if you are not interested in trading or studying other coins it is better to invest in bitcoin but if you have a lot of time studying a coin then buying ICO coins is a pretty good choice.

I would suggest, whatever amount you have got to invest, invest 30% of that amount in bitcoin and rest of the 70% amount you can invest in existing altcoins or new ICOs.
There are many good genuine projects out there which will revolutionalise their technology using benefits of blockchain technology. Also few projects(example MultiVAC) are building own blockchain technology with new thinking resolving blockchain trilemma. This will definitely bring new era in this market.
