I'm curious about some thoughts here, as I don't see this as inherently bad. Ultimately, if we want bitcoin, alts and cryptos, in general, to become more mainstream and continue to grow then we definitely need a form of regulation (as much as that may counter argue the decentralized system itself) and a way to curb scammers.

Keep in mind that every person who gets scammed will voice their opinion as loud, if not louder, regarding why everyone they know should avoid bitcoin, etc.

I actually don't see this as a bad thing; when I was discussing this with friends and family over the holidays, I had to encourage people to avoid investing before they did a lot of research (not only on the coin/project, but the platform/exchange itself). It would be a good thing for our community if we could create a safer (and easier) way for people to invest into the projects we know and back.

This about general stock investments; anyone can walk into a bank, fill out a form and begin trading and investing. If investing in cryptos was as easy (and safe, in that you won't get scammed through a bank), then some of those same people may shift their investments to "our world", so to speak.

Maybe I'm wrong here, but I don't see this as inherently a bad thing. Definitely a bit of a knee-jerk reaction, but maybe it has to be done in order to curb the growing appeal of scammers. I'm very sure that well established projects and exchanges, as well as major coins will shortly continue to find a way to advertise. Likely, Google and the rest will also create a sort of internal advisory board to approve/deny up and coming projects that wish to advertise. Keep in mind that Google makes a ton of revenue through their advertisement platform, it's not in their best interest (either) to completely shut the door on such a lucrative and up and coming market.

just my 2 cents.

Well the main point here is certain social media and right now google are banning the ads and links that are all Crypto related I don't think this can be a big problem with the value of bitcoin and other Altcoins, Because There are still many out there are keeps on supporting Bitcoin and Cryptocurrencies, I really think they had their own reason for doing this if it's not for the securities and privacy of their services it might be they are working on their own Cryptocurrency for themselves because this would be a competition between other Cryptocurrencies.

www.bitcoinfuji.com says

Just read about it here:

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/03/14/technology/google-bitcoin-advertising.html

This means all those crypto youtube channels will have to shutdown: unbelievable

I think the video about the ICO they allow to shoot. But they will close the mediocre advertisement in the videos themselves and in google. So on people who earn on bounty program this should not be reflected. States more and more want to control crypto-currencies, only the will of people who are ready to defend their right to a bright future will be able to help.

Either the mechanism to destroy crypto was turned on, or it was done to protect people from fraud. I do not know how to react to this yet. In any case, we should wait a little. Probably, the less advertising, the worse for the crypto market.

I'm not sure their strategy would be that self-serving, particularly as most alts are specific to some industry/project or problem. I could see Facebook or YT moving towards a coin/token system of some sort and therefore maybe focusing on disallowing projects focusing on decentralized social media (I guess maybe Tron is an example of that), but to make it a blanket move just seems too over the top/monopolistic.

All these so called social media are afraid of rivals coming up in a decentralized way that is why they are banning all cryptos related adverts.
I am very sure a decentralized  search engine, a decentralized social media platform, a decentralized movies and music sites e.g buzzshow i.e rival to youtube  e.t.c will spring up and ensuring competitiveness in all the industries.

In my opinion there it is written that Google will fight with advertising. Channels on YouTube - this is not advertising, most likely we are talking about pop-up contextual advertising, which pay Google directly.

I hope that the situation will change before summer. I don't believe that such large companies intentionally go to the loss of advertising budgets.

Good move from google and youtube,it will only lessen these scammy projects! Less noob people will get scammed by these people so it will give some positive impact to our community and the last resort of these scammers will be in bitcointalk, where moderators and DT members are fighting against shit projects .

Google has did the right thing because most of the ads are came from their advertising program,so it will lessen the chances of these scam ICOs to be in public's feed,it only means that these scam projects will have less chance of getting noob investors so they will eventually fail at the end. This is a very good thing to protect the people from such scams,i believed this is the way that to decrease scam ICOs.

Sounds postive to me,less advertisements from these scam projects will result into less people getting scammed,Bitcointalk would only be the place where these ICOs be able to advertise their projects and im sure these ICOs will be caught by the moderators and DT members that is why it is very positive thing to have because most of these scammers are using affiliate website like google.

time for decentralised search engines
Might be a good idea what are we going to call this then? decentralized search engine DSE? google is getting more ridiculous why they are banning cryptocurrency advertisements while pornographic ads are allowed in their community, they are allowing porn blogs in their blog platform, selling guns and other shit stuffs? cryptocurrencies? they shouldnt be doing that they can ban these potential scams but not all ICOs are scams.

If this is true, this is a very good news for our community because less stupid people will get scammed by these scammers, less advertisments wont give any good chance of getting people's attention especially those careless and new investors who arent doing research before investing to any of these scam projects, lack of knowledge is the main reason why these people are taking advantage!

They had to announce that? That sounds very questionable. Of course you're supposed to ban shady services but to ban all of them doesn't sound right. My expert take is to ban Google from my house. Time to use DuckDuckGo dot com.
