Are these Halong miners?

https://siamining.com/addresses/25865daf640696361b432bd517b812270d8459af48f13876108354ee7e028e0e15c13ab5030c

Heaven help us Sia miners....

we are almost at .01 and the big sharks have joined the pool.

Looks like they may be having some issues with them though or just initial testing.

Looks like Halong B52 testing.  Only kamikazes flying (buying) B52s with all the other hardware being deployed on the network.    A3 SC reward gonna be smashed down to 200-300sc per day by end of April. If SiaCoin price stays in $0.008-$0.018 range, then that is estimated $5-$6/day.  Poor bastards that pre-ordered Obelisk SC didnt even have a chance.

Wild west man....  Wild west.

Anyone that owns an A3 or other Sia miner needs the price of this coin to move. It’s barely above 1 cent at the moment. What are people’s predictions on this?

Bitmain just sold batch2 A3s at very low price of $980.  Halong selling B52 batch1 at $5,549.  Obelisk supposed to release batch 1 of SC1 miner this summer.  That is a lot of mining power focused on a small SIA network with no other coin to mine besides SIA.  There is definitely an oversupply of ASICs on the SIA network for where the dev team is with the project.
Regarding the price of SC siacoin,,,,,,, it looks like many ASIC miners  took the approach of mine and hodl for a better price, so there is increasing overhang (hodlers waiting to sell)  to overcome for the price to break through 4-5 cents again.

Come back in a couple of years.  Either Siacoin will be a micro penny....$0.00035 or at $0.10+ depending on execution of the dev team, btc price, etc..
Besides, SC doesn't have a cap to stop inflation, devs say they will implement a "burn" mechanism, but who knows. Something as simple as the portal for Obelisk customers to see their orders is months late.

so 700 of these will  be = to the network.

What is going to happen to all other gpu algos?

are we to see asics for every coin's algo?

At the risk of sounding like Bill Gates saying that 640k memory is all you will ever need (fake quote by the way), I think asics have kind of hit their breaking point with new algos.  The other top algos that don't have asics are supposedly asic-resistant, I'm talking about Equihash, Neoscrypt, Lyrav2 and Daggerhashimoto.  I just can't think of any coin with a large market cap that an asic would be designed for at this point.

They are asic resistant as long as manufacturers are not getting into them, a harsh truth!

Mining aside, I think its idiotic to fund a glorified kickstarter for technology that rapidly evolves, especially when the product has a 9 month lead time.

Correct, pre orders should not be more than 1 month long, i am really upset for those poor souls who paid 9+ months in advance for a miner which is probably obsolete on arrival

Actually, it was a real quote - but incomplete and taken out of context and your version of the quote is off a bit.

So this algo is dead  due to huge mining power.

and what is going to happen with

https://halongmining.com/shop/dragonmint-b29-blake256-miner/

blake/decred   the miner above is 2.1th  the network is 1420th

so 700 of these will  be = to the network.

When miner makers see how few of these "kill the network" level miners actually sell, they'll back off on them.

Probably.

Depends on if they use old enough tech (28nm or older) to keep the costs down to the point that even 1000 miners sold = make money.

As of right this second, a couple months - but I'm pretty sure Bitmain has some being shipped, and another batch due by the end of the month.
Wasn't there someone else (Obelisk perhaps?) that announced a SIA miner a few months back but has yet to deliver?

The price of sia has fallen over 50% in the last month. I don’t see an end in sight either.

Do ASICS usually increase the price of the coin? I would think it would drive prices even farther down

All coins are down right now. BTC is around $8k at the moment.

And no, ASICs don't inherently increase the price of a coin, the added capability of the network makes it more appealing to investors and for actual use. For finite coins, as the difficulty increases (which ASICs definitely contribute to) and the payouts per block decrease the coin usually ends up worth more, but SIA is an infinite coin, so that math doesn't really apply either. I personally think it will get as high as 5c, even 10c, in the not-too-distant future, but I also think mining it on an A3 is not going to be worth the electricity by the end of the year...

The price of pretty much ALL Cryptocoins has dropped 50% or more from the peak around mid-January.

ASIC have ZERO effect on price - it's PRICE that affects profitability and the profitability that affects the potential for an ASIC to be sold at a profit for it's maker.

Why would an added capability of the network be more appealing to investors and actual use?  What's the rationale behind that.

ASICs at first dumping prices down  as coin supply to the market increased dramatically.
Then situation  can stabilize with  dramatically difficulty increasing. Or not.
Noone knows because siacoin is not the bitcoin. Do such many  peoply want to buy it?
I doubt if this is true.

Looks like someone got an early shipment of Halongs. 450 or so of them are live on this address, all with hashrates around 4TH or so. Can't imagine it's any other miner. Here it comes...
