I do not know where this information comes from, but bitcoin, in my opinion, has never set a goal to destroy governments. Even to say it is stupid. The state structure with different forms of government has existed for thousands of years and still no one has managed to live without the government. Anarchists, Bolsheviks tried to do it, but in reality one form of government changed to another, even more ugly, and governments still existed. If bitcoin had set such a task, then at the first attempt to do something about it, it would be outlawed, and the persons who use it would be criminals and quickly lose its importance and be forgotten .

I don't think so. Governments may fear Bitcoin because it's value is determined by users and not central governments or banks. Bitcoin do poses a challenge to economic machinery of the countries. Governments are cautious about its growth rate and the development of Black money with Bitcoins. But Bitcoin is still too small to make government fear about their future.

Bitcoin is not capable of doing such thing. Bitcoin gives us opportunity to become independent from banks and governments at the same time. How? We can store securely our bitcoins on our own, no need to show your real ID anywhere. Governments won't be able to monitor our transactions. That's why they don't like the idea of cryptocurrencies, they are losing control. Terrorism became a huge problem in some countries, these countries will try to destroy cryptocurrencies because in their opinion it helps terrorists.

No and that wouldn't be a good goal either , not every government is only bad.
The goal is to give people control over their own money , with no banks involved.
Paying taxes is still a very necessary thing , and i wouldn't want to see my country without a government.

Bitcoin was designed to be able to bypass a third party, which includes the government and that's a threat to the extent governments can control the finances of their people. That's however quite far from having anything to do with a goal to end governments, fiat or anything. Bitcoin seeks to innovate the financial sector and that's all.

I don't think bitcoin has that kind of agenda, goal or objectives. Not even close, it's a complete
ill fated fantasy so to speak. Bitcoins are a currency and a form of solution that tends to help and
improve systems involving money and payments. I couldn't fathom the idea of a government toppled
to ruins by bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency. Bitcoins existence maybe a threat to government
related sectors concerning fiat and currency systems but bitcoin is justifiable innovation that was
always meant to assist, improve and offer optional and reliable solutions to people, businesses,
investments and on broader scale the governments. It's greatly meant to help not to destroy.

gold is a decentralized currency, and it being that .. gold did not impact the thousands of past governments that much.
Well, no one says Bitcoin can stop the government, just because a virtual currency cannot end the governments of the world, in the future Bitcoin can be supposed to be an active currency. And there will be private banks, many of which are currently banned from Bitcoin and there is no indication that it will allow it to operate in the future.

I think bitcoin was created not to end government but to help government  in our economy. They can be business partners so in every transaction they have both shares. Bitcoin makes someones job easy because we can do it by our own.

Yes I agree on that i beleive that bitcoin is really created for the bright future and it is a big help in our economy. Because it motivates people to do good things because they may have find a reason to continue their journey because of the big opportunity that bitcoin has. Bitcoin helps the government buy giving a huge income with its different simple ways to earn.

No, definitely it isn't. What I can see from different bitcoin investors thoughts about it is we are becoming more exaggerated and overwhelmed with the great profit that is about to flow in the near future. But it's obvious that bitcoin isn't created that way. We can easily distinguish the use of a cryptoCURRENCY and it doesn't mean that it will end government just because it is decentralized. Government will not disappear and even in the future and about infrastructure, I wonder how OP came to that point of asking.

Bitcoin will certainly not end governments nor will it eliminate banks. And that wasn't the purpose when Bitcoin  was developed. On the contrary, both governments and banks will be using Bitcoin soon, because they now see the advantages of Bitcoin and Blockchain.

I have seen many people say that Bitcoin will end governments.

But do we really want that?

And if yes how would things like infrastructure be provided without a government? (This is just an example, you can discuss any issue you see fit for this topic)

i didn't know bitcoin is like communist? Smiley bitcoin is not meant to destablish governments rather offer another platform of investment and transacting.

What so you think in a country without government? I don't think you'll have investors for your ISP knowing that no one could implement the rules to protect their business.

So.. Without internet, your bitcoin is worthless. So better not hope that bitcoin would not end government.

Bitcoin is an open-source, its design is public, it is decentralized, nobody owns or controls bitcoin and everyone of us can take part on it. I dont think bitcoin will end the government. For me bitcoin was made to assist the government in terms of economy, and not to stop the government.

Is it because bitcoin boosts criminal activities in the black market, as the media said? I think this is pure nonsense. Dark network black market this year because of some media reports since it was the domestic public know, we think most of these things with a curiosity. Actually going to buy bitcoin for criminal activities is simply going away. The first thing you need to get into Dark Web requires a complex set of technical tools that make it easy to overwhelm a large number of people. Even a normal foreign website we can not visit, but also want to visit dark network? I think the percentage of people engaging in criminal activities in the purchase of bitcoin is negligible in our country.

Definitely this idea is more realistic in any way. Bitcoin might be decentralized but the government are having ways to be linked with bitcoin and that is the regulations on its transactions. Many might say that bitcoin is manipulated by some person but to think of it it only depends on how it works in the market and not by some manipulations.

Its a big NO since the government is already controlling the people and its movement by the laws. If bitcoin's purpose is to destroy the government or end it, then most probably government will shut down it immediately but its not, the bitcoin's main purpose is to be a currency where you can pay it legally on digital transactions. Not because bitcoin is decentralized it does not mean that it will influences the government.

Bitcoin is designed to improve the payment system and prevent a third party such as bank. Although Bitcoin has not fully supported by other countries due to some issues against the system but it doesn't mean to end government.

Apologies, I haven't read through the entire thread, so not sure if these have already been posted, but here is an interesting documentary on the economic philosophy of F.A.Hayek, particularly in the context of cryptocurrencies. I can't pretend to know much about it, but it sounds like those who have referenced his theories, to date, have never really tried to implement them in their truest sense.

What we're seeing now with the advent of blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies, might actually allow for a true exploration of this kind of economic policy.

Not to end governments i think, it's more fit to end government corruption.
Because they will not get any tax from us anymore, they don't know how much money we held XD

The goal of Bitcoin must be to bring greater convenience to all people. I don't think it is to end the government. This theory is not valid.

Maybe the meaning of to end the government is don't let the government have authority to bitcoin. Ending the government is a large problem itself. How to end the government if btc is accepted by some government in the world. There are countries that accepts bitcoin presence inside their country. If bitcoin's goal is to end the government it could be a problem to the entire system inside and outside computers. You are right where infrastructure budget came from if government is gone and so many more activities that came from the help of tax.

I don't think the goal of bitcoin is to end the government. It's not possible. The goal of bitcoin is to end the bank, but I think it's also very difficult to achieve, because the bank has the support of the national government, which affects the national economy.
