This cool guy says he will also come, your party is getting famous! This cool guy with his entourage is also thinking to come (passwd=bitcoin).

Huh. Only found this thread now. Guess I'm late to the party.
Sorry for not reading through the entire thread, but what's the current plan? Selling tickets starts in 3 days (that seems to be the countdown on the webpage), is that right?
What's next? Are the details of the party known already? It will take place in Frankfurt, for sure? Personally, I also would have preferred a nicer place like Berlin, but I guess Frankfurt makes sense logistically.
EDIT: One other thing... I know many in the community are at least somewhat critical towards fiat money, etc bla bla, but for now it is simple reality that btc is extremely volatile, while fiat (Euro or USD or whatever) is not. So I think it would have been a much wiser choice to define the entrance price in a common currency, and then ask for the corresponding btc value on the day of reservation. The way it looks now, the already pretty high entrance price just went up another 20% in fiat terms. Maybe I'm just a frugal bore, but much as I'd like to join this party (really would like to meet a bunch of you guys), I'm not too happy with the pricing model.

Not sure which Bitcoin wallet you should use? Get Electrum!Electrum is an open-source lightweight client: fast, user friendly, and 100% secure. Download the source or executables for Windows/OSX/Linux/Android from, and only from, the official Electrum homepage.

And that's exactly the fun. Paying 1BTC, doesn't matter where the price is. The higher it is the higher the fun, because more money to organize the party.

I'm not sur i'll enjoy a party with complete strangers To much different taste would make impossible to find the equilibrium So if it's for drink beer and talk about bitcoin with some random dude, no need to pay 1 BTC for that But good luck and i'll follow the livestream

Lost coins only make everyone else's coins worth slightly more. Think of it as a donation to everyone. it has lots of buttery taste..

who thinks this part is bound to make the headlines? and when that happens, and people see everyone celebrating over bitcoin, even more people will chase the cryptocurrency.
we're bound to see this on huffingpost or something.

voting with slight preferences in favor of Frankfurt. The month of May would probably suit me well.

Give the job to Kuzco (one of my alpaca), he can handle it.
Bring him to the party. It's not a Bitcoin party without an alpaca present.

I have an idea, let's invite Max Keiser to the party! He is kind of a Bitcoin star and also a funny guy. Also, IIRC, he lives in London/Paris or so, in any case not too far from Germany. We should invite Satoshi. Maybe he'll come undercover.

Is there a tentative date for this event?
January, if Bitcoin doesnt crash within 5 days. should it really stay above $1k on stamp for 5 days, 8 weeks later would indeed be early february, but we can´t stick to the original plan. the entire logic of the planned party is being over-run by this incredible rise of bitcoin. we do have a (first world ) problem: we have to see how ticket sale is going: the number of sold tickets influence the the size of the party (venue/catering/line-up...) at what number of sold tickets do we close ticket sale ? waiting for 1000 sold tickets could prolong the time until it takes place. pulling the trigger at, let´s say 250 tickets would result in a scaled down party. we cannot run it as a conventional concert with a set date and then try to sell tickets accordingly since this would not be a crowd funded event anymore but a normal concert/party and in this case v.a.t. would apply for ticket sale. this would eat up 19% of ticket funds before the first drink is mixed. we are being fucked over by success of bitcoin.

I would rather wait a few weeks more after the trigger than originally planned and have a really great party than to have a hastily organized party just to be within the 8 weeks after the trigger.

There doesn't need to be a crazy rush. The time can be well used. I'd still like to help out and ensure there is a charity element and so on; the idea of rich mostly male geeks having an expensive party and showing off their money is not endearing. Bitcoin Friday has shown what can be done that's positive in one way. I suggested to the team that we set up a Bitcoin charity day for the same day as the party, and try to get supported by the Bitcoin ecosystem in various ways. I'm sure it'll be worth my time to try and do it if people are supportive.
