Buy low, sell high.
Study some technical analysis , Elliot waves, rsi, volumes, MACD crosses, dojis, patterns, Fibonacci retracements... All will give you good tools to find the best moment to sell

its depends on you. But the first rule is never get attached to any name. and don't greedy too much. If you at profit at least above 20% start selling your coin not all maybe 20% and wait.If it goes high then sell again maybe 20% again. if it's going down to 10% profit sell high amount. but never sell all your coins. And hold your coin if it's on red spot. Never sell in lose if its a good coin like top 20. I follow this strategy. It helps me you can make yours. Just follow the rule never greedy and don't get attached.
P.S.-Always at least save 10% for long-term investment maybe 2-3 years.

if the price of altcoins is high on the market, there is no specific date, so I dont really know when is the right time to sell altcoins, as long as its price is high and you already gain profit, its good to sell.

We should keep track of everything like investment and what price etc. Once the market is in upward trend then it is good to sell them but before selling, we need to do some calculation whether we are making any profit. Otherwise, we have to hold them until we make some decent profit.

I think the same as all of us . If the price has increased and you can make money on it , you need to sell .

It's very simple, when the price is lower than I bought I do not sell . When the price is several times higher , I sell

The "formula" that i usually use is mostly looking for at least 20-30% profit whenever i invest in an altcoin. but that is not set in stone and it changes quite a bit. It is very easy to know when i'm sell my altcoin . if i'm buy $3 par coin and when it is reach $6 i'm sell on that time.

For me,  when I invest in ICOs,  once the project starts reading at x3 I recoup my initial investment to invest in other ICOs  and also take a little profit for myself. So I won't regret or have to panic sell when the price falls.

Most people don't have a specific or particular time they sell their alt coins, while some sell if they notice any rise
but for I invest /buy altcoins in the beginning of the year and sell them off at the end of the year, and also repeat same procedure the next year,

Indeed it is.
Most people, including me, can not get the best time to sell altcoin. Many people are also regretting why after the sale of an altcoin, the price of the altcoin has been rising, regret.
This is a world class problem.
The recent IOTA, up 25,000 times.

This happen to me as well. After selling our coins during december for around 3K USD, it jump into 150K USD in January. It's really painful but lesson learn. I'm really using any formula on when to sell the coins. If I need money, then I don't have a choice but to sell it. By reading on this forum maybe I could have a good insights on this.

Just wondering if ya'll have a typical formula you go by or a certain X percentage profit or loss.

I've been playing around with coins for just under a month now. $23750 total investment and currently up just under 10k in profit. One of the coins (IOTA) has gone up about 288%.  Obviously it would suck if it crashed but it would equally suck to sell if it continues to grow.

Just wondering what a lot of you folks do. I'm considering investing another 25 or 50k into coins. Ideally I'd like to net 15k a month off them but I know that may not be realistic on a monthly basis.

It depends on your target. I sell initial percentage of tokens in every small spikes or i sell it in one go if it suddenly pumps. Some wants to sell for a higher percentage thus waiting for a bit long, I am happy to sell whenever i see profit, though it hurts to see the coin go up once you sold it, but we can never know when is the peak most of the time.

They say it is best to leave a position when the ovation is loudest. I apply this principle when trading long term. If the coin starts to moon, a lot of people will talk about it. Whales might likely will move in to pump it further. At this stage, many more people will FOMO. This period is when I take my profit and watch from the stands because the whales will want to cash out their profit and dump. It always happens like this. If you hodl for too long you will get dumped on. Get out when the ovation is loudest!

same thing happening with Hydro right now. Whales are beginning to dump

i know it when the price at least already reach about the double price of the ICO, then i will sell half of them, and i will keep and hodl another half, but if the project reach the hardcap, usually i will sell them right after i got the alts or tokens

Just don't be too greedy if you know that it grows too much then sell it because it will be dumped sooner or later. Many greedy persons ended with nothing.

One rule is to sell before the news comes out. It's when all the hype and the FOMO time is happening. In case you are not pretty sure which direction your coins will go, then sell them partially all the way up. Don't be too greedy because only whales know how high the price could go.

When you overcome greed and fear, you will be invincible in the crypto world, but human nature is often greedy. When a coin has risen 10 times, but they still want 100 times, everyone has this idea. if You can overcome your greed, then you can judge when it is a good time to sell.

this is easy for you to know the time to sell your altcoin because as long as you can make a profit from your altcoin, you can sell it with instant. but if you still want to hold a long time, then you can do that, but if the price is suddenly getting a dump, then you don't have to regret because you want a big profit in a long time. just know the time to sell and don't feel too greedy to expecting a big profit because it will make you stress.

If the coin is going to high in value I just sell the coins. If I am looking at a coin gaining 50% then it would be too late for me to purchase anyway.
