A lot has been said about mining and about the electricity consumption of the activities related to bitcoin mining. However, I have thought of the alternatives and how other systems produce not just energy waste, but also plenty of useless work and "human waste".

To have a network that can ensure the completeness of transactions, the global accessibility and all the features that bitcoins, and many alts, have at the moment, would probable produce a huge carbon footprint. Just think of the VISA system or the banking system... the amount of people working on it, the waste of commuting to works, the infrastructure.

Thinking of all that, would you still say Bitcoin is bad for the environment?
In order to earn Bitcoin then convert to real money, users are not afraid to invest in computers with ever-increasing capacity. The continued operation of all computers to solve complex algorithms will result in power consumption in excess of 42 Twh, equivalent to 0.19% of the world's electricity consumption. This is really a worrying figure
Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

On January 17, 2018, the energy consumption of this coded currency equaled the energy level of Peru.
Every day, new Bitcoin diggers will be involved in the verification process and add them to Blockchain. This not only increases the demand for electricity but also increases carbon emissions.

Yes, actually today's bitcoin is really good for everyone's life when owning it. Now that bitcoin has made our lives richer and more stable, bitcoin is a long and stable investment. I hope the end of 2018 worth it will reach $ 25000.

I think Bitcoin is good for environment. Look at the way it is promoting everyone. It is definitely valuable for the locality. For instance, PRG, a cannabis coin, is offering marijuana with which the people’s diseases can be cured. These coins are excellent for investments as they even take care of environmental issues.

Obviously, Bitcoin is good for the environment. It is working on such a vast canvas that it should not be proclaimed as bad. Yes, there might be additional costs but look at coins like LTC, TAU, which are not only giving good gains, but also are concerned about the locality.

excessive use of electrical energy for mining is a bad thing and can deplete the country's electrical energy supply. the meaning is that the management of electrical energy for mining should be managed properly.

I think the solution to save electrical energy is to use a hydro miner, or use solar energy, or also with the use of electric energy waste or steam.

In my country, the rubbish is managed to be a power source, and it can be used for mining.

Bitcoin diggers will be involved in the verification process and add them to Blockchain. This not only increases the demand for electricity but also increases carbon emissions. But we think there should be restrictions on mining and electricity usage every day. May be the government can find the best solution about it. Which is the best useful for Environment. Other than that I don't think there is any other use of bitcoin miners. Other wise bitcoin is just bad for the environment and uses too much electricity when there are alternatives to mining.

We have solar energy now, thats concerning the electricity issue. Bitcoin being good for the environment and for you to see it's proof, you have to get everyone involved in it. Other countries that produce electricity 24/7 don't complain of electricity wastage because they use it too, Bitcoin for all is a revenue for the whole country and it's good for the environment.

BTC's mining machine generates a lot of heat during mining, causing the ambient air temperature to rise!
BTC also consumes a lot of electricity during the mining process! BTC's scrap mining machine has also polluted the local ecological environment!

The energy consumed for BTC mining work is small compared to traditional work. But the output value is very high!
And BTC's mines are built outside the city. The main pollution is carbon dioxide pollution!
The pollution caused to the environment is very small!

Blockchain technology in particular, can have a positive impact on the environment -it really depends on your perspective. One benefit I see is policy-making. How do we develop sound environmental policies? By electing the right officials. With a blockchain election, people could effortlessly and securely vote, regardless of location.

Put the mining farms into a warehouse surrounded by fertile land. Plant trees and other vegetation to provide a haven for wildlife. There you go - Bitcoin mining is good for the environment. Smiley

Even better if they convert the energy stored in all the discarded plastic bottles that are everywhere. They could use this to generate electricity.

very easy to say, but whether until now there is a company or someone who do that? I do not think so.
in fact they prefer to actually consume large amounts of electric power. tool mining and coupled with a cooler. moreover, this is not just done in some places but everyone who has the opportunity to build it would want to like it.

so those who recognize crypto with better energy usage but still do and participate with this, what they do is futile

Something excessive will be bad. The electricity consumption that miners use will also have a negative impact on the environment and I think you need to make environmental improvements, so that the carbon gas you already dispose of your mining waste becomes balanced with the environment.
You may need to buy a large area of land and plant a thousand trees, in addition to the financial benefits for your future, this will also make you reduce greenhouse gases.

Most of the people that gets into bitcoin mining now a days are using solar power a source of electricity. Specially in china, where the largest hash power of bitcoin is generated. I can say that it is more efficient compared to banks that still uses a combination of electricity, paper and human effort to make transactions.

The people who say that bitcoin is bad for Environment ignore a lot of factors. Many countries are considering similar options just to save the paper (tress) used for printing so much currency.

We can always compensate for the loss done to environment by bitcoins. Most of the technological things like AC cause harm but we have to consider the benefits as well.

The more simple solution is either to solve the finite resource issue and find a way to have renewable energy, or alternatively to move bitcoin away from a method which is so energy intensive, think ethereum's plans to move to POS.

Sure it would be good for the bitcoin environment to be used in a good way as other people use bitcoin to make a man's head so I can say that bitcoin helps the environment.

Yes,it can save lot of resources so which is good for environment. The mining needs large amount of electricity but world has huge number of banks and their buildings were thousands of thousands so imagine if there is no bank we can save all those electricity and can save the environment too.And it also can human resource but it will be bad for the people who working on this sector but normal people it can save the banking fees and timing because we can do it our own in a matter of seconds.

There are lots of industries which consume high electricity and it seems that it could not be totally changed.Instead solar power usage should be promoted. So bitcoin only could not be targeted for high electrical consumption and blamed. If we start to avoid any new technological inventions for the reason of high electrical consumption, then we would have to go backward towards stone age.
