Everything that surrounds this market is mere speculation, so it is difficult to find a definitive justification for this fall.but since the bitcoin became the property of great whales, they can play with the price of bitcoin in the way that best suits them to keep the money from us small fish.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

As you see the decreasing price of bitcoin and other altcoins just two weeks ago when bitcoin's price sat at around $6000 per coin, the market now is seeing a relatively upward way. But this price is low as compared to the price of bitcoin that sat at around $20000 per coin. So given the volatile nature of the market, their price will increase and decrease. But regulators' attempt to bring the market to a regulatory system and attempts by some countries to impose an outright ban on it are major contributing factors to its downward spiral.

I think all the price dropped because so many countries banned this crypto, like china, india, and other countries. There is a pump and dump in this market, it's normal. It depend on demand.

There is no logical reason for the price dumps in the crypto world. Although there were positive news in last week, the price fell continuously. It seems like the market is manipulated by some big players.

Cryptocurrency is most volatile price instead, they're looking forward for more stable service on their own platform. And actually very sensitive with news and legacy from some country. Some project of ICO's bring a lot of impact with a volume of fiat currency transcations, mostly up and down recently. Anyway cryptocurrency market still be fine for future, more interests from billionare to take a part in some project for earning money.

Almost all the altcoins (and bitcoin too) went down alot yesterday. Does anybody have a clue what caused this major drop?
In actual up and down in the market of the cryptocurrency is a normal thing and we should not take it much panic like things because this is a necessary part of this field , if we will only see pump then there will exist lots of chances of dump badly but if we will have the market with small dump and small up then we will find it as a opportunity to make buy at small dump and make sell at small pump , so a type of cycles works here .
And currently the market is at dump of about 6-7% only and I think it is near to start to get up because total market of the bitcoin as an example is about to gain total dump near to 80% and surely after the gain of 100% usual dump of week it will start to get increase .
So don't get panic and enjoy these fluctuations in cryptourrency market .

Altcoin prices follow BTC very closely, when BTC reached exorbitantly high price recently most players, big players included want to take profit and close book for year. Together with some negative news the drop of price accelerated even more. Regulatory Authorities actions or comments also cause negative movement of the price. Due to lack of liquidity in crypto exchanges, its easy for big players to collude , and they don't need reason to move their fund out to move the market down .

This thread started in December 2017. I have to admire the vision of the OP.

The thread was started in December, but price drops are happening every month so we have great choice of themes to conversate Grin
For example, the drop that was last two days - what did cause this? I saw some information that one of the MTGox founders sells bitcoins and bitcoin cash to give back money to their clients. But I didnt see any proof. So maybe this is another fake news, someone is trying to buy the dip before great bull run, what do you think?

The reason why bitcoin and altcoins drops it's because the price are very expensive so the buyer will regret because they could not gain if they purchase altcoins they get loss and of course the investor also regret thats why altcoins and bitcoins were drops.

According to CCN, Binance suffered a number of attacks, with attackers wanting to control VIA coin transactions.

Coin prices fell, and again fell. The main reason for the sell-off of virtual currency is the fear of investors about the possibility that many countries will tighten the activities related to virtual currency.

In my opinion, it is because of the holiday season that affects the most of the market prices of the altcoins. During these period most people tend to undergo shopping spree and more investments and tokens are traded and sold , thus increasing their volume in the market.

In my opinion, coin prices continue to fall sharply because of interventions from governments. In Korea, authorities are still considering possible closure of virtual currency trading floors. Despite the closure of the virtual currency floor last year, China still has more aggressive measures against the virtual currency industry.

It is a market and it works by the law of demand and supply. It means that many holders sold yesterday. Why? Nobody know exactly and we can only guess why. Anybody can compose a lot of reasons why it has happened but it does not mean that it is truth.

The introduction of restrictions on crypto activity by many governments does not add confidence to large investors that their investments will be safe. In addition, if there is no positive background, then there is no rise in the market.
