Site was down when i went to whitelist due to (apparent) hacking attempt where they offered 10 free coin to the first 20 ppl in chat who spammed some phrase, then said it was unfair and they'll give MAN to some ppl who signed up for a google doc list. (waiting to see how true this is)

There were many users from all over the world waiting for the presale that was pushed back by 24hrs in lieu of most of them staying up way past their local bedtimes. Next day rolls around and it's time to make the purchase and they (apparently) reached their hard cap in minutes. Many members have checked the etherscans and noticed whales buying stock before the sale launched.

Honestly I heard about this on a whim, their site wasn't professional at all, their whitepaper was severely lacking and their support in the telegram abysmal. Left such a bad taste in my mouth I just had to drop this here to let others know to be aware.

Yangdong (Steve) Deng received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA, in 2006. He received his ME and BE degrees in Electronic Department from Tsinghua University, Beijing, in 1998 and 1995, respectively.

His Ph.D. research focuses on a new 3-dimensional (3-D) VLSI integration scheme. Due to its die-to-die stacking architecture enhanced by an incremental testing methodology, the proposed 3-D integration scheme could significantly improve the fabrication yield. He developed the first generation 3-D VLSI layout design tools. He also evaluated the performance gain of implementing several real world designs including a microprocessor into 3-D integration. His work was introduced in a special topic session on International Solid State Circuit Conference, 2005.

During his Ph.D. research, he also developed an efficient algorithm to optimize the interconnection network for System-on-Chips. The work opened up a new research direction to optimize system interconnection by taking into account the predicted layout information.

He joined Incentia design Systems in 2004 as a senior software engineer (before finishing his Ph.D. dissertation). From 2006 to Feb. 2008, he was with Magma Design Automation as a software architect. In both companies, he had been developing leading edge physical design tools. He was one of the main developers of Magma’s new Talus million-gate IC design toolkit. He received an award from Magma Design Automation for his contribution to the NEC project.

Since Mar. 2008, he has been with Institute of Microelectronics, Tsinghua University as an associate professor. Recently we were invited to The Pathology Quality Control Evaluation Center to visit the remote disease diagnosis and quality control platform, as well as the Center for Disease Diagnosis, to carry out technical exchanges and discuss cooperation.

The Pathology Quality Control Evaluation Center is a digital remote diagnosis and quality control platform for digital pathology established by the National Health and Welfare Commission of the People’s Government of the People’s Republic of China. The Center integrates various resources and the use of modern network technologies and digital slice image processing systems to achieve remote diagnosis goals.

The Center informed us that the current medical and disease research is developing rapidly, and that although pathologists are experienced, it is difficult to diagnose the diseases encountered in a short period of time. It is hoped that the introduction of new technologies will provide more space for quick and accurate pathological diagnoses.
Clinical diagnoses are made according to identifying common signs and patterns based on past information and images based on accumulated experience. AI ​​can copy the whole process and learn quickly and more efficiently, whilst being able to recall the information more readily when it’s needed.

 Through deep learning technology, AI can continue to learn X-rays, medical books, essays, electronic medical records, and things like the formation of tumor tissue and normal histopathology; anything which is already available in huge databases. When a digital pathological section needs to be diagnosed, the most similar sections are quickly retrieved from the database by image recognition technology and diagnosed to help the doctor formulate a treatment plan.

AI-assisted disease diagnosis and treatment is an inevitable future trend of medical development. It is the perfect combination of pathological image recognition technology and machine learning methods, and the deep learning facilities provided by the our bayesian Proof of Work algorithm is a perfect training ground. Not only will it help with Pathologists’ day-to-day work which requires high degrees of concentration and an extremely wide knowledge base, it also facilitates a greatly increased accuracy and efficiency of pathological diagnosis.

The diagnosis and treatment solution we are currently building is one to aid in the diagnosis of thyroid cancer and liver cancer. We are working with Beijing Cancer Hospital, the 302 Hospital and a number of other first-line hospitals in the China to realize this goal — our solution will be in place in each of these hospitals when it’s ready.

Nice to know you're so familiar with our proposal. In our blockchain, a user defines their intention with a natural language, but the respective smart contract is still a program in a programming language. We provide tools for the conversion from an intention to a program.
The general problem of generating programs from natural language is certainly a hard one. Microsoft's deepcoder project illustrates the possibility to generate program from an algorithmic description with deep learning techniques, but it's still far from mature. On the other hand, programs for smart contracts are much more restricted in terms of underlying programming patterns. Our analysis on existing Ethereum code reveals that these programs can be covered by ~60 programming patterns. Therefore, our idea is actually simple:
A user defines their contract intention with a natural language (currently English and Chinese) in either spoken or written form.
A deep learning based procedure extracts the underlying patterns of transaction.
A library (which is constructed in advance) based procedure is used to generate the program by composing code for each pattern from snippets in the library
So you are correct. A user says something like "Send X MAN to Y address on condition Z", which is the simplest pattern, is one of them. It is then straightforward to generate the code for such a behavior.

Q 1 - A while ago we promiss the community that team will give weekly updates.

Can you also write some short article for this week please ? Maybe something interesting about machine learning ?

A 1 - Deng: Upon your earlier request for weekly updata, Owen and I decided to prepare a short report every two weeks. My update will be included. Please ask Owen for the report.

Really too busy to write short articles, but I do have a tutorial PPT that can be shared. Please check out the attachment.

Q 2 - This tutorial Ppt is a summary of all matrix plan to do ? Or its a summary of all we already realised ?

How far we are now with the building of ai computing cloud platform?

A 2 - Deng: The tutorial is a summary of the overall landscape. Some of them has been realized, while most of it (but probably not all) is our future plan.

We are planning to build the ai computing cloud platform for automatic model search in the first half of 2021 (but this is tentative schedule).

Q 3 - Matrix will be the first project who will have the ai computing platform? Once platform is ready , matrix will generate an income by selling services to companies and instututions ?

I know there are a lot of ai projects in crypto.. Can we see matrix as the most progressed and advanced project ?

Do we have serious competitors in crypto?

A 3 - Deng: To the best of my knowledge, we will be the first to do autoML on blockchain based cloud. Certainly we want to make it a paid service.

I would say matrix is one of the most advanced as different projects have varying objectives.
Our focus is the sharing of computing resources for useful computing.

I don't know serious competitors from this perspective.

Q 1 : How  are you going to compensate the departure of Bill Li?
Is he, as a network mastermind, not irreplaceable for the project? or did he leave his work completed before leaving?

A 1: Deng : I don't think he is irreplaceable and he did have most of his work (the blockchain infrastructure) completed. The job in the next stage requres new knowledge base.

Q 2 : With a small team like now and with an unsure financial situation, how do you try to gain confidence in the victory of this project?

A 2: Deng: We already have the infrastructure. Now what we need to do is to have novel solutions and working business patterns.
A small team will suffice at this stage.

Q 3: Why you dont use offen the social media for promote the matrix project ? And win the trust of the community back?

A 3: Deng: I don't like spending time on social media. We can do more useful things to re-gain the trust. Now we have a couple of ongoing projects that can be announced very soon.

A : Deng :

The wallet is exclusively for Matrix. It's offers a finger-vein based certification mechanism for software wallet.

It allows safe and handly access to wallet apps on cell phones.

The finger-vein based certification is supposed to be safer by performing living body detection and personal identification in one step.

Q: And in youre last emails you told me that you are still working on new projects, applications? 
Can you give some examples please ?

A: One new project, which you already know, is the finger-vein based authentification for wallet.
It is planned to finsih in the end the Feburary.

I'm working on another one, which is still in the research stage, is to build a tool-chain to support the automatic creating of embedded AI hardware, i.e., automatical search of AI models + automatic synthesis of AI hardware.

Q: Youre finger vein based authentification for wallet is already used by iphone, samsung mobile phones ?
Or what you are trying to do is something different?
Most mobile phones using actually a finger vein based authentification.

A: No, most cell phones use finger PRINT authentification.

It's different from finger VEIN authentification, which has not been used for any smart phones yet.

The finger PRINT authentification is more error prone, has a higher duplication ratio, and cannot support liveness detection (you can cut a finger and cheat the authentification).

It needs an external hardware gadget and those used for applications with higher security requirements..

A: We are trying our best on huobi swap work, but due to the chaotic management process in huobi and some other uncontrollable factors, I cant give you a guaranteed schedule.

But you will be informed as soon as there is any news we get.

Q: When apocs will start working again?

A: About the apocs, we are talking with the miner company and ask them to move the miners to a new and better miner factory, they are doing the preparing work, I wish it can be done in two or three weeks.

Q: Community wants to know how you see the future of Matrix? We are working hard as community and wait the same from the matrix team.
