This is absolutely correct. There are many coins in the top 100 that currently should be worth nothing. Verge and Tron spring to mind immediately - both are 100% scams, yet still idiots buy them. The majority of ICOs and new coins coming out are scams, designed only to make the developer some fast and easy money. They will all be worth nothing in the long term.

If you are thinking of investing for the long term, then the safest thing to do is invest in coins with finished working products, real world uses, and major partnerships. Coins like ETH, NEO, XMR, VEN, ICX, OMG, XRB.

TRON certainly isn't a scam. The team is still actively working on the project.

They have a couple of missteps at the beginning with focusing too much with promoting their project that they were excited about + badly translated white paper that left out many details of the original, including making sure to include references to parts taken from other whitepapers (hence the FUD of plagiarism) -- which is a very good thing for me, as I do see long-term potential in this ambitious project, and have picked up some TRX since it had hit rock bottom. Wink

The team now have learnt their lesson and are just focusing to develop TRON and aggressively push for adoption. They are still very active if you search up what they are doing now.
Believe in the project or not, they certainly are not a scam.

You have to choose a potential coin because not all coins have good potential. Study it first before making a choice.

Definitely must altcoins that start some years ago some of those altcoins are dead already, mind you  this is not because of the stupid prediction made. Fault mainly comes from the dev team.

It could be possible as many altcoins created everyday and it happens that developers also won't take any concerns from their coins and just left outside. This events may usually happen to low volume coins which investors can't take to invest with and it could be somewhat to feel that it is already dead especially when we look at their market history it's not even moving.

Who believes in CNBC anyways? If you are monitoring coinmarketcap you will notice that there is no such thing as zero dollar cryptocurrency. Trading sites will delist a cryptocurrency but still there is no such thing as buying or selling crypto at zero dollars. That's the highest level of stupidity.

As quoted from CNBC there is a cryptocurrency will be zero.

What do you think?

Have you seen who did this research? who did the research was Goldman Sachs,

Quote

-Most cryptocurrencies are likely to fail with their value falling to zero, Goldman Sachs said in a note.
-The investment bank compared the current market to the "internet bubble of the late 1990s."
-Steve Strongin, head of Goldman Sachs global investment research, said that most cryptocurrencies are unlikely to see their recent peaks again.

in October of last year they said:

Quote
Cryptocurrencies like bitcoin are not the "new gold," Goldman Sachs said in a note, advising investors that precious metals "remain a relevant asset class" in portfolios.

they support gold and other metals, bitcoin is a big obstacle to their business, do you think they will praise bitcoin and altcoins? of course not! so do not take what they say seriously, because neither can they be sure of the predictions they are making

"Gold wins out over cryptocurrencies in a majority of the key characteristics of money,"
Goldman said.

He said "most" crypto, he didn't mention bitcoin.

Ok, I missed to consider this part, but there is no need to be a banker to know most cryptocurrencies won't survive... Just look at the name used for some, I mean seriously who is going to trust the project in the long run. Everyone wants to make his own cryptos but add nothing new to the table, or not so much...

I previously thought that was BS and FUD by the media but now as I learn more about cryptos and what is useful it seems to me that is true. Not sure how many coins will be obsolete but looking at the market now perhaps 100 coins would remain.

This is true because MOST CRYPTOS are scam and just a rehash of bitcoin or ethereum and should be avoided. Those are just pump and dump coins. This is different from bitcoin, or ethereum or any other crypto that has actual use and functions. They will survive and will have real value.

But if you just read it without analyzing, this kind of thread becomes FUD thread just because if someone says crypto, it automatically relates to bitcoin and that is a bad thing.

I still have a strong belief in the good altcoin on the market as its management team is day by day building on the true value of their coin. Do not be too pessimistic about the future of coin when you are investing in this market. I believe that the market will develop very well in the future and the altcoin really potential will flourish.

"Should have"? According to who? According to technical analysis this is a completely healthy correction. It couldn't go parabolic forever. Relax and wait it out, the tide will rise once again.

there are more than 1500 coins and when we analyze the majority of them they are not quality projects and just pump and dump coins, if he targets this coins than I would agree with him otherwise there are so original projects that may overtake so many businesses in the real world.

100% most cryptocurrencies will crash that's a FACT! Andreas Antonopoulos himself has stated this many times.  In fact he tells people all of the time that he isn't sure Bitcoin will be around in the end by any means!  What he's sure of and what I am sure of is that Crytpocurrency is here to stay!

Let's keep in mind that most cryptocurrency coins are built with no sound plan and were created as a payment system like Bitcoin.  Bitcoin and it's blockchain platform can always be updated and in my mind Bitcoin has already beat out all other payment systems (take a look at the LN network if you are worried about Bitcoin as a payment medium).  I want to invest in coins like ADA and IOTA that have real world uses outside of needing to be connected to Bitcoin.

This is very much like the dot.com craze but lets not forget that websites now run the entire world and some of those websites became global giants and still thrive today.  Most will die, but some will remain and prosper.

If it is true then it is good to hold and but some coins again. Devaluation is somehow a bad effect for those who hold a lot of cryptocurrency. But if you don't care with your investment then you don't scared of what will become a tragedy in cryptocurrency.
Let's just bear in our mind that it was made without value and it ends up with no value also.

Well, you need to give us a period of time that it will take for it to crash to zero. But yes, most coins will EVENTUALLY crash to zero when they are perceived to have no value. However, a few coins will succeed and remain top-tier for many years, if not, decades.

Since Goldman Sach is behind this news ,i would like to argue against all the things that they say because that is the only thing they are telling for some time and they do not have any other news to be in the headlines, there are several coins that might vanish in the future, there are many shady coins in the market ,which are meant for only pump and dump and with the regulations coming into the industry ,i hope it will be really hard in the future to make these sort of manipulation.

Yes those coins will crash into zero because most of the coins has no value in the market. It means they are not in demand because the value of every cryptocurrency are always depends on the market. Coins with no value has no demand and time will come this coins will vanish.

Actually this is true, most tokens have no value but I think it will happen in the future not now. Most are in bubble, because majority of people buy them at the beginning without any success.
They are mostly altcoins. Actually people are trying to saturate the market by developing so many new altcoins. But definitely the population don’t request for other coins as they have sufficient number of coins right now. So, whosoever are developing new coins and thinking that this particular coin will stand in the market, I think they are on wrong path, they must understand the need of population.
