.. Their brokerage fees are brutal.
Fedex/UPS/DHL - ~$60+13%HST+Duties if any

USPS - nothing on the receiving end

Still if you want things fast I'd go with Fedex.

Thanks for the suggest  Syke - we'll look into USPS for International.  I was considering DHL Global

DHL Global is really good, but it'll cost ya.

+1

I've been taken by fedEx crossing the border a number of times. Their brokerage fees are brutal.

But if you want something overnight from USA->Canada they are the only game.

I can for wait for it and I dont need any overnight shipping.

ps: some people could wait for a year order from BFL ship out miners.

Hi Dave, Are you using USPS for shipping?

Its not determined yet.  I tend not to use USPS in favor of UPS/FedEx.  We are working on getting a good price for standard shipping (which is free), but also an affordable option for people to upgrade to expedited.  I expect about 90% of orders will want to get it in a day or two - every extra day mining will easily justify that cost.

I will be sending all shipments as signature required.  I think its prudent to choose an insured shipment, but it does add significant cost.  If the poll shows that we have equal desire for under-insured vs full insured, then I'll just put up a combo that suits everyone - it will add some overhead for our shipping team though and that will cost.

I doubt you would pull something like this but I really would hope that the expedited shipping would be offered at cost or at a small profit. I paid $724 to BFL to get the equipment I have now shipped overnight, and I'm quite familiar with the cost of express shipping as I processed my own to send in my trade-ins - even UPS Next Day Air Early AM for a much bigger and heavier shipment is only $250. So I imagine BFL paid $150 at most to overnight those units to me and docked the rest as profit. Before anybody asks: yes I did make out of that investment, as it were. However the point remains that BFL is simply taking advantage of the situation with regard to expedited shipping and it would be appreciated (but already expected) that the same situation would not occur with Bitfury.

I believe it adds overhead to offer this service, so yes I plan to mark it up.  I don't plan to gouge customers, but I don't plan to eat the costs either.

Please only use USPS to ship to Canada.  FedEx, UPS, etc tend to charge absurd brokerage fees usually equivalent to 15-20% of the declared value of the item.

Or use DHL to Canada.  Brokerage fees are more reasonable with them as well.

I ordered some July chips so we can get started on our design, I could sure use the board source files to have something to compare to.  I'm mainly just interested in the single chip breakout board design for now, but later we'll also want to chain them so the other design will be useful to look at as well. I found the pinout xls in the other thread.

If it will cost several days' mining to cover the brokerage fees, no thank you. priority USPS services should deliver within a week

24" PCI-E cables with 16AWG wires and stripped ends - great for server PSU mods, best prices https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=563461
No longer a wannabe - now an ASIC owner!

Our company uses UPS for US shipments (for 9 years that I've been here + 1yr FedEx, +1yr DHL). We probably have between $10k to $20k monthly bill from them, so you can imagine the volume.
We have tried FedEx and DHL for US shipments but none of them could match quality and customer service that we get from UPS.

So... Some of the times in the past when I ordered stuff from the states and thought I ended up paying like 35% duty, that was actually just the HST and a brokerage fee?  That's terrible.

If you guys live in the Toronto area you can always ship to CBI and pick it up there yourself.  Save on brokerage/handling fees.

EDIT: Don't have to be in Toronto but if you are close to the Buffalo border

Ship to CBI (cbiusa.com) which is near the rainbow bridge border.  CBI is a package/delivery warehouse that lots of Canadians use to buy stuff from the States because you can use a US address.

There is a package pickup fee ($6?).  And the only thing you need to do is drive there to pick it up.  Oh, and pay any customs fees when you bring your packages back.
