Well, congratulations to everyone who owns IXC and will be rich. Unfortunately I'm poor and I don't have a single coin, but I'll be rooting for you to make the rat revolution. Cool

I can't believe how lucky I am to be so rich now that bankers will be paying me 1k for each coin. Can you let them know I am RWA to sell at a discount once they pm me here to organise payment.I will even let Vlad be the escrow ;-)

He’s in.  How many ixc are you pledging to sell at $1k?  Why don’t more people join telegram.  Yesterday was a war zone.  Haha.  Funny to watch.

I have 800 ixcoins in total. When do we get to sell at 1k boss?

Cornhole all ready to abandon ship like a rat before the real babylonian money magick begins. Donate some of that schweet corn to the son of a poor widow cornhole. Living like a bum after my fall from glory and having to endure the company of these peasants who don't know the difference between an old master and grandmaster. I try my best educate them on eating healthy from the the finest dumpsters outside only the finest establishments but the peasants are too apathetic and lazy to shop around even when it's free. I tell you when I get my titles and castles back I will not be inviting these common peasants in case they put their feet up on my table. Only the wise and humble will sit at my table to be fed while the woke dogs and metaverse fools are put to work in the garden reaping the harvest for my deserving guests to eat Cry

I can guarantee you all the rats will jump ship if ixcoin reaches 1k.Do you want to buy mine now for 500 usd each?

cornhole is getting desperate. He has dropped from 1k to 500 usd at the drop of a hat. A true rat ready to dump at the mere whiff of a new lambos interior. Soon he/she/it will be bargaining at an agreeable price.

I wouldn't waste money on a lambo.I prefer to help people and creatures less fortunate than myself and I am far from being rich enough to waste money on useless material goods.More money to me only means more food, water, shelter, heat, medical care so I wouldn't be the worst "rat" out there ;-)

I downloaded the IXC wallet to support the network. It would be interesting if there were more activities for IXC, unfortunately my power is small and I can't do much.

Very little any of us can do when we are poor ourselves.Plenty of bitcoin whales out there who can afford to pay for development and whatever but bitcoin hodlrs are the meanest most miserable form of humanity on the face of the earth.

Dunno about "paying for development" since among the family of coins merged-mined alongside BiTCoin it was traditionally supposed to be DeVCoin whose focus was supporting the development of free open-source software.

So the Ixians have been focussed more on actually building a presence within the open-source metaverse that DeVCoin is supposed to be supporting the development side of.

I am not sure why we don't seem to see the Ixians officially represented on the Galactic Diplomacy planet, maybe because they want to launch an official Civilisation first or maybe at least partly because the Crossfire RPG window into the metaverse is less easily scripted than for example the CoffeeMUD interface thus not so obviously amenable to "CPU mining" / "play to earn" type automated earning of resources with which to build up their presence and accumulate "reserve assets" for the IXCoin treasury.

For many years though a character named "Ix" has been on the fantasy-milieu side of the CrossCiv server offering to buy and sell stuff for IXCoins. Maybe he or she found that to be lonely-enough work that they have not bothered with the Sci-Fi milieu side of it or maybe just haven't bothered to bring attention to whatever characters they might have on that side as being repsentatives of Ix / Ixians / IXCoin.

I do know that at first (meaning over a decade ago now) they had been holding back a while from the Civilisations aspect of the metaverse hoping that DeVCoin would do well enough to go beyond merely supporting key software such as FreeCiv to the point of actually getting new civilisations added (that is, to get a Galactic Modpack, including graphics thus able to implement entire new nations, rather than just a Ruleset as in just the text-file config files) so they could have the nation of Ix as in the DUNE mythos and try to make technology their "thing" like the Ixians in the DUNEverse did.

They also raised enough resources in the CoffeeMUD side of things to create themselves a clan, marrying with the Darlings to test out the type of clan called a "family". Breeding has been slow so the Ixian family is still rather small, though pregnancies are progressing.

http://MUDgaard.knotwork.com:27744/clans.cmvp#Ixians

The clan has taken over a town and built themselves a custom clanhouse, but isn't particularly rich because they have been researching future products rather than simply maximising their production of easy standard fare such as metals, stone, and foodstuffs.

Specifically they co-ordinated with the Darlings to tool up for soap production, only to discover that the version of CoffeeMUD in use at the time was producing soap of zero pounds weight, which is not practical for real use. They continue to stockpile ingredients though in hopes that a future version will yield workable soap. They expect everyone to be wanting soap because at least in theory it should make the process of bathing faster, and all worker characters need to bathe regularly as part of their scripted work schedules. Less time spent bathing should mean more time available for mining, gem-digging, foraging, farming, smithing, cooking or whatever other productive activities characters have scripted.

So yeah there are plenty of activities available. Check out what artisans can do: http://MUDgaard.knotwork.com:27744/classes.cmvp?CLASS=Artisan

Unfortunately however it turned out that running Artisans in the CoffeeMUD is so massively lucrative that it did not take long before the ability to just start up a player-account there for free had to be closed. Maybe with a bit of research, which can be done for free by playing any of the many free CoffeeMUD instances that exist, you could help come up with some reasonable ideas about how best to limit the addition of new players and/or how much it would be reasonable to charge for a player-account either as a one-shot purchase or as a yearly subscription in order to avoid having millions of players join and earn billions of coins of various types maybe without even covering the bandwidth and server costs of running servers...

Ixcoin is a fork of Bitcoin with twice the inflation rate of Bitcoin and the same 21 million total limit.
Ixcoin is intended to closely mirror code updates to Bitcoin to allow for easy interoperability with Bitcoin-related third party services and APIs.

iXcoin (IXC) is the second oldest alt-coin, launched 10 days after Namecoin. iXcoin is a clone of Bitcoin, the only identical Bitcoin Twin in existence, fully matured and fully distributed, low cost P2p network to offer irreversible, low cost, highly scalable transactions. IXC an open source & decentralized digital currency,

How does Ixcoin differ from Bitcoin?

Ixcoin is merge mined with Bitcoin
http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/273/how-does-merged-mining-work

Shorter maturity period
All Ixcoins were been generated by  Oct 2014. Mining relies solely on transaction fees now. Ixcoin reached it's maturity  ~18 years before Bitcoin's.

New blockchain
Although Bitcoin's blockchain is in the same format as Ixcoin's, they use different genesis blocks and have a different reward scheme. So Bitcoins will not be valid in the Ixcoin blockchain and vice-versa.

Different default ports
Bitcoin's operating port 8332 is now 8337 with Ixcoin.
Bitcoin's RPC server port 8333 is now 8338 with Ixcoin.

New key format
Wallet public keys now start with the letter x instead of the number 1 for Bitcoins.

FAQ FROM THE ORIGINAL WEBSITE IXCOIN.ORG with links updated

P2P Virtual Currency
Ixcoin is a peer-to-peer currency based on Bitcoin with a shorter maturity. Peer-to-peer means that no central authority issues new money or tracks transactions. These tasks are managed collectively by the network which currently secures Ixcoin with 10 PetaHash/s. Ixcoin is the first Bitcoin clone or Alternative chain, created in May 2011 just a few weeks after the distributed DNS Namecoin. Today, there exists many Bitcoin clones.

General
What is Ixcoin?

Ixcoin is an open source digital currency, based on the cryptocurrency Bitcoin, which is distributed over a peer-to-peer network to offer irreversible, low-cost, anonymous and decentralized monetary transactions. Ixcoin is the first Bitcoin clone or Alternative chain, created in May 2011 just a few weeks after the distributed DNS Namecoin. Today, there exists many Bitcoin clones.

Ixcoins are the unit of currency of the Ixcoin system. Similarly to Bitcoin's BTC, a commonly used shorthand for this is “IXC” to refer to a price or amount (eg: “100 IXC”). An Ixcoin isn't tangible. It is just a number associated with a Ixcoin Address, which is a string of 33 numbers and letters which begin with the letter x such as xa9jpgHugb2pTCpzoZcDdiHKepy8mjpddX. See also an easy intro to bitcoin.

How does Ixcoin differ from Bitcoin?

Shorter maturity period

There are currently ~11M (as of June 2013) in existence and it is expected that all 21 million Bitcoins will have been generated by 2033. Whereas all 21 million Ixcoins are available now in 2015. This is because 16*6=96 IXC were created per new block, instead of 50 BTC in Bitcoin.

Ixcoin maturity will be reached ~18 years before Bitcoin's. By mid-2013, the number of IXC and BTC will reach parity (for a brief moment).

New blockchain

Although Bitcoin's blockchain is in the same format as Ixcoin's, they use different genesis blocks and have a different reward scheme. So Bitcoins will not be valid in the Ixcoin blockchain and vice-versa.

Different default ports

Bitcoin's operating port 8333 is changed to 8337 with Ixcoin.

Bitcoin's RPC server port 8332 is defaulted to 8338 in Ixcoin.

Merged Mining

Ixcoin implemented merge mining with Bitcoin in 2012. Merge mining allows a Bitcoin miner to mine for more than one block chain at the same time. The benefit is that every hash the miner does contributes to the total hash rate of both (all) currencies, and as a result they are all more secure.

New key format

Wallet public keys now start with the letter x instead of the number 1 as in Bitcoins:

Bitcoin wallet key

    175tWpb8K1S7NmH4Zx6rewF9WQrcZv245W

Ixcoin wallet key

    x75tWpb8K1S7NmH4Zx6rewF9WQrcZv245W

Where is my wallet stored in Ixcoin?

Your Ixcoin wallet is stored in the Ixcoin data directory. This is the same location format as with Bitcoin and will typically be of the form:

    Windows XP C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Application data\IxCoin

    Windows Vista/7 C:\Users\YourUserName\Appdata\Roaming\IxCoin

    Linux ~/.ixcoin/

    Mac ~/Library/Application Support/Ixcoin/

Can I use my bitcoin.conf and bitcoin.pid with Ixcoin?

Yes. Just rename them respectively to ixcoin.conf and ixcoin.pid and move them to your system's wallet directory (see above). Alternatively, use the command switches -conf=<file> and -pid=<file> respectively to point to your custom bitcoin.conf and bitcoin.pid files.
Are there any other differences between Ixcoin and Bitcoin?

Apart from those listed above, Ixcoin is a direct fork of the original Bitcoin source code. The goal is for Ixcoin to mirror Bitcoin's code exactly (apart from listed differences) in the future.

Note that dnsseeds are disabled by default in the build until an Ixcoin DNS seed formed.

How many Ixcoins will there be?

21 million Ixcoins, just like Bitcoin. But Ixcoin will reach full maturity ~18 years before Bitcoin.

Can I run both Ixcoin and Bitcoin at the same time?

Yes. Both clients can run side-by-side.

Are Bitcoin client clones compatible with Ixcoin?

Most Bitcoin client clones will need minor modifications to work with Ixcoin such as changing the operating port to 8337, altering the blockchain verification code if any and changing the address generation algorithm.

Can I use my Bitcoins as Ixcoins?

No. Bitcoins have the same relationship to Ixcoin as they have to any other currency (e.g. USD, GBP). You would need to exchange/convert them for valid Ixcoins first via an exchanger service.

Are my Bitcoin addresses compatible with Ixcoin?

No. Your Bitcoin addresses/keypairs will not be recognized by the Ixcoin blockchain, so although they might work they will not point to valid Bitcoins (and vice-versa).

You will need to either mine Ixcoins or use an exchanger to convert fiat currency or Bitcoins for Ixcoins.

How do I convert my Bitcoins to Ixcoins?

Via an exchanger that will buy/sell bitcoins for Ixcoins and vice-versa, such as Cryptopia , Yobit , CoinExchange

How do I mine Ixcoins?

As of October 2014 mining is complete but the blockchain can still send coins because of merged mining with bitcoin. However, from block 450,000 an hard fork (0.14.1) will allow the distribution to miners of all the premine.

What is value of a Ixcoin?

Like Bitcoins and other currencies, the current spot value of a Ixcoin with regards to other denominations will likely vary depending on supply and demand.

Where can I download Ixcoin source code?

Please go to https://github.com/IXCore/IXCoin/releases

Where can I download precompiled Ixcoin client?

https://github.com/IXCore/IXCoin/releases

What license if Ixcoin distributed under?

Under the MIT License, like Bitcoin

What does the Ixcoin version number mean?

Ixcoin will keep the same version naming convention as the Bitcoin releases. Therefore version 0.14.1 of Ixcoin corresponds to a modified version of Bitcoin release 0.14.1. The intend is to keep Ixcoin tailing any new updates to Bitcoin.

Who owns Ixcoin?

Everybody. You are welcome to submit code to the https://github.com/IXCore/IXCoin/releases which the community members in the https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1616394.0 will vote to include or not in the next release of Ixcoin. However, Ixcoin is intended to closely mirror code updates to Bitcoin (except for differences previously outlined) to allow for easy interoperability with Bitcoin-related third party services and APIs.

Who created Ixcoin?

The Ixcoin fork of Bitcoin was created by Thomas Nasakioto in May 2011.

Is it profitable to mine Ixcoin?

With merged mining, little extra work is necessary to mine Ixcoin alongside Bitcoin which benefits both chains and increases rewards.

Will Ixcoin replace Bitcoin?

Ixcoin will exist in parallel to Bitcoin, just like multiple currencies coexist today. Exchanges will enable BTC/IXC conversions and the market will determine the value of each.

Where can I find out more about Ixcoin?

Since most Bitcoin-related material also applies to Ixcoin, please refer to the Bitcoin Wiki for more information. For current events contact the growing community of developers and board members of the Ixcoin Project.

Dear IxCoin community,

It's been about 2 months since launched the new IxCoin website: https://ixc.devcoin.org (announced here) and @markm explained the relevance of IXC for the Galactic Millieu (GM) which in turn is a key project for the Devcoin Foundation (DF). As head of such organization I'm concerned about the future of IXC, since it is already an important component of an ecosystem carefully designed by markm and one a valuable type of asset in DF's custody.

What we find currently (and correct me if I'm wrong):

1. No development has been performed since Sept 2015 (only updates to text files)
2. There isn't any form of organization supporting the project
3. The website is outdated (DF is on charge of hosting only)
4. There is only one working exchange, hopefully with some liquidity, yet with low volume

I can't help with number 4, I suck at trading and market making! What I can help with is with 1, 2 and 3. My contributions to the Devcoin project since 2014 vary from reorganizing leadership, community management (recently delegated to @realdantreccia), taking care of main website, maintaining the code base and recently upgrading it from a Bitcoin 0.8.x base to the latest Bitcoin 22.x (and 23.x coming soon), all while holding the weight of an Admiral role (yeah, the one blamed for everything). If you consider that such a background deserve any vote of trust and that I have the potential to make any positive impact for YOUR project, then please let me know your insight here in this forum.

I'm listening.

Of course I support whatever you choose to do with any merge mined currency. IXC will have its day. But Vlad's obnoxious game theory is something I choose to ignore. He's doing a great job turning the flakier types off IXC. I still think Ixcoin matters and merge mining is severely misunderstood. And if you think you understand it still, from my perspective you don't. IXC and I0C are like TBX and FBX, except BTC came before them allegedly, and LTC came after TBX and FBX. In the end I think the math will pay off and compatibility will moved across merge mined chains. If you really wanna get a good grasp on merge mining and the future for chains that have trouble propagating blocks due to running out of chaumian/hash cash minted PoW "coins" (chains of electronic signatures) of which IXC doesn't have many because of its blank blocks (rewards only) we still have to consider at some point there was a hey day here like for all merge mined originals. Bountys of BTC were traded for IXC. Bitcoin gained its value forward for what it was traded for in its growth. We're doing it different until our day comes, but just be patient. The Gamemaster is the master hand. MarkM might see him in the mirror occassionally. The projects that don't update much or have a silent community compared to before is just imo some good game theory. Some chains are right where they need to be, some just need to be pulled into a bitDNS described merkle tree that merges both chains txns into a master merkle hash like Satoshi described merge mining back in 2010. Then we also need to realize projects like Ripple exist on places that by acquisition and FILE storage (which is pretty much the same deal if they come from NNTP servers themselves) extend certain social networks (which will be the next place payments route thru and accrue value) go back to 1980!!! Spoiler alert, Linus Torvalds began Kernel development in school before the WWW and on that very network and system USENET. He would put his code to a newsgroup and people would contribute, and the Kernel was born. Open Source projects and remote work submission is STILL imperfect, like our blockchains, but we could be as simple as 1 LOC from it all working, or 1 merged blockchain that began in separate repositories and can make one big blockchain with all txns necessary valid, hell... What's stopping BITCOIN from adding merge mining Wink A good podcast that's mentioned in... https://www.audacy.com/podcasts/the-sovereign-bitcoin-podcast-with-juan-galt-21792/namecoin-satoshis-second-coin-with-jeremy-rand-2536433

BTW Galactic Milieu has been going on since Web 1. THAT is gonna be one hell of a a metaverse Wink

Vlad, nor his IP logged forum socks matter to IXC until he starts respecting other people again.

You're lucky develCuy wanted to take up IXC himself. He can actually code, troubleshoot with the community, and build working software.

Not trying to be a dick, but if this is another sock just get a life. No one cares about you Vlad. You act like a maniac. Get some help and then come back to the community. No one has "I was here first" rights in Ixcoin. Just like Satoshi left Bitcoin to the world, you should consider building a community of inclusive and forward thinking people.

But IXC will be fine. It's merge mined with Bitcoin. That's just a matter of patience and understanding protocol and different version control patches, software forks, chain forks, community consensus, protocol consensus, etc. etc.

You have my vote sir.Maybe start a poll or if you can't on this thread open a thread just for a poll on any proposals so we can vote.IXC could be a great coin if the community grows a bit and gets more active on the thread.

You don't have to go anywhere. You were the one bringing up Vlad and to build a community means remove the cancer. He isn't worth talking about at this point.

The beauty of open source, let him make an unofficial build, see if you like it - go from there?

sidhujag did that with Devcoin v 0.8.5.1-beta and it ended up being used for years on devcoin.org.

80% of people in IXC are here because of Vlad. He's been telling everyone about it for YEARS and you say he doesn't matter?

I agree with this. I'm OK with DevelCuy working on the code.
You guys should join the Ixcoin telegram group and discuss it there also.
