Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

Bitmain: "Fuck it guys! Bitcoin is on the DL and we can get a shit ton of it off these suckers!"

Board maker: "Sir, the new T9's aren't ready yet!"

Bitmain: "I know that, just get the old fucking A3's from 2014 out of storage and change the algo to them. Some idiots will think it's a great money maker."

Board maker: "You mean like what we did with that D3's?"

Bitmain: "Exactly! Now hurry up. I'm not paying $0.10/hour to feed my ego."

This all happened, I was there at the meeting

Back in my day Bitcoin used to cost $69

I'm not understanding the algorithm that it uses, can anyone find much information about it?

Sai Coin is the main thing you'd be mining on this algo

Oh yikes, looks like global hashrate for Blake(2b) is around 627.58 TH/s (at this moment). It would only take 770 AntMiner A3s to double the global hashrate. Looks like this is going to be another AntMiner D3 situation.

I think ZEC, Zash.   I lookup a profit calculator, it was $ 83 per month.   Not good for $ 2400 machine..

Pass

Use whattomine.com and set the hashrate and algo to see profits

So anyone else see the issue that this can only mine Siacoin (SC)? Even a small batch would decrease the profitability of mining SC by 60-80% given the current global hashrate.

Current profit approx 1400$/month.

So we are looking at approx 560-700$/month in profit on a 2375$ machine after they are all up and running. A 4 1/2 month or so ROI, not great, not bad either...

Thoughts?

Whattomine show sia at $431 per day with network rate a 650TH/s.  So if they release 500+ of these would go down to ~ $200/day right?  Not sure about rollout of this or obelisk, but calculators show money in first few months before power goes crazy.  sialytics.com profit estimator shows stupid money.

I was hoping their next machine they released would have been a more efficient L3+ or S9 - even if it wouldn't be for a while - but instead we get a D3 2.0 lol.

just curious where the estimate of 500 units comes from.  I have no idea how many they would have so just wondering

Its just a number I pulled from my ass.  Like a worst case if they were capable.  650TH is approximately 750 worth of A3's mining SIA right now.  So if they could match what was on the market, 750 A3's, that would double the amount of hashpower mining, and half the profit.  I know the obelisk one shows shipping this summer.  Those guys are screwed because difficulty will be much higher now that A3 is out.  The million dollar question is how many can the companies ship, as that directly impacts what you profit.  yes, today, if you had the A3 to hook up, calculator shows almost $500 per day lol.  But that would only happen if no other A3 got hooked up.  Assuming this will be just like D3.  Does anyone know how many of those they shipped and how fast?

I would guess in the thousands... Obelisk calculator shows 3500+ for first batch and 6k for second.  So by august, just from obelisk, there will be an additional 7600TH/s just from obelisk.  Thats 10x whats mining today.  So just counting obelisk, that 500/day drops to $50/day.  Assume bitmain can match obelisk output, and now we are at $25/day.  ~100day ROI, then drops from there.....So, maybe if you can get super fast, you can make a quick buck before 20k miners hit
