When setting up new clients I'm still getting issues connecting to nodes and keeping a stable connection to download the blockchain.

EDIT: Got it after adding over 25 nodes to my conf. I don't think this is healthy for the coin. My QT client still connects to a single connection for a split second then hops off.

Need help!  I'm running it linux headless.  The thing runs... I guess... It doesn't show in the processes at all.  But, I can give quarkcoind commands.  I've got over a dozen peers.  Plus, the hashespersec doesn't work, so how am I to tell that the thing is mining and get an idea about speed?

This only happens to me on my Windows machines with OP's build. I compiled qt on an Ubuntu 12.10 box with upnp enabled and I was able to connect, and download the blockchain almost immediately. However, I did add several nodes to the .conf, and I only have a few machines running linux, so I don't know if I was just lucky. I had trouble getting the client to work on a few machines with OP's build.

hashespersec doesn't work yet. Is your CPU at around 100%? If you have genproclimit=-1 set, quarkcoind should be using about 100% of your CPU.

hashespersec doesn't work yet. Is your CPU at around 100%? If you have genproclimit=-1 set, quarkcoind should be using about 100% of your CPU.

It won't show in the processes using the PS command, which is usually what I use to get PIDs for kill commands.  But I found it does show by using the TOP command and says 800% for 8 CPUs.  Thanks!  If I've got the time I'll look at the source for getting the hashespersec working.

I would say it's under priced.  It should be priced 0.00006 to 0.00008 IMO

It is underpriced in that it generally costs more to make QRK than it sells for, but I think it's a PnD that's already on it's death throes due to lack of support from merchants or any use.

How much does it cost a botnet to produce 1 QRK?  Remember stolen computing power and stolen electricity = 0.0000.  CPU coin = botnet coin.  Whatever you can produce with a single CPU the average botnet can produce 10,000x as much at near 0 cost.  It never had a future.

Agreed GPU raises the barrier slightly and botnet herders tend to go for the low hanging fruit.  The issue of GPU botnets will only get worse in the future.  Most low end systems now come with relatively (at least compared to prior northbridge based integrated video) powerful "on die" GPUs (GPU is part of CPU).  Both Intel and AMD latests on die GPU are OpenCL capable.  The threat isn't so much a botnet acquiring hundreds of high end systems as zombies but a botnet acquiring tens of thousands of openCL capable "on die" GPU based systems.


While relatively low powered (50 KH/s compared to a high end GPU being 400 KH/s or more) a botnet will make up for it with thousands or tens of thousands of units.  It will take some time but it is inevitable.

if i read the numbers right this coin is a pre-mine. in the first 15 weeks greater than 90% of the the coins that will be generated in the next 10 years, will have been mined.

Am I doing this wrong or does importing keys not work for Quarkcoin?  I did getaddressesbyaccount <account>, then dumpprivkey <address>, and on the other machine importprivkey <privkey>.  The account came in, but not the Quarkcoin that the account had.
