Depression is a disease that can be cured only with the help of drugs

I don't think so. I have seen many of my friends suffering from depression, and drugs didn't helped them in the long term. One of my friends was taking a drug called Nexito 10mg. At first, I could notice a considerable change in his behavior. But after a few months, everything went back to the old state.

Always seek the good out of every situation and this at times may require some real action on our parts. Analyze the problems, ask why it may be happening, what you may have done to provoke or not prevent it from occurring, your options of being able to fix it and who you may have to turn to for help.

To overcome depression that I think is by way of looking for a holiday like a road to the mall, kepantai, Karokean etc.,

Depression drains your energy, hope and drive, making it difficult to take the steps that will help you feel better. Dealing with depression requires action, but taking action when you're depressed can be hard. Look for support from people who make you feel safe and cared for. The person you talk to doesn't have to be able to fix you; they just need to be a good listener - someone who'll listen attentively and compassionately without being distracted or judging you. Try to keep up with social  activities even if you don't feel like it. Being around other people will make you feel less depressed. Push yourself to do things even if you don't feel like it. You'll gradually feel more upbeat and energetic as you make time for fun activities. Go out with friends. Challenge negative thinking. Identify the type of negative thoughts that are fueling your depression and replace them with a more balanced way of thinking. As you cross-examine your negative thoughts, you may be surprised at how quickly they crumble. In the process, you'll develop a more balanced perspective and help to relieve your depression.

My medicine is Meditation. Vipassana meditation which is a Buddhist Insight mediation and practise will train you to observe yourself from a distance. We are not our thoughts. But we are so caught up in our minds that we believe the story the mind is telling us. Instead of being a servant, it took control of the house. In every country there are 10 day free (by donation) Vipassana courses. Mind you, it will be very confronting for your friend. Because at some point she will realize that it her own mind 'creating' the depression. If she can accept this and finish the course without leaving in the middle. She's 3/4 on the way out. Problem with depression is: the mind is creating it and wants to sustain it. Will take some strong determination, but there is always a way out. Been there Wink.

I think, this is a very sensitive topic.. Depression is a serious mental state of ones person, because this might lead to suicide. If you believe that your friend is experiencing depression, then you must be there for her/him. Explore her feelings about it. Let her express her feelings , take time to listen. If you feel that she has a suicidal thoughts, then you should accompany her to a health care provider for them to assist her.

And also can't a person overcome depression on his/her own?


There are ways to overcome depression. Sometimes, having it is just the result of what we are thinking. Try to avoid over thingking and negative thoughts. It won't help you grow as a person. Keep yourself busy and focus on things where you have the potential to excel. Think of positive things that would make you a better person.

To overcome depression we need be with our family and friend. We need the love that they us. And be happy always and stay busy. So that you can forget the things that makes you depress.

Firstly to overcome a depression you need to find out the root of the cause for depression. Like money, relationship or family problem
After that try to solve the problem one by one 
Secondly engage in the activities/ hobbies or something that can make you happy and forget the worries.
I think those suffer from depression need assurance from people around them and someone to talk to when they are free so will not have the free time to think about unhappy things.
Depression cant be overcome by yourself but it is not easy if your mindset keep drifting to the negative side it will only contribute to more and more depression... Most important thing is your mindset only if you help yourself out of the depression then people will be able to help you.

Depression affects your feelings.You should go to the doctor, In order for your doctor to consider what therapy is right for you.which can help you cope with depression is by, Do not be alone, exercise regularly, healthy food

To overcome depression is not easy problem you must be open, all your problem to your trusted friends, parents and or psychiatries in order to give you an advice of what to do in your problem, so that your life will not be wasted.
