The old topic did NOT have any good formatting, taking the advice from others posted on the thread, I think we should all follow the universal format of this: originally posted by pugman

Code:
[b]USER PROFILE [/b] : [url=https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=xxxx] Username [/url]
[b]MERIT SUMMARY [/b]: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;u=xxxx
[b]PROOF[/b]: links to images or posts that proof guilt or intent
[b]MISCELLANEOUS[/b]:Anything else the user wants to state.

Please note, that users posted here are not automatically guilty nor should they be tagged as such, however, users posted here in the OP, I feel as if they abused the merit system by either trading or buying merit.

When posting proof, I respectfully request that you take you upload a screenshot of the users post, or posts that you feel are over-merited because posts can be deleted.

Please note that some of these posted below are copy and pasted from users who posted it in this thread,

Also shameless self promotion, I am selling 2017 Classic and Short Bitcoin Penny rolls. PM me if interested

USER PROFILE : CarlOrff
MERIT SUMMARY : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;u=822485
PROOF: https://postimg.org/image/b4vdnsoar/
MISCELLANEOUS: User received 50 merit from  Coin++ and gave them 50 back

USER PROFILE : Chetty
MERIT SUMMARY : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;u=1080650
PROOF:  https://postimg.org/image/3zvrlfi2t/
MISCELLANEOUS: 50 merits for that post i think that is exagerated

Also you should look at the merits Chetty had sent to ZloiRediska and Hanna_Money.
10 merits for "What do you plan to get in a airdrop?"

Interestingly enough the author of this thread "killyou72" received 6 Merit from his alt account "killyou73"..
I wanted to see how merit worked, I didnt quite understand it. If I wanted to abuse it, I would have used my main account to rank up my side account. I skimmed over theymos post and initally wanted nothing to do with merit, and after sending merit merit from my side to my main and rereading the merit thread that merit doesnt refresh everymonth I gave out large chunks of merit to get rid of all of my merit so I would not have to be bothered with it. But then after a few hours/days, after seeing everyone complain, I realized I could have given my merit out betterly.
OK, fair enough. I'll give the benefit of the doubt

If you look at the OP's picture, he owns the account that made the thread selling the merit points you can see that from the screenshot
If you read the rest of the thread you'll know you're wrong and you owe OP an apology, as LogitechMouse already did

If you look at when I gave that merit, its gotta be in the first 4ish hours of merit even being out too.
You're right. It's clear to me now you weren't trying to abuse. Sorry about that

Would it not be better to use a table to store the details. Maybe? Like:

With the accusation link being where the page is the user was accused of merit farming.

I was in the middle of typing this reply to Vod when the last thread got locked. I hope you don't mind me continuing here.

I mean spending the time going through their posts and linking the ETH addresses they're using to defraud campaigns. I've already found a couple of alt rings just from seeing odd things on the recent merits page. Previously I would have seen putting that effort in as pointless, whereas now I think it can actually reduce spam eventually if we catch enough of them.

Well, if you believe that what you are looking for will benefit the general public, and you can collect the information without using special access, I would live to talk to you about adding your information to BPIP.

I'm sorry I'm not explaining myself very well. So example:

Just looked at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;stats=recent

First thing that jumps out Today at 11:58:29 AM: 24 from nesty for Re: Too late to invest in cryptos if you're old?

It's truly fabulous post:

What would you guys advise someone who is retired, living off pension and savings? Is it too late/risky to invest at that kind of age?
Do you guys think the elderly have a chance of jumping on the crypto train, or do you guys think it's too late for them to invest?

No its not too late for elderly to invest in bitcoin for as long as you have the capital to invest and they understand what they are investing they surely can invest. I believe that there are still elderly who can cope up with the technology if they will effort to learn the crypto world they would succeed in investing.

The authors merit page:

Edit: Posted in correct format now.

Disappointingly I cannot find anymore linked accounts from those addresses this time but I did come up with a few more on previous occasions. What I'm getting at is that I wouldn't have bothered to spend that much effort if these guys could just open a new account and get ranked up automatically in a few weeks. Now if these accounts get tagged they'll be out of business.

Great idea,

I will try to figure that out.

edit:

I think this format is better than a table, for me, it is more natural to read up and down then right to left, it takes way more work to read across the screen than down the screen

I have already worked out how my system will detect and display such obvious abuse.

I am very interested in more ways to detect public merit scammers.

I was also browsing the "Recent Merits" page and immediately thought that nesty and
ammo121810 were suspicious. After receiving 24 merit ammo121810 was awarded with
12 sMerit, which he immediately used to merit nesty. Linking their ETH addresses
should be sufficient proof.

Have you been able to establish a connection to the user connexus? He might be somehow
involved, because apparently he spent his merits exclusively on posts by nesty:

clarification: I didn´t follow the universal format for reporting users, because this is merely
an addition to an already reported merit abuse (see the post of TheQuin)

No, it might be the same person but that account isn't being used for bounty hunting so no evidence in ETH addresses to be found. It could just be a genuine shitpost fan.

I stumbled upon this post:
Why i don't have any sMerit left in my account? Few days ago i have around 30 sMerit but now i have 0.
Code:
we reserve the right to decay unused sMerit in the future.
This is the reason? But i am using my sMerits.
You handed out 33 sMerits since the introduction. I guess that's where they went.
Thanks friend i found that my account may got hacked by someone.
Most of the receiving accounts now have exactly 10 Merit points:
Tasarr
centr
futoplakve
Kjara
consicur
AZVAL
Udrujes
zamil
xparetols
ALMAZ76
caporwink
Although it doesn't guarantee they're all in on it, it's very unlikely this is a coincidence. It seems like an account farmer is ranking up his Jr. Member accounts (some have reached Member rank already).
He's trying to hide his trail by sending small amounts of Merit from different accounts.

Update:
Can you say which sMerits points were not sent by you?
The sMerits which was sent from 30th Jan(MattLeBlanc) to 5th Jan (consicur)
I created thread here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2897865.msg29799956#msg29799956
I only listed the accounts with exactly 10 Merit.

There's more than reasonable doubt in that case. All those accounts need to be exterminated. Unfortunately, they do not seem to have posted any(?) addresses yet. Waiting for the administration to handle this is almost equal to waiting for fictional gods to save you.

I suspect these two to be associated with merit farming looking at their merit-giving habits to each other.

Is there any place where I can find and objective definition of what constitutes an abuse of the system?

a) Meriting "too much"?
b) Mutually sending merit?
c) Sending merit to accounts that seem to be linked by exchange of tokens?
d) Meriting to ANN threads?
e) Which other cases?

Who is going to decide if the abuse is considered as such? That is, is there a "jury" and an "appeals process"?

Please point me to any link or resource if there is any.

Why are posting this same thing here again. You already created a thread with same content here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2909419.0

Is there any place where I can find and objective definition of what constitutes an abuse of the system?

a) Meriting "too much"?
b) Mutually sending merit among users or groups of users?
c) Sending merit to accounts that seem to be linked by exchange of tokens?
d) Meriting to ANN threads?
e) Which other cases?

Who is going to decide if the abuse is considered as such? That is, is there a "jury" and an "appeals process"?

Please point me to any link or resource if there is any. I do know that merit should be sent to post that are "of quality", but I am asking for something specific.
