Another country that will be left in the dust, the problem with your government  instead of doing research, they do what mostly normal people do, they listen to the neg rap.  Governments are just people that are ruled with no brains.

Zimbabwe is proof that the people in society are even smarter then the government

I did hear this information in several places. personally i am a person who is close to indonesia and i have not heard any official statement from indonesian government. It looks like an issue but should be kept in mind as there are several important elements that have supported this information. I am worried that the Indonesian government's stance will make Bitcoin a decrease in the price. We all know that Indonesia is one of the biggest markets of Bitcoin users today. The number of transactions in the country of Indonesia can be regarded as top ten. I may be more waiting for what the next step will be taken Indonesian government, the attitude of the Indonesian government will determine the development of Bitcoin in the country of Indonesia. In addition any decision made by the Indonesian government will at least affect the development of Bitcoin globally.

I still find the people from Indonesia accepts the bitcoin selling in localbitcoins bro. Wait for authentic release to find in your news paper these kind of rumour will not be legit some time.
So if you have any bitcoins now you please sell it out as soon possible and convert it as cash. If you find the people using bitcoin your country check all those you will get more information. Then still converting bitcoin to cash to not at all problem here.

Relax dude, even the government of Indonesia bans the bitcoin and any other related with bitcoin still there are way to cash out your profit from the bitcoin, you can sell bitcoin via skrill, neteller, localbitcoin and other way. I think the bitcoin be banned by government of Indonesia just will makes the digital coins will be crashed but it will not kill the bitcoin on Indonesian people, so let's think to get out from this problem and never blame the government of Indonesia, we just need change the strategy investment in the bitcoin and other digital coins, everything will be fine.

To my knowledge, so far there has been no official decision from the government that declared a ban on the use of bitcoin in Indonesia, and unilateral declarations from banking sector Indonesia hasn't been realized by the government in this country.
and i think it will take time for the government to consider and realize about Bank Indonesia's proposal for a ban on bitcoin.

Sorry to hear that. It's unfortunate, but also inevitable that some governments will try to ban cryptocurrencies.

I wouldn't panic yet. I doubt the government is doing sophisticated packet analysis on your web traffic to detect Bitcoin network activity, and if they were, you can use VPN/TOR. You can continue to mine. You can probably still open an account at lots of brokers/exchanges. Some will prohibit Indonesians based on the ban, but you can use VPN/TOR for those that don't enforce KYC (Bitfinex, Bitmex, Wex, Binance, etc).

The main issue is liquidating BTC to Rupiah to cover electricity costs. Withdrawing fiat money from exchanges requires KYC, so you might need to start trading P2P for withdrawals into your bank account (or Skrill, Neteller, Payza, Paypal, etc). There's a Currency exchange subforum for that, or you can check out Localbitcoins.

Localbitcoins and OTC are your only options if indeed your country will ban bitcoin. I think you need to look at how Chinese doing it right now, although the Chinese government is putting a hard lined stance, the bitcoin community is still thriving and doing OTC trading. I'm not sure though if they banned and started to look at people doing bitcoin activity though, so I suggest you need to take some precautions. I'm really sorry for Indonesian bitcoin community because most of them have look at bitcoin as their main source of income so a lot of them are going to be affected by this news.

Just one of their devious methods just to avoid having people's freedom in moving their money because they can't find a way to manipulate money in the bitcoin which is why they are banning because if they can't control something then its useless for some corrupt officials. In anyways mate I think it is not yet official so continue doing what your doing and cash out now while you can.

I'm Indonesian, and I'm a little bit anxious about this. But if you think back, people can always find ways to access and manipulate the government's boundaries. For example, such as porn sites, gambling sites, and various other sites that are considered dangerous and disturbing for the government. Such sites are blocked, but the fact is, nothing can really be blocked. And if I look at the comments of friends here, I think we can still take profit from Bitcoin and sell Bitcoin. We can sell Bitcoin to our fellow Indonesians, but we can also sell Bitcoin to foreign people and convert our Bitcoin into dollars. After the dollar, we sell our dollars and we can make money.

Reading through the article suggests that the intending ban is going to be a massive one if successful. This will equally send a panic to the market over there but because the population of people country does not constitute a major bloc in the entire market, that is why we still haven't felt it.

Before decision is made on whether you want to cash out, try to study how they intend to effect the ban because the painful thing is pushing you to sell then realising that they don't even have both the technological and human capital to push the implementation forward and the timing it will come to effect is equally important

Why government needs to banned a great technology like bitcoin? Another country that ate trying to manipulate people. Just put your bitcoin in a safe wallet and for sure you can still use it in other country or later on Indonesia will finally adopt bitcoin.

Bitcoin.co.id is the biggest exchange from Indonesia with more than $22m daily volume. And they have legality of the company that verified by the government it self. With this news, I see something weird when the government have issued the legality of a bitcoin company, and now they will ban bitcoin? They looks like not really did research on bitcoin.
As long as there's no official statement from Indonesian government, ignore it.

If they are not going to restrict Internet then simply use VPN service and keep, trade and move your Bitcoins or crypto via abroad based wallets & exchanges.
If you nee to get USD simply exchange your BTC to USD via e.g. Skrill.
Good VPN service is a powerful way to get access to services, restricted locally.
For example, a lot of countries block gambling websites locally but .... millions of people bet and gamble, using VPNs.

Some countries are banning Bitcoin and Cryptocurrencies for one reason, they don't want their sovereign money to invest into a bubble item that is the volatility is high.
Imagine, the people will loose $10,000 in a blink just to own a single coin that is intangible.
They're not after with Crypto-Currency as the future of economy and trade, they just doesn't want to let their people loose their money and let western and European countries dissolve their money in the thin air.

you live with bitcoin for 6 years and have earned income? woow .. that's amazing and makes me jealous.
commenting on your statement about the Indonesian government's attitude prohibit bitcoin, I think we need not fear and worry. because today we can still feel the result of bitcoin, by exchanging it to IDR.
as long as there is no firm rule of the government about ban bitcoin, we make a chance today to continue to mine bitcoin until our wallet is full.

I looked this issue as a result and side effect of many ignorant Indonesia bitcoiners
many Indonesians, regardless how small or big their income, are evading taxes deliberately
and government see the potential of losing more tax income from mass wide bitcoin adoption
aside the obvious reason fear of laundering money and terrorism related usage
many Indonesian people (read: bounty hunters) keep telling themselves that bitcoin income is NOT taxable
and neglecting their tax duties/responsibilities while their income already past the yearly non-taxable income (PTKP)
their reason is based on the idea no regulation no tax and I keep saying where there is income there is possible tax

Yearly non-taxable income is similar to Standard Deduction in US tax law
FYI our yearly non-taxable income for singles is Rp.54 million ~ $4,150
if not mistaken US Standard Deduction for singles is $6,300 please any US citizen cmiiw
many Indonesians here do signature campaign & trading as main source income but refuse to report and pay taxes
I explained clearly in a few threads in local boards, PAY YOUR TAXES... or at least report and clear your tax matter
we bitcoiners should set an example as a law abiding citizen to pay taxes on our bitcoin income

The more Indonesian bitcoiners pay their taxes related bitcoins
The more attention the government will facilitate or discuss about bitcoin matter on the legislation level
Remember Tax will be and should be imposed on any bitcoin income and realized capital gain on bitcoin
my post started sound like a rant than a discusion... I'll better stop now
