in a year or 2 i guess there will hundreds of bitcoin forks,so far:

Do they have a real use, or is it a money grab by the forkers?

Same thing as with ICOs, you need to be looking at the benefits of the project. Whether there are some features that can be of any use for the community or not. Many forks are just useless. This fork offers something innovative, that's why I like it. It's essential devs manage to make it happen, but so far so good

Can you explain me the proccess of a fork?

Fork is basically a change to the software of the bitcoin that creates two separate blockchains with a shared history. It means that once the Bitcoin Atom fork takes place, there will be 2 different blockchains from then on with same transaction history, while one will go further as bitcoin (BTC) and one as bitcoin atom (BCA). I hope it makes sense.
