The trick is he won’t tell you to invest into the account first he will wait till he has changed the recovery email. Then proceed to ask.

Sorry, but do people still really fall for stupid scams like this? I could smell that scam from miles away and people really thought they would get their coins doubled? ![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif)

A very good example was the Twitter hack, where accounts of famous people were hacked. Those famous accounts offered free Bitcoins like this screenshot shows: SourceThe hackers had several BTCs of deposits in a very short time, in total I think it was about 10 Bitcoin that could be "earned" this way. As soon as you supposedly get something for free, greed kicks in and you don't think about being a victim of an attack.

Of course, it is worth responding to the claims of such a person. In addition, from the very beginning, it is unclear whether he is a Troll or not. However, if you see that a person is a fraud and writes messages in order to Troll others, then I would recommend sending such posters to ignore and do not respond to their messages.
I feel like "don't feed the troll" is a real thing, it is not really a hidden fact or anything, it is actually a proved to be working method. If you ignore trolls and if you just let it be, they have to leave, now if there is cyber bullying and there are hundreds of people mocking you for something that could be hard to ignore, however if it just one person trying to get attention, as long as you ignore them they will leave. Remember gambler-protect or whatever his name was? Dude was around the gambler world all the time trying to sabotage or blackmail his way to wealth and bothered casinos as a living, that was literally his way of making money, dude is banned and gone and nobody even remembers him that much, over time nobody will remember him. So, just ignore them and they will be gone out of your lives eventually. This is the correct approach to trolls, I also wrote about it. In the topic next door, there was a discussion about why some casinos do not want to open topics with announcements on our forum. Perhaps the presence of trolls is the reason for this. Well, when you have the moderator rights of your own topic, you could actually control it, if a troll comes up and talks bad about your website, you have the right to just silence them, you can basically just focus on the part where they are actually talking decent stuff and even complaints that are making sense actually, however when someone who is a bad person comes up and they talk silly stuff that doesn't make sense and you prove them wrong and they still keep coming back, like seriously get a life moment, at that moment you can delete all they say and keep deleting and at one point they will have to leave. That is what trolls need, a moderator that could delete whenever they start making no sense at all, that way we would be relaxed and not care about the trolls since they would be banned.

As soon as you supposedly get something for free, greed kicks in and you don't think about being a victim of an attack. Talking about this type of scams, I do not really trust any behaviour like the one stated above. Also, i checked the address shared by the scammer who got access to Elon's Twitter account and i found that only 0.00452914 was deposited to the address equivalent of 46.32 USD at this moment not 10 BTC as you mentioned. This behaviour should be scammy, i can say that the newbies and the greedy souls only will fall for such tricks. Mark my words, there's nothing called "I double your funds in 24 hours" if there's a real working method then don't expect peoples to share it! There's kindness in this earth but if peoples really start giving 100% profit daily then the goverment is printing bank notes and harming their economy and causing hyperinflation. Otherwise, if there's any other scenarios then you're just having a day-dream or you're going to be scammed. Just my 2 cents.

Moderated topics about projects are not in demand among ordinary people, because they can delete messages from both trolls and messages with justified criticism. Personally, I would not write in such topics on principle.

Any info on the polish scammer ?
I havent been active in the chat. Could you please elloborate, which scam? That's just a newbie made the account for trolling. If he have been scammed, he could have made a much detailed post with proper evidences. No information on how much he lost and how ? This is not new thing since there are so many people creating new account and posting some negative content just to destroy the reputation of some sites here, but I never believe those one especially if they cannot provide a solid proof on their accusation and also I don't trust those claims came from new accounts created so best for him to provide the important details and people will decide if he's legit or another troll wandering here. Is there way that moderators could be hired for this exact purpose? I mean I am not a big chat dude neither so I do not know many scammers and the slight moments I check there is usually just regular chat (interestingly, not always about gambling, there are people talking regular life as well) but having bunch of moderators that is either hired or even voluntary could make a huge change. I know it would be very hard to pick who will be mods, but if you could get like a dozen of them added today, you will see a sudden change, like not just a small change that is insignificant, you will see change that is sudden and instant and everything will be much better there. However when you do that, while preventing scams, you are also making it a less free situation for chatters as well with fear of mods.

They can hire mods but in my opinion its not ideal thing to do since it cost to much for such intention but let see if they will do the suggestion since its useful idea.

Scammers work in various ways but the end result they are aiming for is to fool people in to losing their funds. The trick is he won’t tell you to invest into the account first he will wait till he has changed the recovery email. Then proceed to ask.

I mean scams can happen anywhere.
Scam attempts usually only take place where it is possible to communicate directly with the victim (direct messages in Telegram or Facebook, ...) In public chats the probability is much too high that someone reads along and immediately warns of a fraud attempt. It is therefore much more difficult for the attacker to succeed there. A mod could have prevented therefore I think very little

The number is not from me but from the linked article. Probably there were several addresses in circulation here, I know someone personally who lost several thousand Euros of Bitcoin in this scam attempt ![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif)

Unfortunately several players have fallen victim to this scam recently. While the story the scammer tells the victim varies, the scam always revolves around the scammer setting the recovery email address on an account shared with the victim without the victim noticing. The victim changes the account's password thinking they are safe, but if they fail to notice the changed recovery email address the attacker can simply reset the account's password and gain access to it this way later. To make it harder to overlook that your account's recovery email address has been changed, the current recovery email address is now shown after you change your account's password. I will also add a warning message that needs to be dismissed before being able to chat with a new friend in the next patch. However, while I try to protect bustabit's players from scams as best as I can, ultimately it's up to the individual. Please take the warnings shown on bustabit seriously: - Never reveal your account's password to anyone.
- Don't use an account provided to you by someone else.
- Avoid making deals with anyone in bustabit's chat. bustabit is not a trading site and doesn't attempt to provide a safe trading environment.

Excellent post. It is not just newbies who are susceptible to this type of scam, seasoned professionals can also have a lapse of concentration and lower their guard. thanks for your heads up. this could be a real danger for newbies who wants to play to bustabit do you mind may i ask where did you find the website? we should be really careful and check mostly all the things before opening websites that we thought safe but turns out to be a fake one. It is obvious that when something gets super famous, people try to take advantage of that, and when a scam gets so famous that the scammers make money, other scammers sees this and they try to get part of the deal as well and soon you have a lot of scammers trying to steal money. Obviously this is not a good thing for neither the website nor the users, however if you are smart enough you can't get scammed. In order for you to get scammed, you have to send someone money, if you do not send anyone money, you are not going to get scammed at all, how could you get scammed if you do not send money to anyone and it stays in your wallet, how could you ever get scammed? So just deposit here, make sure you are here and not some phishing website, and if you are not sure add to favorites, and gamble here, do not do anything else.

This is what we call "Social Engineering" convincing someone and manipulating them into the path that the one that executes wants. This is effective on all casinos out there especially if your casino has a private message feature, Doing this on all chat makes the method low chance of success because everyone can warn the possible victim. As JollyGood said, Don't lower your guard, especially if you are conversing with some random people.

A Bustabit user named “WangTang_V2” just made a MASSIVE 109 BTC bet (~$1,300,000 USD) with a successful cashout at 1.02x. The win paid the user 2.18 BTC (~$22,600 USD).
