Won't it be less decentralized by shutting ascis out ? (Still stupid as fuck..)

Wow. I was just talking and price went from $0,003534 to $0,003537 on coinmarketcap.com.

No, because ASICs are usually run by big farms. And those big farms are going to point their massive hash at one single pool. You want a whole nation like Iceland and China to dominate BitcoinZ?

ASICs are terrible.

There will always be research going on for ASIC like mining devices as crypto offers a lot of opportunity. Do you think it is possible to prevent ASICS from mining once and for all or will it always be a fight of pro ASIC and anti ASIC groups?

I wanted to say this.

Look what happen to BTC and LTC.  Try mining with a GPU.  No payout.  Big farms own these coins.

ASIC Mini for Equihash bury GPUs.  The maxi will ruin ZCash and Zen.

If we change the algo to new (like ZHash) that is not in use by any big coin, no one will be interested in building an ASIC just for BTCZ. If in some case someone do, that would mean that price of BTCZ is such that we are all millioners.

Sorry for the noob question, i'v been mining BTCZ for a while now I like the project a lot and think it has potential, when the new Algo is implemented will I have to update my wallet? also what else will I have to change in order to be able to mine under the new algo?

To much talk about no name shit exhanges...

To much talk about wasting 10 BTC on no name shit exchanges

Not enough talk on what algo is going replace equihash...

Price of btcz keeps dropping

@BitcoinZTeam #BitcoinZ #BTCz We are pleased to announce Zhash, a new hashing algorithm designed with the goal of hardening the Equihash protocol to be more ASIC resistant.

Find more about this effort on our github page:

https://github.com/btcz/bitcoinz/issues/38

Very good decision. I waiting for that info. BitcoinZ allways ASIC resistance!

ZHash, hmmm I rather like that  Wink

I do too.  Someone mentioned re-branding btcz to just Z.  I like that as well.

Look how many "btc" alts there are, including beloved btcz.  I like renaming/rebranding.

It requires you to pay a good amount of attention to the markets all the time. Buy and hold strategy with projects you deem high quality is rather how I work Smiley

Buy, hold, mine and trade.  Trade meaning have some bags ready for dump too. As it is today.

Throw some "shit" and see what sticks.

Hey Minetree,

You won't have to do anything with your wallet.  This will only affect mining new coins.  After the fork, you will need to use a miner program and pool that supports the new algo.  Details are still in work, but plans are being made to assure both will be ready for the fork.

Somewhere I read that the new ZHash algorithm is based on the Equihash 144,5 variant.
Do you think BitcoinZ will be still minable with Nvidia GTX 1060 3Gb GPUs?

Correct me if I'm wrong but Equihash is not like Ethash which is very ram dependant.
I believe Equihash is more focused on gpu performance and core clock which is why Nvidia is a better choice than AMD.
So I think mining BitcoinZ will work fine with 3gb cards.

BitcoinZ - community driven, no premine, no dev-tax, developers always welcome

Yes, Equihash is not as memory dependent as Ethash.

But as also Texacha mentioned few days ago, for example the Equihash 192,7 algorithm used by ZERO currency (ZER) requires much higher memory, (about 16 times higher) and CPU usage.
Because of this reason, as far as I know, ZERO could be mined with at least the 6Gb version of Nvidia GTX 1060 GPUs (and only on Linux). Some 4Gb AMD graphics cards are capable to mine, but not the 3Gb Nvidia ones (feel free to correct me if I am wrong).

I really hope that the new ZHash algo based on Equihash 144,5 will not require as high memory and CPU usage.
