like many forks, I wonder what its use is. apart from gaining a few coins without doing anything, I really don't see what it brings more than monero. Well, I may be wrong, but I'm skeptical.

HitBTC claiming they'll support a fork means there is about 50% chance they'll really support. (From my own experience of not receiving the HitBTC-supported forks of Ignis, LBTC, & B2X) good luck to us with hitbtc!

In addition, MoneroV will implement new protocols that will solve the scaling problems facing Monero and other cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin. Which protocols? Why you not damed and didnt get full details? Monero and Bitcoin have different protocols.

There's lots of reasons to the fork as one might see from actually reading the roadmap paper?

I am not as thrilled specifically about any exchange as I am keeping all coins locally. This just means that MoneroV will be distributed to many people which is a great start for any successful fork event!

Is there any clarity on these spam accusations that have been filed?
What are you talking about? I have read other user's commenting that this fork is just to steal your private keys and your monero Aside from the really suspicious airdrop, then it comes to this: You can clearly see from this picture, which is from this article: https://www.newsbtc.com/2018/03/01/monero-hard-forks-to-monerov-in-mid-march/They have hired bots to spread how "awesome" is this "new coin". I wouldn't touch MoneroV with a 10 meter stick. yeeah from the first words obviously hiring bots. such a shame and here no feedback from admin about this inf(

There is a concern by the Monero team that the fork can compromise the privacy of its user. See: https://monero.stackexchange.com/questions/7608/what-is-monerov-and-how-is-it-different-than-moneroPrivacy isn't an issue to me, since I am only investing into XMR as a speculative coin to hopefully make some profit to pay off my student debt when the cryptos market become bullish again! XD But if it is such a big issue for them couldn't Monero consider making their code/network unforkable like how NEO do? Perhaps MoneroV should consider a strategy to upgrade how the ring-signature work such that even if it is being forked, the privacy wouldn't become compromised? That would then put XMV a further step above Monero! And secondly, the MoneroV team should modify the code in such a way that replay attacks (e.g. sending coin in one network could trigger the sending of coins in the other, just like the problem BTC/BCH and ETH/ETC has) is avoided (perhaps by appending an additional character/indicator in front of the addresses sent out from the MoneroV network, like adding a V at the end of every address, etc). I really hope this project will succeed, and I am looking forward to the lite-wallet where I do NOT have to download the whole blockchain! = Also if you guys are to implement a built-in miner for your wallet, hopefully you could do something different from the other PoWs cryptos, where the payout is base on the work put in (i.e. total hashing power contributed) rather than finding a block. That way everyone is part of a single mega-pool where so long as you participate to contribute your CPU/GPU resources to securing the network, you will get a % of the pie. A further upgrade would be to disable GPU mining, and rely on a much wider number of people participating in low-hash rate CPU mining, so as to do away with any centralised entity talking over as a mining whale dominating the whole network. If any of the popular exchanges or online wallet supports the fork than it would be easier and safer to place all my monero and claim the forked coin. But if supported is not announced than I'm out of this.
They have already released news about 2 exchanges suppourting - Ovis & BTC-alpha. https://twitter.com/monero_vIt's not hitbtc yet, but a good start. These exchanges have HUGE Monero volume (TOP 20). There is also support from Freewallet. It's actually safer to claim and hold locally. You cannot 'loose' anything to anyone if you practice safe forking like written on the official MoneroV website - "How can I safely participate in the fork? 1. Hold XMR locally as you would at the time of the snapshot. 2. Wait for the official open-source MoneroV wallet announcement. 3. Download the MoneroV wallet ONLY from the official website or Github repo. 4. Extract XMV using the official wallet anytime in the future. NOTE: You can extract the XMV from an empty/altered wallet that had XMR at the time of the snapshot. Meaning you can send your XMR to another wallet prior to extracting XMV." So Obis and BTC-alpha announced that they will support the fork? I have never ever heard about them. Are they trustworthy?

I own monero stored on mymonero web wallet
Should I transfert them to the official offline wallet before the forks or could I claim my xmv using mymonero as xmr wallet ?

Will fractions of a Monero receive the airdrop as well? For example, will 0.5 XMR get 5 XMV, or an integer number of XMR is needed?

Yes, all they're doing is changing how it's displayed.

Another useless fork of some coin, why people still doping this? Look on forks of bitcoins, how many are really used?

Yes this is something you can see answered on the FAQ and homepage- https://monerov.org/updates/"How does the distribution of XMV work? Holders of Monero at the snapshot block will be owners of the new MoneroV coin and will receive 10 times the Monero amount as MoneroV coins (XMV). For example, if you hold 1 Monero coin (XMR) prior to the fork, you will own 10 MoneroV after the fork. The same is true for partial Monero amount. Holding 0.5 XMR will grant you 5 XMV."

HitBTC has done good move to support this hard fork. I hope Poloniex, BitfFinex, Exmo, and Bittrex follow.
