NCP fork update November 10th 2018

The Newton Coin Project’s team would like to bring you this NCP fork update, to provide some insights into the reasons for the upcoming fork.
The necessity of the fork
Back when the Newton Coin Project started its services in March, the team set its Algorithm, fee and technology. The Algorithm was set at Proof of Work (PoW), the fee set at 1% for all NCP mining pools, and the CryptoNight technology was selected to be used.
Over time, the NCP team has noticed a decline in its science wallet funds. It became apparent that the 1% was not high enough to pay for all of NCP’s costs and even worse, to be able to fund new and promising research projects, the core essence of the Newton Coin Project. It was also revealed that not all NCP pools were upholding the fee, essentially limiting the funds for the science wallet even further. Combine this with a steady decline in the value of the NCP coin, and the project found itself financially relying on its community and investors, more than what it should be.
Benefits for investors
This is why the Newton Coin Project’s team has decided to implement an NCP fork. The fork will change the way that fees for the science wallet are handled, which will ensure that all fees are imposed on block rewards, rather than relying on mining pools collecting and transferring fees back to NCP. The fork will ensure all pools and individual miners will contribute the new fee to the science wallet, which ensures that the NCP team will maintain a consistent stream of funds. Funds that it needs to:
Fund new exchanges
Fund new partnerships
Fund new research projects
Fund new marketing campaigns
Fund NCP team
Grow the NCP project
Additionally, NCP miners are/were mining directly into exchanges. This is something that the NCP team is urgently enticing all miners to stop doing. This problem was one of the reasons why STEX had to disable NCP deposits for a while. Now STEX is back online, and the new fork will cause less NCP to be mined directly onto exchanges (including STEX). This will indirectly lead to miners to ‘dump’ less NCP on the exchanges.
Investors are very important to the Newton Coin Project. We believe that this fork is in our investors’ best interest and will significantly help further development of the project.

Cryptonote Index Fund (CNIF) is holding an ICO and investors will then invest in 13 cryptonight coins, 6 of which have already been chosen. That leaves 7 cryptonight coins left to choose.

CNIF has a channel where coin projects can go and vote for the coin they would like to see added to the CNIF portfolio.
