Yes, at least the brief reviews and ratings they make are enough to help us to at least select some projects for further research.

At least the above steps, it is helpful to eliminate some projects, and narrow the choice, because now too many startup that do ico at the same time.

Do your own search as much as possible the background of the coins like teams double check if they are legit or not , their projects if it is totally useful here in our world, how many total supply of them and how many people supporting on it those are the thing you need to care about others will follow through. Goodluck.

Spend time in the forums and you'll find a lot of useful information here. When you've seen some recommendations, read the coin's whitepaper and roadmap. That should help you decide

Very informative.. For me what I mostly do is:
*pursue a literature search and review of the project (ie. In contrast to it's real life application)

*do a backgroup check of the team members.. Probably their coherence as a team, experience and credibility

*find out if they have existing product or service

I guess this might help..

I often observe the development of coins that I am going to  buy, I often check all social media like telegram, twitter and reddit, medium. if the team that owns the coin is good how it works then I will invest on that coin.

really checking on social media like twitter, will add our confidence to the news coin that we will buy.
I also often read events that will be present we can see it at https://coinmarketcal.com/. may be useful.

I do it in the same way. What is more, I don't make any investment prior to my friends or people I talk to, tell me about coin or ICO. This shows sentiment of people I interact with and if they did research, I receive more precise information

Make your own research,analyze development team,no of exchanges listed it,interact with different people on this bitcoin talk forum to get some ideas,Community response,Study descriptive white paper,Watch videos related to that particular Altcoins and get ideas from different crypto expert.I think after getting all of these things you would be clear to decide whether to invest in it or not.

Very helpful, because we will not be able to learn all the projects one by one. The more information such as how many percent of their target that has been achieved will be better for our capital to make choices.

So I thoght this could be of help for some that also in search so they will also be inspired .. maybe they could also ad stuff arround here that could be of help!

Research it takes a few days/weeks so if u're in this fase take your time.

1.Forum search about the coin;
2.Join the telegram group and try to interact with the members;
3.Try to make a post on the forum and also see the crowd sentiment;
4.See some data on coinmarketcap.com , : https://icodrops.com/ , https://icorating.com/
5.Watch this tool from investing.com - find here the explination: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2873063.msg29503403#msg29503403
**LATER EDIT:
6. Team - research moust of the members on linkedin and google , also the backers or advisors.

Doing this can be of help to get a sense of a really good buy... at least this is what  I do.

What are your thoughts ? How do you do it??

Cheers!

I agree on what you have presented and I would like to add more on it. You can also read thw whitepaper of the ICO to know the nature of the business, secondly to assess the team behind it if they are worthwhile and has a positive work background. Check also their roadmap if they are following it. Lastly, make sure that their social media site is well organized because as it will add plus points to them.

I agree with you points. Before buying any altcoin, it is advisable to deeply research the project. Many altcoins have good ideas and are not scam but there are also some altcoin which will sound or look convincing but they are scam. Be patient,do not be in a haste when selecting an altcoin.

look at the chart of the coin you will buy. then look at the volume of coins you will buy on some exchange. try to buy coins listed on a large market such as bittrex, poloniex, huobi or others

if your altcoin is still in the ICO process then you should analyze some aspects of the bounty program, such as team, adviser, WP and Vision of the altcoin

What you do is almost the same as I always do minus the icorating part, I never look at it because their evaluation is different from mine, I don't want other party to affect my decision so I always do the research myself, I look at their ann in this forum, join their telegram and ask a few questions to see how the dev answer it, do they understand their project or not.

Before making any kind of investment, you should always do a good research about altcoins. Also, my recommend is that, you should read the whitepaper well and focus on the innovative ways of an altcoin.

Before buying any altcoin, be sure to learn about the project of the community behind the altcoin by looking at their social media accounts  and reading the white paper to get the idea of the coin.
