Saw this in another thread and it's very eye-opening:

http://bitinfocharts.com/top-100-richest-quarkcoin-addresses.html

Notice how fewer than 300 people control a whopping 76% of all Quarks in existence.

That is insane.

Where's this massive decentralization we were promised?

Well you can't do anything about someone buying $2m worth of Quark, which shows how popular Quark has actually become.

It's like someone buying $100m worth of LTC. You cannot forbid them. It's a free market.

And you know for a fact that someone bought $2m worth of quark?

Maybe already asked or dumb question, but if there are already 247M of coins mined, what we are mining now is the yearly inflation?

* Total of 247 million QRK will be mined in ~ 6 months, after that ~ 1 million QRK p.a. (~ 0.5% p.a inflation)

Current block value is 4 QRK

There are more than 247 million  coins to be mined , it's 247 4xx xxx or something if i remember correctly not 247 000 000. Then inflation kicks in.

247,278,877 QRK out there according to http://coinmarketcap.com/, that means in just some weeks the block reward gonna be probably 1QRK, right?

James is it also possible to speak the audio in Russian? I have something in mind to share the Russian spoken animated video along with other links to BTC-e. I believe the voice over person could also speak Russian?

No funds are provided, but...

If you translate the site into Polish and Polish people that don't speek english see the website, and then invest into Quark.
That will mean that your current investment wil raise in value.

I'm planning to upload the video to onto youtube, I don't know if youtube allow mutiple audio sources.

If not, then i can create the following solution:
- if receive your Russian audio voice, i then can upload a Russian version onto youtube and show that video only on the Russian translated version of the website.

If you don't follow it, small summarize: it is possible! After the video has been uploaded send me the audio voice.

I can't speak Russian myself, but thought the one that is doing the voice over maybe also could do it in Russian. No problem m8, i will do it with the original video, cheers

But that's how it is in the real world as well. 10% owns 90%.
You're right. But the whole point of this coin was to balance that out.

It was getting well distributed until the dipshits started selling once the price lowering game was afoot.  Now the big hands that have been pushing the price lower are buying it up and getting an increasing amount of the pie.  moral of the story...don't be a dipshit.

Look Litecoin at the same link:
2230 accounts -> 19M Litecoin
2230 accounts (no people)  control 77% Market

but Quark only have 6 months and 2 months with real trade and exchanges,
Litecoin at least 2 years

2230 accounts for a three year old currency is a hell of a lot less dangerous than 300 for a 6 month old currency.

Quark  99% mined , Litecoin  30%.
So the top100 control 62.22% of all quarks coins , and in litecoin the top 100 control 45.76% of 30% that have been mined . that is 15% of the total numbers.

^^What he said.

So the coin is dying?

I'm not saying it's dying or it isn't, or really making any comment other than providing some facts for people to look at and do with what they will.

Is Quark the only coin with this kind of uneven distribution? Not at all. But it IS the only one that is essentially 100% mined at this point, which means its distribution is more set. It is what it is.

I just personally found the numbers shocking and thought the community should see it so they have all of the facts.

These comments about who owns Quark miss the point. Anybody can own a huge amount of Quark. Just buy it off an exchange!
Who owns Quark is not set!
If you want to own a huge percentage I'm sure you can buy it at the right price.
If you want everybody to own some Quark, buy a ton and donate it to a faucet or sponsor a give away!!

I'm watching it closely. It's the first big coin to have essentially finished the initial mining period. I'm surprised that the hashrate hasn't dropped significantly since passing 247mil coins, but it hasn't. Still hovering around 2GH/s. So far the botnets haven't seemed to exit.

I keep hearing "Quark is dead" yet somehow it's still always in the Top 10 traded pairs on Cryptsy:

Should be interesting to see...

This is QRK's strong point ... with initial mining over, no more mine & dump as you have with most coins.  The shift is moving out of miners hands and into investors.  Also no more capital dilution, except the .5% which is minimal.  People buying Quark now are looking to invest, hopefully for the long-term...

Yes, this will be interesting to see how this plays out, although there are no guarantees I like the odds of Quark
