Yes Monero is fantastic.

When you look at what coins are good to invest in, you should also consider what category they fall under and what is their competition.
For example smart contract platforms category: eth, neo, ada, eos, etc.

So monero falls under the privacy coin category and it's competitors are: dash, verge, cloackcoin, etc.

Hands down, Monero absolutely dominates all these other privacy coins.

It has better tech, constant development, a unified community, brand name recognition, and is actually being used.
Don't worry about the price, in proportion to it's circulating supply, it is actually still pretty cheap even though it has contantly been in the top 20 coins.

A lot of people see privacy coins as going huge this year as regulations start to settle in.
That means that monero will particularly have a good year this year.

I would recomend to be very carefull with so-called privacy coins. Financial agency in many countries asking cryptocurrency exchanges to delist privacy coins like Monero, Zcash, and Dash

If you believe in the coin, and Monero is a solid privacy coin, then now is a great time to buy when looking at the charts alone because it seems to be at the bottom of a natural volatility based dip - but I would double check if there was any news or 'black swan events' which would explain the dip other than volatility.

I would advise investing in more promising coins, for example in EOS.  Now Monero is not the best coin for investment.

At some point of time in the near future I reckon the crypto environment will be regulated.

I can imagine that governments do not like 'stealth coins' like monero and will try to forbid these. One such example is the Japanese government trying to push exchanges to drop altcoins favoured by criminals (Monero any1? ). I foresee more of these kind of actions from governments.

Personally, for this reason I will not invest in stealth coins like Monero.
