STAR COIN [STR] - The coin with bonus STAR blocks

Please note, I am not going to be a developer of this coin, I just released a fix that may allow the StarCoin to survive.

Then why do it. Or coin will have normal design and own team or do not need it and must die. Let worried those who are bought tens of thousands of these coins.
They can’t sit back and wait for something indefinite

The community should decide to support the coin further or not by running wallet or not running. The holders could hire someone for part of their stakes, for example, if they do care. The coin has no team for almost 6 months already: the last update to the coin had been published on Jan 7 and it was a checkpoints update. At that time the PoS was already broken: the last PoS block submitted to the net on Sat Dec 14 12:49:20 UTC 2013. It had been delisted from cryptsy and then listed again in Feb. So, there is still quite a number of people who likes it for some reason.

Juts tell me please, if Gavin and company announce today that they quit the project, would Bitcoin die? Why do you think that the existence of a dedicated dev team is a must? I agree that it is nice, when the dev team exists. But still, this coin survived during 6 months without any developer support!

Survived? Total price dangling below the plinth. I think someone decided to buy more coins for pennies in the hope then sell expensive. Developers should take care of the coin, have your own website and be investors. Without such an approach - success will not. I like starcoin beautiful name. It would be unfortunate if it dies.

Because I am already involved into another project. Btw, I have already been PM'ed by one, who want to maintain the coding part of the starcoin (or even more, (s)he did not say) and actually was in attempt to fix the problem when I posted my fix. (S)he accepted it. I hope, (s)he will come up soon.

Generally speaking - no, you shouldn't, as the fork is at block 777856. It might be that all nodes your node is connected are running the old wallet.

I shall be compiling bee7's source later on today, and hopefully will have another node running soon after. I will ensure sirnubbles gets his pool updated too (starcoin.mining.sexy), and we have been talking about getting the checkpoint node set up again .. this will probably roll into v1.7.1 or v1.8.

Seems when mining on the new source from our pool all we find are Proof of Stake blocks and no Proof of Work?  did you convert it to 100% PoS or is PoW still available?  Is it playing catch up from the PoS gap since January?  Should these be PoW and being detected incorrectly?

I suppose the "sReT5iKfCdAsgF32XtGGtz1V1xHGU4ZsDq" is the address in your wallet that was used for PoW mining.

So, we got a confirmation that the PoS is working. All your inputs that stayed long in a wallet are eligible for PoS, so they do their job! This is good.

We had 5MH on it for over an hour and we found a ton of these PoS blocks but no PoW.  All with an amount of 100.  This is through my MPOS pool.

I suppose the "sReT5iKfCdAsgF32XtGGtz1V1xHGU4ZsDq" is the address in your wallet that was used for PoW mining.

So, we got a confirmation that the PoS is working. All your inputs that stayed long in a wallet are eligible for PoS, so they do their job! This is good.

You could check the wallet's debug.log to find messages like "CPUMiner : proof-of-stake block found <hash>"

Do you really put some hashing power on? I have only 4 290x and it finds blocks quite regularly.

We had 5MH on it for over an hour and we found a ton of these PoS blocks but no PoW.  All with an amount of 100.  This is through my MPOS pool.

Try the fix I just committed please, I think it makes sense.

Don't appear to be finding anything now and we have 10 MH on it for 15 minutes.  

Look like it may be an MPOS thing that i may have to work through.  Stratum miner seems to be reporting fine.  May look at bringing up a fresh instance of MPOS tonight with a new database and start from scratch with the new source.  Will keep you all posted.

To all miners mining on the pool, going to shutdown the stratum again until i figure things out so that you don't waste your has here.
