website seems to be back up, however the registration doesn't work.

if anyone else has any luck , do update.

I agree though the prices are way too high and with poor refund policy and lack of any prototype they are requiring too much faith from clients.

Same here, impossible to sign up

Scam or not it looks very much like BFL scenario.
New pricey wonders which may come in half a year and at the time when they come they may be too little to matter much. When they come then it may be already late for various reasons.

Yeah, and I was expecting this to happen sooner or later. Whether they are a scam or not, there's no way I'll ever buy dedicated mining hardware again. These Ponzi schemes never give you more money back than what you've spent on them. Unless the currency in question explodes in price, but then you'd still be better off just buying the currency itself.

On the other hand, I do expect a horde of noobs to jump on the bandwagon and preorder an insane amount of miners. So GPU mining might be dead by this time next year. Unfortunately, the new miners who will have killed it off will probably lose money themselves in the process...

still offline for me.

I hated the BFL drama.
They took our miners, did their own mining for a few months and shipped it to the customers.
Hope it won't happen with Alpha Technology but how can we stop this BFL thing from happening.

You say on https://alpha-t.net/news/registration-open-updates/
"Registration is now open, you can register here and add your desired product and quantity to your Wishlist:
   https://alpha-t.net/login-register/  "

But there is no option to register.. ?

It is not a big problem, but it is strange if you, in this phase, already deviate from core values like "tell what you do & do what you tell".

My Biggest issue here Alpha is that you base your price of GPU prices. IE it will cost me the same to buy 280's for 5MH/s SURE it is without the entire rig. AKA no mobo and psu's

BUT the issue here is that shipping dates are Q2/Q3 of next year. That means that by the time the asics come out the 5mh/s will be basically useless if the hashrate continues to grow as it has. If you decide to spend the extra 500 pounds and buy a gpu rig for 5mh/s then you get more out of it than if you bought asics that are only being delivered q2 or q3 next year.

I really want you guys to succeed. Bringing LTC ASICS into the market is a great achievement and I will even order one with you to show support. But it doesnt make any type of Financial sense to buy an 5mh asic for £1350 when delivery is only Q2 or Q3 next year. as you can build an entire 5mh rig NOW for £1850 if you know what you are doing. Even with the added power consuption that GPU's have it is still worth it as they have a resale value.

If my calculations or assumptions are wrong please let me know. Because I really want you guys to do well. But honestly with that price tag I dont think you will. Not for Q2/Q3 delivery aka 4-9 months from now. (4 months I would understand the price a bit better though, but I will mine more LTC if I build my own gpu rig now and start mining it now

Please correct me if I am wrong which I hope I am

If the price was in dollars it would make 100% sense and I would understand it completely. and then even order a 25mh/s

My Biggest issue here Alpha is that you base your price of GPU prices.

If they shipped now, price would be ok. But to ship in Q2 or even Q3 would mean that price should be lower. Also there is no resale value with purpose built miners. Therefore price should be considerably lower compared to gpu.  Of course power consumption is lower but there is almost zero performance advantage in calculation power compared to GPU for the price. With current prices electricity cost is about 10% of the scrypt income. Therefore income has to shrink to 10% from current levels before GPUs stop coming to hashing!! There is also other scrypt asics in development but no anything close to shipping date from others.

Edit:6 month warranty is also no good when it takes over a year to make profit

Why would You sell 5MH/s unit for 1350 GBP, when it would make 1450 GBP/month mining DOGE for ex. at this moment?
Altruisam? Or You will "test" them for a month before? Maybe two months. Or three. And the delivery will be ethernal "two weeks".
Anyhow I'll buy one. If you accept payment one month after delivery.

With these prices it won't be this profitable in a week.

This is a scam. I hope people are aware of BFL scam with SHA-256 ASIC
Last month there was a conference in London and thousands of people are waiting for a scrypt ASIC, where were you? Probably playing videogames.
And the India idea? Look at India reaction to cryptos today.. LOL
Don't give them a dime

Scrypt was developed as ASIC unfriendly. Bitcoin was not. When something is meant to be unfriendly then is legal and necessary to avoid any breakout of that state. I think there is a possibility to make scrypt coins asic unfriendly again, just by changing the source code. Its possible to change source code of many cryptos if biggest pools allow that. Then nobody will try to build up ASIC scam / ponzi scheme again. I personally will switch to the new currency which will be resistant to  scrypt asic because crypto should belong to huge amount of people not to be controlled by few companies.
