i think qtum is good project and it decreased alot these days .i believe it will pump in 1 or 2 days. i dont research enough to what happens in long term so i dont know what will it be in long term. my long term altcoin is powr . they working very hard and doing a lot of staffs right now i believe it will grow enarmously in long term

I think Siacoin and Cardano would've been really good choice. Siacoin in marketcap is currently up 8.7% and it can be up to 15% and Cardano currently has position 5 i think will rise to position 4 above Bitcoin Cash.

The coins are new and will surprise us very soon as they did in the past. I'd recommend investing in that coin

As for January 2018 it's Ethereum and Ripple. Two altcoins that may replace bitcoin in the future. Technically they are better than bitcoin. Their growth rate is good enough to invest. Remember, a year ago bitcoin costed $1000 just like Ethereum now. So, why Ethereum cannot cost $15k too?
