if it is a really good ico and the hardcap is almost reached you can invest. if the hardcap is not reached then the token costs 90% less later than in ico and you should rather not invest. then buy later at an exchange like idex or many other exchanges. here you can see how many bad icos there are https://coinmarketcap.com/new/

What I have seen, high quality project you can get cheaper at ICO, because the price will go up when listed. Of course, timing affects, where the market is heading - now, when markets are down, it is likely that any project will benefit, when they go up, if listing is later, if market is higher at that point. But quality really matters... Low quality projects will go down later on regardless...

Seek for the hidden gems with a lot of study, analysis and thorough assessment of projects. You just need to do your research carefully and don't trust ICO listing sites etc. because ratings can be bought. Careful research is very important to avoid scams and other low quality projects - don't trust anyone but your own research!

I have been recently following Stellar that is generally on the rise and the tokens issued on the Stellar platform - now there is a bump like in any cryptocurrency over the past few days, but generally Stellar is on the rise because of the prospective Coinbase listing and other advances. This will also boost tokens issued on the Stellar platform...

My most recent find among alts is AXU, "Argentas Exchange Unit" token issued on the Stellar platform and listed and verified on the Stellarport decentralized exchange, now only at its pre-distribution, or pre-ICO phase. A true hidden diamond, with low profile so far. Experienced people clearly, and cool tech for decentralizing and revolutionizing global banking - their website at argentas.io.

The pre-ICO price is 50% cheaper than the ICO price, a sure winner IMO, and I will certainly get some. They also have an ANN thread, I think here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4431900.0. I dug really deep in their content, and it is really cool stuff Grin But don’t forget your own research!

How often does the price get lower than the ICO price when a new coin is listed on its first exchange house ?

How come there are coins that are worth like 0.0004 $, usually during an ICO one coin is sold in the range of 1$ or not ?

Do some "coins" skip the ICO stage ?

There are many different opinions on this. But I think that it is better to buy during the ICO stage because you can get some bonuses. Some may argue that the price fall after the coin is listed on the exchange. Therefore it is profitable to buy the coin when its price is low. But the price falls because the bounty hunters sell their tokens which they receive as rewards. So the coin will surely rise as the fall in price will attract many investors.

If the project is good and promising, then the best option is to buy tokens at the ICO stage. In this case, you will get excellent tokens at a bargain price, plus bonuses. This is an excellent way to get an excellent profit.
It's another matter if it's about a project that is rather dubious. The price of these tokens is likely to fall after the listing. But here the question is whether such tokens in general are necessary?

to date, almost the majority of ico companies are very modest and prices after the listing are still falling.

This might not be the time for ICO investing. Most of the ICOs are not that profitable to invest especially at times like this that the market is on continuous downtrend from the beginning of this year. Investing after the listing on exchangers are more advisable simply because we would already have initial thoughts on the coin itself whether if it would be a good one or not.

Sometimes, they team can perform some shady deals by dumping their own coins on exchanges, which is very unfair to investors. it could also be due to the activities of bounty hunters

indeed to choose buy coin when ICO or after the listing, the choice is very difficult, because it has advantages and disadvantages respectively, if we choose ICO right, it would be very profitable once in compare after a listing

If you find potential in the project then definitely you will be them in the exchange when the prices went very low to the ICO price. Most of the project will decrease their price after listing in the exchange, so wait until they list in the exchange.

I don't recommend you investing in ICO because of nothing for sure there. If you want to get a real profit, just better to buy some exist coins in exchange. I know that the bonuses in ICO are quite good, but it doesn't guarantee that the ICO would end up good as well. The risk for being shit coin, it's unknown and you may never know.

ICO investment is hugely profitable. before choosing any ICO we need to research a lot. The team and project roadmap, Escrow if alls are fine then good to made investment. if not then no need to waste of money.
I like to do both investments.  But buying form exchange is good for me.because bounty hunter dump coin a lot and its good chance to buy some coin with cheap rate.
Before doing anything in a crypto industry first do your own research. without it, you may lose all of your assets at a time.so be careful.

If you evaluate ICO as profit only it's sad. And that's why I wait when end today's ICO period.

And about a bounty. Do you really believe that 0.5-1% can dump price on the markets? Such a reward usually give for bountyhunters. Do you see how much get funds and private sales investors? Which bonus on these rounds? Try to watch. DYOUR

If you are very confident with the ICO project surely you could directly invest. As I'm sure you've done some analysis. And if you can invest when the ICO and the next time the project is completed and entered into the Exchange. This is very good and you can wait for the token price exceeds the price of the ICO.

It is much more profitable to buy a coin after ISO, when it appears on the stock exchange. The price may be several times smaller.

yes I agree with you, with some of my experiences after ICO and being listed on the market, their coin prices have decreased in value compared to investments as long as ICO is still running, so it's a better investment, in my opinion is when the ICO is finished and after being listed on the market, so we can minimize the risk of loss

It all depends on how successful the project will be. If immediately after the end of the ICO there is no necessary marketing, it is better to buy tokens on exchanges

ICOs are much better to buy very early or much later after it hits an exchange (not immediately, those tank a lot afterwards)
Now that the mostly weak hands have left or people are more cautious, the market will stabilise towards coins that have more promising techs and solid teams.
Following some trends that I have personally observed, the thing that will change is more and more non-ethereum based ICOs will come out.
For example, check out the Eterbase exchange project that will revolutionize the way exchanges currently work.

You should invest when the coins are already entered in the Exchange. When entered in the exchange rates will be very low and you can invest. By investing for the long term it will be better. Be patient and keep up the price of the coin can on top of the price of the ICO.
