if you want to continue doing what makes it bigger, then do it. It's a great privilege in your case to have such amount of bitcoina and I think some people are wishing to have that amount of bitcoin in their wallet. You already have the bigger chance to invest in whatever you want to invest because you have bigger bitcoin.

Im wondering how did you get that 12btc when you said you just joined six months ago. Well anyways, 12btc is no joke. Just hold some of it, after let's say 5yrs. You'll be so rich. And you can also do trading, it is a big amount you can make a lot of trading out of it. It is a good experience if you get to be involve in trading it will expose you in the market and you can learn strategies while trading.

I think holding it is the best option. We all know, bitcoin prices continue to rise from time to time, especially now often happens split / hardfork that produces new coins with good price, this is like rewards from holding bitcoin

If I would be having this much of BTC at the moment, I would first cash out some amount of it by converting to fiat first, then would invest in some quality project as that'd help me multiply that at the same time and would hoard the rest for the future

If you were able to turn 0.01 btc and the 1000 dollars into 12btc then dont change the formula that works ,😀 you could hold and wait for $20k or more before you cash out your investment.

Convert to fiat definetly is the dumbest idea. If don't know what to do just hold it. In time you'll get the idea.

Don't even know why you are asking us what to do with your bitcoins. As far as I'm concerned you've done better than the majority of us, given the amount you have started with, and the number of coins you now have. Maybe you didn't have anything to lose back then, and now you see that you've accumulated some decent wealth and you are now afraid of losing it. If this is true, then I would say you should hold it.
If you think you can keep your shit together now that you would be trading at a different level, then you should continue to do what you have been doing all this time because apparently you are making good decisions.

It is not dumbest idea, read this: Edit: I should also add, I dropped out of school and have all the time in the world so can fully commit to any idea. I will earn my living of cryptocurrencies. What would he use for his living if he only holds and never sells? I don't think he can live from air, right?

option 1 is a good choice and you can try with option 2 which is invested in altcoins. you can invest again in ico like you did but always research before you buy the tokens. I see bitcoin price can increase more in short term so you can make another profit again. but I don't think that convert it to fiat is the dumbest idea because you still need the money to buy something in your real life.

Sell 25% if you are satisfied with the price and hold 75% for the future to get higher profits.

The most sensible solution would be to diversify. Part exchange to broadcast and other violas, some just to hold, as the most reasonable solution is to keep a steadily growing asset

If I were you I would keep it in safe as it is the only coin that gives gains on value as well as new offerings of it s family.
From BTC
you have already got 8 bitcoin cash
you will be getting 8 bit coin Gold and 8 segwitx.
You can do you investment on altcoins using your BCH.

Simply hold it and be very careful about the potential bitcoin crash, which it is bound to happen in the near future. I do believe that bitcoin will survive the crash but you better get profit out of the temporary crash.

Hold them till it reaches $10K! It seems you are good at trading altcoins. So why not hold and invest again!

I don't think you need any advice from anybody, if you can turn 0.01BTC to 12BTC in 6 months, most people posting here do not have that huge portfolio and will be proud to be in that position, just stick will what you have been doing right
