Under C:/Users/Lorren/AppData/Roaming/Starcoin there are two files called blk001.dat and blkindex.dat.  I renamed those files so they had a .bak extension (just in case), closed starcoin-qt, and then I replaced the two files with the dropbox files.  When I restarted starcoin-qt it was synced.
i just had to wait a few minutes and now my wallet is synced. thanks for help anyway.

STR.CripToe.Com is up and synced.

Cross your fingers folks.

Thanks Fuse! I'm in.

Looks like i'm the only miner now. Sometimes I do receive a message that the stratum isn't running correctly.

Currently I'm only mining with a low hashrate, but that's better than nothing. Goodluck with your pool.

First block found on STR.CripToe.Com.

Stratum errors in the first few minutes were me restarting stratum in order to start new stratum logs for fresh debug info if needed.

Great Fuse, thank you. Now I see more miners too. It's great that Cryptsy bought this coin back to life. Unfortunately I didn't mine a lot of coins during the time the difficulty was still low.

Join us fellow miners, at http://str.criptoe.com/!

yes but why would I mine a coin that averages at about 500 satoshi and can get about 2000 per mh at current diff. it's not even profitable now with 0.x diff how will it be profitable when the diff reaches 10-20-100 ?

nope

PLEASE REMEMBER TO SPREAD THE HASHRATE AROUND!

Especially when the difficulty and network hashrate are this low, it's important to keep the network healthy.  If you're new to the coin, or about to start mining, please find the lowest hash rate pool and go to that for a day or two, then re-evaluate your options.

Registrations are temporarily disabled for STR.CripToe.Com due to the overwhelming hashrate on the pool.

This really is amazing.  This coin has (as has been mentioned earlier in this topic) been delisted and relisted on Cryptsy more than any other coin.  The wallet still has problems (pool operators would do well to search this topic regarding the broken PoS minting and how to get around that bug) and has no active developer.  But enough people (read: the ones who have been solo mining during the de-listing and accumulated a big stash) lobbied Cryptsy to re-add it, and now there's a brand new StarCoin Frenzy!  Pools popping up left and right and brand new fresh-faced miners ready to go after the next big coin. Wink

Except this is an old coin, with old problems and no one to fix them.

What we really need is a developer.  Fix the proof of stake minting and the performance issues.  Then maybe we'll have a coin that will stay around a while.

Cryptsy:  All new look - USD Trading coming soon!

New pool up and running!

http://str.scryptminers.net

  • 0% fees!
  • PPS
  • Dual Xeon server with SSD raid and tons of ram
  • Wallet fully synced and ready to go!!
  • Support via irc on freenode.net, channel #scryptminers
We currently have 40MH on the pool, and everything is running smoothly.  We're currently finding blocks at 92% efficiency.  This is a VERY beefy server and can handle hundreds of concurrent miners.
