If you do not have experience in trading, then you do not have to enter a lot of money on the exchanger. Most likely, you will lose them. Try to trade with small amounts to gain experience

As any investment business they are risks involved, so the best figure to start with is the one that don't make you nervous and you are comfortable with losing it if things go south. If you risk money that are important to you, it's very easily to make mistake when market correction arise. So be comfortable with the numbers and do not make scary decisions.

You should start with the maximum amount of money you can afford losing, the biggest the investment the biggest the returns, however no investment or asset trading is safe so never invest what you cannot lose

Check how much you can afford to loose. I think 3000 is a good start!

There is nothing like ideal number. Whatever you have just invest. Initially invest small amount, trade and learn. So that you would get some idea about the market.

For me itbis much better for you to start in a much lower price like a $50 buy some coins in that worth because in the world or trading a lot of people lose a lot of money and that it because they are starting to trade will a lot of quantities knowing that they are just a beginner in this thing so the results are they are getting scammed  lossing money and they are blaming tradig because of that but that is how trading works you need to be tough and you need to be smart in order to have a lot of profit. It is like a survival of the smartest.

Just because I start at $ 100 when I trade and I earn $ 20 per week so I'm getting my total investment of $ 120 so I have to start trading so you have to learn first so you do not get lost when you're going to trade your money.

It depends on how much you can afford. You can start small, invest in some good coins and play with them until you get a decent profit. Then further invest your earnings to earn more profit. Just roll whatever you earned over and over and without knowing it, you’ve already earned big!

But losing is all part of trading and it's unavoidable so the least we can do is to be very cautious in every move that we do. Be knowledgeable in choosing coins to buy, don't panic and have patience to ensure that we have a sure profit.
Starting with small capital is fine but don't expect to profit big however behind it comes a lower risk.

I also agree that it is worthwhile to start invest a small amount of money because only in such way you can gain experience and reduce the risk of loss.

I started trading with $300 pretty long ago. I bought 0.6 BTC and it brought me a very small profit due to the lack of trading experience. But in two years I had around $6000 Smiley

Well if you have a lot of free time you can start with how much you can afford to loose , right ? you can transform 10$ to 100$ or to 0$ , always be ready for both effects. But if you thing that you're a good trader , then go for it mate , make money hehe and don't forget about ICO's.

If you are interest to start trading I think should start at first with a handsome balance but before start you have gathered knowledge about all altcoins and trading platform because starting trading with which pair it is important.

There is always an ideal number you need to figure out yourself.
Just like with conventional investment opportunities you should only put in as much as you can afford without getting in need of financial help.

Sorry to come in late for this discussion, but I would like to share my own personal experience, not exactly as it happened, but it is just to give a new perspective about how much money is enough. One of my lucky breaks in the world of crypto was right in the middle of March last year, when I was just having a chat with a few people in a public chatroom. We played a game, had some good discussions and then suddenly someone asked hey do you have a Doge wallet? My answer was of course, no. Anyway, never mind. Long story short, I was given away $10 worth of Dogecoin at the time, which the guy rounded to 50k Doge. It was not even as investment for me, but I kept it.

Today, this balance is now worth more than $400 dollars. It's amazing isn't it?

A bit late here, but I thought I would give my thoughts on this.

First of all you should only ever invest what you are willing to lose, in this volatile market your portfolio can go up by 50% one day and back down by same amount the next.

You have to realize that this can happen. Best is to just hold coins, and only look at your portfolio every once in a while. incremental losses way more heavily on the mind than incremental gains.

Set targets for coins, set alerts, and exit when you are comfortable with your gains.

Also to avoid losing money, don't margin trade, that can go horribly wrong.

There is no ideal number on how much you need to spend in order to start trading or holding to earn more profit. I suggest that you should invest on altcoins because it is cheaper and you can start practicing with it. Bitcoin is very expensive and i think that it will only be good for holding.
