Why would I want to keep BTC in my investment portfolio? That's most hyped and quite overvalued coin I'd say.
There are other more technologically advanced coins. Is it because of "digital gold" and store of value properties?

If you don't want to keep it or invest in it then don't keep or invest in it. You could ask the same of any other digital coins or stocks and shares etc. Why would you want to hold facebook/microsoft/amazon stock or platinum/gold/silver etc. I personally hold bitcoins because I believe in them and I think there's still massive potential for growth. I think there's much more money to be made by holding bitcoin than there is in all the stocks and precious metals I listed above and I haven't been proven wrong yet. Is there more money to be made in other digital coins? Possibly. Do I own any other coins? Yes, but I'm not so certain that any of them will be worth any where near what bitcoin currently is (though they also still have huge potential for growth) but I still favor bitcoin to come out on top, but if I'm wrong I'll still personally come out on top also lol (unless I picked the wrong coins  Grin).

Lot of reasons:
1. Its the one you need to get any of those other "technologically advanced" coins.

2. All of those "technological advancements"are more or less unproven, unimplemented and untested at the levels that BTC has seen. Both in terms of the transactions as well as the associated hardware. The only serious implementation that has seen that scale yet is ETH. Till then, all this talk about DAG, Tangles, Block-Lattices etc etc should not be taken at face value. If nothing else, you need to hold BTC as the hedge because its the only proven and widely used implementation.

3. Bitcoin has the most active developer community. And i guess they are quite a positive when you need "Technological advancements".

4. The "Digital gold", "commodity"and such definitions are media driven. Nobody really knows whats its going to become. Don't you want to stick around to know?

5. Lastly, you can always hold BTC along with ïnvesting in the technologically advanced coins.

Uh..you just said the reason to keep the coin, its overvalued. Yes, its the first crypto so obviously never cryptos with better technology have come but we all know BTC is still ruling the market. It would be stupid to not have bitcoin but all other coins, the smartest move is to have other coins along with BTC.

Some alts follow different approaches or different use cases, neither which necessarily make them more technologically advanced.

Most alts are nothing more than marketing talk

Every alt has its downsides, no alt has solved the issue of decentralized scalability and no alt has the amount of development experience and community support behind it than BTC. The latter of which makes BTC most likely to survive during hard times.

It's because I am still hoping and believing that bitcoin price is gonna increase no matter what it's just there are two holiday seasons we are celebrating right now which is Christmas and New Year which is why the demand for bitcoin is currently low in which it results to price decrease of Bitcoin in the market.

Well holding is not really greedy type of strategy people really need to hold if thwy see the price is not really much more fluent .I believe no one should really want to loose thier money on making a qrong decision that is why people now a days here in cryptofield really getting more motivated on doing decisions becaus we all know that one wrong on this field may lead us to get nothing.

What do you try to say? Is it bitcoin overvalued?
I am really thinking it does not overvalued. It is beginning and many people predict that bitcoin will have so much marketcap in 2018 and it can make the value grow more amd more.

I hold BTC because it is father of all digital currencies. The more father's price, the more value have all other altcoins. There are too many scams in ICO field, only top-10 currencies are less volatile than all market coins.

It is THE main and original coin, which is mainly known and discussed by the population, institutions and media. Satoshi Nakamoto's BTC blockchain technology is the revolutionary idea, which all other coins are based on. Of course, there are many coins, that have evolved and have a different purpose for everyone and there is a important place for them, too. Howevever, they are currently all dependent on the success of BTC. If BTC falls, every other coin suffers, too.

It is very logical that altcoins price depends on Bitcoin. But bitcoin network has too many problems.  What about spam attack or BTC transaction fees? I love BTC very much, but now coin is too expencive and hyped...

Can you tell us what are those other technologically advanced coins?
No one forced you to hold Bitcoin you can sell and invest in other coins but that will not change the fact that Bitcoin is the most trusted and used coin.
Is there any other coin that can you make 18x profit in less than a year?

I'm holding 50-40% of my portfolio in BTC. Other 30% in Altcoins and other part - in fiat money. I find that strategy balanced. You should keep some BTC in your wallet , mate! Soon you will understand why. Everything is based on BTC in Crypto world.

Because it is obvious that everybody wants to invest in bitcoin, and you are right in saying that it is very over hyped, you are not the only one who is saying that.

And i am almost thinking the same as you, do you really think that paying more than 30 for a single fee is worth it?

I dont know, but there are better alternatives, just like digibyte, dogecoin, and so many others, only that yes, bitcoin is bitcoin...

Such a topic is discussed by John McAffe himself, I gave him such an answer:
@officialmcafee fully agrees with you, @Bitcoin will always be the brightest star on the #CryptoMarket, he is like the sun that is closer and brighter than all the stars for humanity. PS: It's from me. The more the #crypto market grows, the higher the value of the very first.

It is the only asset that grows in value even when its been just kept hold on the wallet. Maybe you find large scale fluctuations quite often, but it is simply the best investment than using third party investment services and banking networks where the profits earned as roi is very small.

You are not required to do so. To make it clear, investing to Bitcoin is a choice. It may be overhyped but surely it is really profitable. If you find other currencies more "advantageous" than Bitcoin, you are free on not to invest in Bitcoin. But I tell you thie, Bitcoin is th most profitable crypto investment ewpciaply for the long run.

I simply don't believe that Bitcoin was able to sustain its uptrend based on its 'demand' alone. Hype was the biggest factor there and with people slowly realizing how their time is wasted in waiting for 'days' to just get their transactions through even when paying more than $10 for each, Bitcoin's value will be realized.
