@ Sirnubbles, could you be a bit more precise about how to get the POS working again. Where do I have to fill in
Don't worry about the PoS checkpoints, that's just for whenever people get the source code together for an update. You'll see a 'Checkpoints too old' warning with wallet for now but it doesn't harm anything Cheers Ah allright. Yes I do. It didn't synched earlier, but yesterday (or the day before) it suddently start synching . Is the PoS system still working now?

Haven't kept any coins in one place for long enough to notice

Well, the interesting news is that simply adding the lines to the sources, recompiling, wiping the blockchain, etc etc .. Doesn't work. So there must be another trick to it .. I suspected there might be, but I don't know enough about it to guess. Will do some more debugging .. the code itself seems simple enough .. but if there is supposed to be a node in the network that does something special, and its down or not functioning correctly .. I cannot compensate for this.

Incidentally, if you want somewhere to hang out and talk crypto, or want to rally the cause for Starcoin, I'm holding the #starcoin channel open on irc.freenode.net if you want to drop by I think there used to be an IRC room on another network, but last I heard that network was barring use by cryptocoins .. so far no problems on Freenode . See ya there!

Found out the same on my end also. It's definitely a learning experience. I looked at a number of other coins source code for clues and one thing is pretty clear, this one is really out of date. As long as Cryptsy is trading them and people are buying them all up I'll keep my pool going.

Networks only averaging around 30MH/s, difficulty only 0.2, easy money guys. Check out all the buy orders on Crypsty. Keeping my personal pool open to all while starcoin revival is in the works. Zero fees, donations appreciated. Don't forget this coin has bonus blocks, hitting several a day increasing income that much more http://starcoin.mining.sexy

hey folks - really need some help.
I'm running on windows 8 - I installed wallet and it's been synching for nearly two days now.
was down to about 135,000 remain blocks - then jumped back up to 320,000 blocks
can someone tell me what going wrong?
is the block chain screwed up on this coin?
thanks - really want to solo mine this coin but can't even get started.

I don't think it's forked ("screwed up"). Do you have the correct addnodes in your config? You should leave it open for a few hours. Maybe it will start synching completely then.

I reinstalled the wallet and it started at about 786,000 and now it's down to 680,000 I wish there were somewhere you could just download a constantly updated file to save everyone from having to go through this - you know? then when they installed the wallet - they'd be up to date this is what I have : addnode=198.58.99.249 addnode=198.58.115.87 addnode=84.45.63.215 addnode=107.170.67.240 addnode=188.226.176.232 addnode=85.25.194.238 addnode=192.81.135.88 addnode=192.241.160.190 addnode=54.186.69.238

The fact StarCoin isn't really popular anymore, or not as popular as it was before, makes this harder I think. I can't check my config file now, as I'm not home. I will later on, please contact me for a reminder!

Yes, you can. I did it before. Please check this post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=259012.msg4049197;topicseen#msg4049197The user "Contestest" explains how to do it easily. It worked for me .

that really did not do anything for me - I was wondering if I could avoid 'downloading' the entire block chain and merely download a file that already has the blockchain in it?

Theoretically, you can download a 'bootstrap' file which will get you started, but generally this is frowned upon because you are trusting a single authority on the integrity of that file, whereas the network is, by design, trusted to itself. It's something I'd quite like to do for StarCoin, but the method for doing it seems a little vague. What I can say, is that only this week I have done a complete blockchain sync for StarCoin over a 20Mbit connection in about a day .. obviously not watching it download, that gets tiresome very quickly - but it does sync up correctly. You will see the message 'Checkpoint is old' - this is ok, but there are steps in process to rectify this, and get a new wallet published. As always, patience is key I also tried solo mining against the above wallet successfully, and have mined a small quantity of coins this way. Setup is a bit complicated, but there are guides online if you search. Alternatively there is a good stable pool running at starcoin.mining.sexy which you can use.
