how could I get it to run?
Run it as root (sudo ./cgminer ...), or better  change permissions of /dev/hidraw* (chmod 666 /dev/hidraw*).

nice setup man Smiley

i just got the 5 i ordered today,
found out some of the fans i had in storage aint working.
so i got all 5 running hooked up to a tiny little 80mm fan untill i can get some more.

getting them running in win8 with the oracle virtualbox was pretty ez, getting about 2.8ghs from each atm. might play around with oc etc.
but i think ill wait for some cooling to arrive, i dont want to come home from work and find the house burnt down x)

I see heatsink at the chip. If you want to increase the voltage and hashrate more, then I recommend to remove a protective layer on the opposite side of card "behid chip" and put another heatsink. I think it's more important than the heatsink on the plastic body of chip.

my 3 "old" board have a heatsink atthe chip, the 7 new board don't have a heatsink. For now I won't modify these boards. Maybe I order an extra spare one to experiment with.

Thanks for your tip, but one question about it

What do you mean by a protective layer on the opposite side of card "behid chip" ? Is there are plastic something/sticker between the heatsink and chip? I assumed they use a special (cooling)paste to keep the heatsink attached to the chip, not some kind of sticker.

I will check it this evening.

I scraped off green protective coating at small square and glowed heatsink by 3M Thermal Heatsink Tape.
I think that my heatsink is too BIG for this card but i don't have smaller one Smiley

did you attach the (extra) heatsink because overclocked the board? if so, how did you do that? hardware mod? voltage setting on the board? software tweak? What hashrate do they run?

just curious  Grin

Yes

Turn to '+' - increase voltage -> increase speed.
Turn to '-' -  decrease voltage -> decrease speed.
Vcc - points for voltage check.

Quote
voltage setting on the board?
0.95V is original settings. 1.05 (!!!not recommended by manufacturer) is my settings.

How do you know when you run 1.05v? Do i have to check it with a voltage meter, or is there a software tool for it?

Here is my little setup btw

Only one card isn't working....no response from it while others are working fine.

Your tower kicks ass !

You must use a voltage meter to check the voltage, see the pic from XBOCT how to measure

Does anybody know how much current one of those miners draws at 5V? If it's below 500mA maybe you can power it by usb ...

According to OP you can run them @5V:

...
  • Wide range of operating voltage (5v to 15v). Optimal is 12v.
