No, bitcoin is decentralized system, even government cannot kill bitcoin. No one can control bitcoin.
Even if government have regulations about bitcoin, it will not kill bitcoin.

What government can do is only make trade regulation on bitcoin transaction but government or central bank can not control it because bitcoin transaction data spread around the world and in many computer

I don't see any reason why governments will even try to kill bitcoin. Cos, bitcoin have nothing to do with the governments.

Definitely yes, governments can kill bitcoin or stop bitcoin but only in their jurisdiction or country. We all know that some countries or government already kill bitcoin on their land or country. They are their different reasons for doing that and the people of their country can’t do anything about this because we are all govern of whatever kind of leadership we have. Here in our country we are just luck enough that our government is not against with bitcoin and our hopes are so high that they will not do anything or plan to kill bitcoin here in our country.

If the government came up with an improved crypto currency, which was open source and decentralized, then I would be fine.

The latest news is that the US government is look closely at Bitcoin. A number of governments such as Russia and China are also planning to issue their own digital currencies. They clearly see a financial threat from Bitcoin.

What do you think? Can governments kill Bitcoin and replace it with their own digital/crypto currency?
Governments have begun to pay close attention to Bitcoin. They see the benefits of Bitcoin and the potential of Bitcoin in the future. The non-governmental nature of Bitcoin, which deals with the taxation of Bitcoin activities in disputed countries. As far as I know, governments are finding solutions to the management and taxation of Bitcoin activities. They will not replace it with another crypto. Bitcoin will grow stronger.

It is indeed the future plan of big countries such as china, Russia, America to create their own digital currency, but that I believe will not be able to stop bitcoin currency, because bitcoin is already owned and spread all over the world.
I think yes,Government everywhere do the bad job of it.but not for lack of conscience and effort, rather more for lack of  humility. They will never be up to the task of central planning.

What I worry about is governments shutting down the exchanges that convert bitcoin to local currency. They can make it illegal. I wonder there if Bitcoin can survive that, if people will be willing to use Bitcoin exclusively to buy and sell goods.

In my country Bitcoin is banned by the government but there are many investors involved in these currencies, it can be said that the virtual currency is making the economic market trying my country more developed but vice versa The government feels very uncomfortable when these currencies are in the market.

I do not think that US government will do this. Some of the countries like India have made an statement that they are thinking to launch their own crypto but I do not see much potential there because:

1) Thy are calling crypto bad and thus banning bitcoins. Then if they launch own coins, who will have trust on this hypocritical attitude.

2) Since, they are banning other crypto, what will their coins compete with. I think that it is because of comparison and competition only, bitcoin gained so much popularity.

Maybe some of the country's government can kill bitcoin but here in our place, no one can kill it. Not all governments in the world have the power to make bitcoin gone in our lives. If more supporters bitcoin have, it can help to be strong enough even if they will try to defeat it and make bitcoin disappear in mind. So let's be united to help and to maintain bitcoin in this world.

Governments of many countries have been keeping a close watch over bitcoins. They certainly feel the threat from it and thus wanted to stop it at any cost but technological aspects that are running it is somewhere out of their hands and not easy for them to understand or ban the encryption behind it.
Thus there's not much anything they can do about it and can't stop it.

Yes, The government has a power to control or kill any activity under it's jurisdiction most especially if it threatens national security.
but it does not kill bitcoin entirely, only in the sphere of its government alone, so if that's what it means yes the government can do anything against bitcoin, but limited in the scope of its power alone.

of course not, the government will never be able to kill bitcoin because I think bitcoin is created because it wants to make one of the digital currency that will never be controlled by anyone even the government, if the government succeeds in mastering bitcoin then it seems bitcoin price will be made game by the government, but I do not think that's possible.

As we all know about bitcoin is that it can't be hacked and trace for the reasons that bitcoin is untraceable and untouchable for the reason that no central system takes control of bitcoin, it exidt on its own that's why I don't see them shutting down the bitcoin but I don't know what their full capacity either. So maybe they will, but they can't fully shut the system down.

That would really be hard since bitcoin has an unique codes in its creation. And the fact that its origin is really unknown even if satoshi nakamoto is really a person still no one knows his true identity and the place that he created bitcoin. Also the users of the bitcoin will also be a reason for the goverment to not ban bitcoin since the users will be protesting against banning it. And the fact that bitcoin could really help someone when it comes to moneytary issues is really hard. The only thing that they could do is to ban it globally and endure the peoples protest against banning it which is pretty hard.
