I try to prove Salon.com article to be factual using articles mostly written by people who tagged themselves as being feminists. If you believe Salon.com was wrong share your position with us...

I am on the verge of moving to a non-hate position regarding feminists; if in fact they uniformly advocate pink tool sets, as such would never be touched by men, even at the risk of divorce or separation. Women who proudly bought their pink tools then have no option except to do massive work with their pink tools on their own, with corresponding increases in beer drinking and football game watching time for men. Oh, by the way. Those pink tools in that kit? They look like really poor quality and poorly designed things that will break or slip at the times you need them most. I'll stick with Easterling hammers, Klein screwdrivers, thank you.

By the kind of "reasoning" I've seen in this thread, I could grab a few posts from BCT and claim as accurately that everyone who has any Bitcoin at all is a child molester, who huffs jenkem while shooting krokodil and ordering mass murders from assassination sites, runs a Ponzi scheme and an illegal and rigged gambling site, and is also, worst of all, an adult male fan of My Little Pony.
This is what Bitcoin actually believes.

Does a collection of uncompromising links in a thread to articles written by people defining themselves as feminists the very definition of *hate against women* in itself, thus making feminism's very existence justified even more? Being a man keeps me from seeing the big picture Salon.com was trying to convey and me posting all those links compromises myself toward the female sex on a deeper level I will never be aware of forever. I get it now.

The point is, plenty of people already DO believe that about Bitcoin. Similarly, the popular conception of feminists and environmentalists is highly negative. Doesn't matter how true the conception is; the IMAGE is itself the problem hindering their goals. This isn't a thread about trying to prove that those movements are viewed badly. The facts are already in, we already KNOW what society thinks of feminists and environmentalists. This thread is about showing WHY the image is so bad, because apparently lots of people who claim those labels for themselves don't get it. (Or just refuse to believe it.) HINT: if you're attacking the messengers rather than acknowledging that these sorts of articles all illustrate the kind of people who cause the image problem, and either offer suggestions or counter-examples, you're probably not going to get anywhere. EXTRA HINT: I don't recall once in this thread where someone who was defending either feminists or environmentalists has said, "yeah, the movement goes too far here, and here, and I and others in the movement are working to restore sanity in that area by getting legislation *repealed*." Now, if you're defending these movements, but the idea of ever making the above statement seems worrisome or somehow wrong to you... YOUR MINDSET DIRECTLY CONTRIBUTES TO THE PROBLEM.

Quoted for truth. This applies to all *ists at a very fundamental level. If you don't police your own, your group gets tarred. Am not a joiner of groups myself and this is one of the reasons. Even if I agree with much of what a political party, or movement says, they all have outspoken wackos that grab headlines with their nonsense. So prefer not to be lumped in with any of that, and by the same token as judgemental as I am, I don't categorically thing all members of any group are bad or wrong. Being wrong is an individual thing.

A feminist studies professor at a California state university is facing criminal charges after a videotaped run-in with a teenage pro-life demonstrator in which she snatched an anti-abortion sign and appeared to get physical with the girl. University of California at Santa Barbara Associate Professor Mireille Miller-Young was charged with one misdemeanor count each of theft, battery and vandalism in the March 4 incident, Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce Dudley announced Friday. The charges came days after 16-year-old Thrin Short and her parents met with prosecutors. Thrin told authorities what she told FoxNews.com earlier this month: She, her older sister Joan, 21, and some other pro-life activists were holding signs and demonstrating in a free speech zone on the bucolic campus March 4 when Miller-Young, who also teaches courses on pornography, went berserk. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/03/21/university-california-santa-barbara-feminist-professor-charged-in-confrontation/?intcmp=trending

Environmentalists giving away Earth Day condoms to combat overpopulationIn honor of Earth Day this year, groups are giving out 44,000 “Endangered Species Condoms.” The environmentally friendly condoms will be distributed in an effort to refocus the green holiday back to why it was started: to campaign against “runaway human population growth and overconsumption.” “April 22 is the 44th Earth Day, and this year we want to bring the holiday’s focus back to its origins: runaway human population growth and overconsumption, the root causes of our most pressing environmental crises,” the Center for Biological Diversity wrote in a pitch to its supporters. “We need people across the country to help distribute 44,000 Endangered Species Condoms in time for Earth Day,” the Center continued. “These colorful, fun condom packages feature six species threatened by our growing human population — already more than 7 billion — along with talking points to help get the conversation started.” Read more: http://dailycaller.com/2014/03/21/environmentalists-giving-away-earth-day-condoms-to-combat-overpopulation/#ixzz2wr0IkVwv------------------------------------------------------ Free abortions next year?

CLIMATE CHANGE 'AS CERTAIN AS AUSCHWITZ,' CLAIMS GUARDIAN[...] Global warming ‘deniers’ are as bad as ‘Holocaust deniers’ because climate change is as “as certain as Auschwitz”, a Guardian columnist, Nick Cohen, has claimed. (H/T Marc Morano at Climate Depot) Anyone who disagrees with this is a “bed-wetting kidult”, he says. Oh, and also, climate change deniers are a bit like people who believe in aliens. http://www.breitbart.com/Breitbart-London/2014/03/23/Climate-Change-As-Certain-As-Auschwitz-claims-Guardian

A “Fat Justice and Feminism” seminar sponsored by Swarthmore College blamed Ronald Reagan for the suffering of fat people and accused the Body mass index (BMI) of having “direct links to a white supremacist.” The workshop, taught by feminist activist Cora Segal and self-identified “angry, man-hating lesbian,” Nicole Sullivan, took place Thursday and sought to “address the ongoing exploitation and oppression of fat people.” The Swarthmore Independent reports that Segal and Sullivan took aim at a variety of subjects including President Ronald Reagan, who they claimed “f*cked everything up” for fat people—though the Independent drily reports that “[n]o specific evidence about Reagan’s perverse policies or animosity toward obese people was offered.” Segal and Sullivan also argued in favor of “communism and socialism as viable alternatives to capitalism and exploitation” and against oppressive healthy eating and exercise programs. The two reportedly went so far as to claim that “every physician is bought off by lobbyists and the diet industry.” http://www.campusreform.org/?ID=5505

Why the fuck there's such a group of "fat people" who identify themselves by that. Do they take pride in being fat? It's not actually like really believing in something.
Whats next, dumb people joining in groups, and starting a Dumb People Pride? Oh wait, it's done already and is called (insert you pun here)

Do you take pride in being ignorant, racist, xenophobic, homophobic and Islamaphobic? You really do seem like a hateful person. What are you really angry with? Don't see what this has to do with environmentalists and feminists either?

That's because environmentalists and feminists (and vegetarians) tend to be over-bearing, hypocritical, and unwilling to take criticism. Mind you, not all of them are like that, I've met many vegetarians and environmentalists in my life that were calm intellectual people that I genuinely liked. I've never actually met a likeable feminist (although i'm sure they exist). Another study, featuring 17 male and 45 female undergraduates, confirmed the pervasiveness of those stereotypes.
Not much of a study

While I've noticed vegetarians being lumped in with the other two groups, I've not noticed any real (as in socially acceptable and intense) hostility toward them like the others. I suspect a lot of that is because most vegetarians aren't actively trying to punish other people for eating meat (or at the very least, maybe because those that do are considered animal rights activists instead.) Another study, featuring 17 male and 45 female undergraduates, confirmed the pervasiveness of those stereotypes.
Not much of a study True, but it wasn't the only one. As I recall, at least several all pointed to the same outcome.

I don't know about elsewhere, but I live in the NW U.S. and here it's pretty socially unacceptable to be vegetarian. People give them crap about it at restaurants just based on their order (even if they haven't brought up the fact that they are vegetarian). Shit, it's so socially acceptable to bash vegetarians there's even commercials that do it; usually depicting a man on a date with some psychotic girl that's flipping out b/c he ordered meat and is therefore committing 'murder'. I dated a vegan girl for a little under a year back in college, she definitely got crap for it all the time. Especially when she wouldn't order anything when people invited her out to restaurants that didn't have any vegan options. I suspect a lot of that is because most vegetarians aren't actively trying to punish other people for eating meat (or at the very least, maybe because those that do are considered animal rights activists instead.)
I don't know man, I've met some crazy over-bearing vegetarians in my time. I've even had some spend an entire meal lecturing me about what i'm eating. But you're probably right about the latter part, most of the vegetarians that do shit like that usually have some higher cause they've devoted their minds and souls to.

I worked with a girl who was a vegetarian, who was very nice...opposite of your description. Then one day she came back from lunch with this dazed, happy grin....I figgured she done fallen in love or got stoned or something. Everyone noticed it. Asked her what's happened. Her grin gets bigger and in pure happiness she said... "I just had a Hamburger...."

Not much of a study I think you have a point there concerning how people self-identify. For someone to self identify as a feminist...
