I would also like to throw out there that mine has been rock solid... and only got better when I changed from the Arctic II with just pads to the H60 with pads and the already layered paste on the block... went from ~31 GH/s to an easy 33-35 depending on ambient... been a weird winter around my parts...

Hi,

I have more Chilis - any idea why on one board Windows is getting "unknown device"? Finally the Chili never get detected as COM.
The website with the FTDI-drivers is too offline:  http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm - so maybe someone can share them.

Thanks for your help!

I just compiled cgminer 4.0.0 on Ubuntu 13.10 and now my chili is no longer being detected. Is there something new with the configuration, or did I just miss a switch when I compiled it?

4.0.0 precompiled binaries work for me, so I'd guess it was a compile problem.

Did it just recently start this? Try uninstalling the unknown device in Windows and then plugging it back in.

Yes - somehow it wasn`t hashing any more & I couldn`t get it back hashing. Wanted then flash a new firmware as this helped at one board but it was just recognized as "unknown device" with some Windows driver loaded. After try 100 different solutions (with delete driver, deactive, recycle, ....) today I wasn´t able finally to get it back. Funny & frustrating together as it was working everything good for weeks now with that board.

I plugged in too other boards & all are recognizing except this one. Any idea left?

Thanks Mr. Teal!

Not sure. PM me the serial number on the sticker on the top of the board.

Blown FTDI? I wonder because I have a jally here with a perfectly good FTDI chip but it's not talking to anything. Weird...

It`s a board of Lucko (are there too stickers on it??) - I have to look later when I am back at the mining dc.
I was thinking about the same that the chip could have be damaged but want to ask first in this thread. Could this be chip be replaced or somehow repaired?

About how much power have people had their Chilis drawing? I think I saw 180-200W each but I don't recall the specifics. I'm asking because my 700W (552 on the 12V) PSU that has been powering 2 Chilis faithfully for several months now seems to only want to run one. If I plug both in they'll hash for probably 30 seconds then everything dies and I have to wait a bit and play with the plugs to get things back on.

The other reason I'm leaning towards a PSU issue is that when I had both running they'd average 36-37. Just the one running is now breaking 39 which I'm sure requires more juice. Thanks in advance!

even the best psu will fail if pushed to 80% of its rating for 24/7
so this would indicate your unit has an absolute max of 440w usable.

I have chilis here drawing 220w at 38Gh, so I think you have been maxing out for some time.

That makes sense. I was curious about the draw because there seem to be several people running 2 chilis off a single 500W PSU. Guess I need to do some shopping.

What's the model of PSU? Some that are group regulated have issues with crossloads (all the current being drawn on 12V and none on 5V), and if it's a multiple rail supply that could be an issue as well.

OCZ ModXStream Pro 700W

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341018

I've been running 2 off it for about 2 months straight now. I've got one of the Molex plugs going to a fan splitter to run 2 case fans but there isn't any other draw on it besides the chilis and the fans.

Running 750 watt Corsairs here at 700 watts with no problems, so I think a good supply makes a difference.

Then again I ran it at 800+ for a few days, so a really good power supply makes a difference.

I've been running 2 off of this for couple of months. @750w, sounds like maybe the same Corsairs.

No other draw - zero problems. ymmv

I have a Corsair VX550 (its 7 years old) driving 2 chili very comfortably.
Alongside is my EVO labs 600w that can only support 1 chili.

Cheap PSU's will always loose in the end.

Well apparently there was a power outage over the weekend that I wasn't aware of. Perhaps that has something to do with the issues. Either way on a whim I shut everything down and plugged the second Chili back in and for the past 45 minutes now they've both been cruising. I do find it interesting that when I was just running 1 it ran about 3GH/s faster though. Will they dynamically adjust their speed in response to a power shortage? Or to put it another way - is it possible/likely that the Chilis have the ability to run at a slower speed if they sense they aren't getting enough juice to really push things?

It shouldn't be a heat issue - one is air cooled and the other is water cooled and they're positioned in such a way that they shouldn't be sharing any warm air.

My chili's at 38Gh draw 220watts
The bottom end units run at 33Gh draw 180watts

one with defective engines runs at 23Gh and 140watts.

If you are getting 39Gh then all your chips are good ones and running at top speed, (the power draw will be a lot higher than 220w)

The chili's will run anywhere between 23gh and 40gh depending on the power available. The voltage will regulate to meet this level.

Much below 23gh the power supply stays below its critical voltage and will crash.
