Facebook also "banned" it but I still see ads time to time.

I think it's gonna take some time to fully enforce it.

I don't think it will shut down crypto youtube channels only the advertising at the beginning. If their content is about crypto they are only giving their option on the matter. So it's freedom of speech. The same as facebook did it was only for paid advertisement.

It is not good news. The best you can do is roll with the punches.
It is sad for a lot of the owners of Youtube channels that have spent a lot of time and effort building subscribers.

Exactly, there is a difference between "promotion" and "talking about thing you are interested in". I think youtube crypto-reviewers will be the last to fall - if they indeed fall, because there cannot be restriction on what to discuss in an open forum. If anyone proves, that some reviewer promotes (instead of reviewing) ICO, then he may also fall under ban. At least that's how I read the situation.

Well, this isn't a good sign. A lot of people who actually worked only because of these prevailing ads will be definitely demotivated. Also, a lot of people who aren't having full knowledge will take a step back due to FB and Google banning the ads.

The company said (GOOGLE) the ban also applied to content related to cryptocurrencies “including but not limited to initial coin offerings, cryptocurrency exchanges, cryptocurrency wallets and cryptocurrency trading advice.” : WHICH EVER WAY YOU LOOK AT IT IT IS NOT GOOD

Advice could be regarded as Youtube promoters pumping coins they own: The whole thing is a grey area, wait and see what Google do

What about the scammy ICOs? Wouldn't it be good to get rid of ads for that?

It will be a long game.
The harder the rules against crypto projects become, the faster the crypto eco-system matures in alternative internet.
The world needs most popular services like youtube to be decentrilized and owned by everybody and not by some corporation.

I really don't think that way, I believe they can do it so easily should youtube decide not to support this coins. It's hard to think why such a useful currency be so neglected when they can do so many things with this technology. I think this is all about the money, maybe their businesses are now affected. So they wanted it closed.

Any regulatory step taken by such trustworthy names could only benefit all concerned. Why see this as a cause for worry, when it speaks of genuine concern for the security of users.

Yep I think Google is actually scared of that, and they are trying to prevent having a rival search engine that wouldn't be owned by a company but by the people.

Tooting. Google makes a big mistake by banning absolutely everything. regulation and moderation are necessary, but not complete prohibition.

If this will be official then will Twitter the only one who accept crypto ads after the Facebook and possible Google ban. This will make Twitter very important in my opinion.
