Being a thousands of followers in telegram on a ICO project is better for them to attract more investors and contributors. But telegram is just one of the platforms that support the ICO. Like social media, blog and articles, bounties and more.

Yes, I agree here, diversifiying a marketing is a very good measure to make their own project more famous and attract new investors. For me it's most important all the channels are updated often enough so everyone can follow the progress. And an official Telegram update group, where you haven't to read all the spam questions.

I think people are over with the telegram hype. It's a very cold bear period so their numbers does no even matter. Exceptional projects will work even they don't have a lot of members in their telegram. It's just been use to attract more investors and that's all.

Success no .. popularity yes. But that doesn't mean the price will moon and that you are able to buy low & sell high.

no.. telegram is just a group.. you can see the number of the member but you cannot sure if this all member are investor.. you can see the ico successful if they reached the soft cap.. telegram is not a base of success of ico.

I think that this is a very big mistake if you are trying to assess the success of projects by the number of people who are registered in the telegram-channel.

Been seeing projects' Telegram groups blow up and I think that's an attribute of success. Personally, when I find a project, I do judge them by their social media presence. How active a telegram channel does say a lot with their demand.

With the rise of groups exceeding Telegram's 50k member cap...what do you guys think?

Article: https://news.bitcoin.com/telegram-followers-the-new-metric-for-cryptocurrency-success/

In real and organic scenario the number of Telegram members is one of the measure of a ICO popularity.I have seen some ICOs opening second, third ,fourth telegram channels as they have reached max capacity on the main channel (max being 100k members). But now a days scammy ICOs are buying fake/paid telegram members to boost the member count.

success of an ICO is not only seen from telegram, but seen from a good ICO team in their marketing, but telegram is also a supporter for easy communication with investors, so between a good team and telegram communications help each other in the success of an ICO

I think so, an active and large number of telegraph groups have a very positive effect on the success of an ICO. Such a telegraph group is similar to a free advertisement that can be more effectively disseminated so that investors know and understand the currency.

Remember that the big guys like Bancor raised so much money and they only had 1 Telegram channel with a few hundred people but they were all ACTIVE and interested. Whereas I've seen projects like you said with 3 channels all full, but all the questions ever asked are "when listing" "when moon" and "when pump".

Organic scenario almost doesn't exist anymore for reach. When I was active on Telegram I kept getting added into channels where I realised people were just shilling their videos. So-called influencers that made me so angry for spam.

Yes, even the community manager will firstly update on the telegram only, most of the managers from the company will respond very fastly only through telegram instead of Bitcointalk forum. Once the majority of the members are kept increasing and this might be helpful for the ICO project to be successful.

you got some point here .  communication is definetly needed to become succesful in anything . team members , admin , community managers should always respond and update thier users not just on telegram but to also in any platform so that they will know if what problems the project is facing .

telegram is just the new trend these days because many ico's and campaigns are using it more oftenly compared to other types of group messenging app

overall i can say that telegram is not the new measure of ico's success .

I occasionally do ICO research in this way. See how many people participated in the telegram group. Because on the telegram it is guaranteed that it is a 'real person'. And it is estimated that many investors see the development of the project from the telegram group. Usually people are sure of the ICO when they see the telegram group above 50k members. But, more definitely see on the website, ann etc.

I wouldn't judge future success of the project based on how much telegram users they have on the group. Probably most of them are bounty members, and not people interested in project or investors.

Social media presence overall is important as a part of marketing so the word about the project can spread around. But the engagement of potential users and their willingness to invest and contribute to project is way more important.

I would say yes, Telegram is a very important marketing part of every project and maybe the most important one.

Why?

Because most informations, especially updates of the project, are announced in Telegram so everyone is watching News in Telegram.

the community activity is an important factor to be a successful ico, and telegram is one of the community, slack and twitter are also important to judge the community, cause some projects dont build a telegram group

telegram is a social communication channel that connects investors, and telegrams are used by many investors as a social network to exchange trading projects because they are very secure in terms of information.

I really agree with your opinion if I think the telegram is only for communication tools between investors not for the success of the project or the ico because telegrams can be made into bots, bro.

the project evaluation cannot be seen from the large number of members, but the project was successful because of the many beliefs and the attractiveness that can make many people invest in this new coin purchase.
