This will depend on the situation if they say its a free airdrop
then you signup alrady submitted the forms, and yea you did
everything posting retweet, like , share, you are waiting for the airdrop for days
then suddenly the admin announce a very important thing saying
they want you to verify if you really are the person owns the address
and want you to login in the link with your private key, then this is a sure scam and
very dangerous be very careful there a lots of airdrop asking for this info
don't fall for this one i hope that i help you take care guys

Maybe you will not imagine happening to you. But I think out there, there are people who send the only private key he has to store his portfolio, as requested by someone when following Airdrop. This is crypto, everyone is trying to make a profit, even in the wrong way.
yes, we just follow what will be asked by the rules that include the eth addres we have, but don't think whether there is any bad after following it and surely always believe it because it was asked to send tokens if ICO is done. but if the project is a scam then you don't get anything and also can't do anything then everyone does benefit in many ways it is commonplace.

Hi everybody,
Lately I am reading a lot of posts asking: is this airdrop a scam? Is that free ICO a scam?
So I am wondering how can something that doesn't cost you a penny be a scam. Sure, they get your email adress and maybe a ETH Adress, but how can you  really be scamed with only this informations? I am not talking about airdrops that require kyc registration, that for sure can be dangerous.
Cheers,

@op, many free things can be a scam. As the saying goes from where I come from, Nigeria, "a person that looks for awoof (free things) looks for nothing". Considering the time you spent doing the free things that would later yield no result, that could also be a scam if you know much about time management.

There were a number of fake airdrops, which were collecting the user-information such as the ETH wallet address and the linked Bitcointalk account, for dubious purposes. So there can be risks associated with things which are free.

Many free things can be a scam if you are promised to do something and it laters fetch you no reward. For the fact that you wasted your time, data, energy in doing the free stuff and no rewards come after, then you should know that it's nothing but a scam. They might have used you to achieve their purpose which is joining their Telegram. They needed people to join their Telegram group which they might want to use for another purpose, the only way they can get it is to announce a fake airdrop, then you start joining and when it reaches the number they need they tell you the form is closed and few months later they divert the group to another thing. Tell me how that is not a scam.

Even waste of your time is scam, besides some airdrop are worthless and the people in charge might be needing  some certain  amount of people for a group or something, which you have already  joined because of the airdrop, and they airdrop you the worthless coin while they have gained from the  group which you joined.... That is scam alone

And if you mind bounty.
I think it is not true, bounty campain have a more changes to grow up.
And more changes to survive, when the coin is drop.
Thats why i never do airdrop and do bounty.

Although there are many scammers in the airdrop, you can refuse to provide any privacy (ID card, wallet private key, various private passwords), ICO scam is the most difficult to distinguish, because even if it is a real ICO project, it may be due to more Reasons for failure!

Not all airdrop are free, there are still AIRDROP that ask for transaction fees for each and every participant. Also there are some airdrop who do ICO. This is why others call airdrop as scams. because scam in airdrop really exist.

Free doesn't mean good. Nowadays there is a lot of fake ICO or altcoins that will try to draw your attention to participate but you will sure lose your money because it is scam, so study and do research before you invest.

They will sell your information. Sell them to other ICOs who want them. Do you see any ICO promotional emails appearing in your spam? That is the sign your information has been sold. There are many forms of fraud. Not just money scams

Everything can be a scam. Even if it not for free.. Just watch the most ICOs that we back in 2017... The most projects just scammed their people and run away with all their money.

Not all free are scam or fraud but not all that you have paid for is not a scam, too. The amount you pay is not an assurance of its legitimacy. Just make sure you do research before investing into something or before accepting something that they call free but actually just getting information from your bio.

Something arent free can be a scam still, specially airdrops that is why people saying  that airdrops is just a waste of time because you need to fill some form and in the end the coin you get has no value,it is free. There are also things that arent free but in the end it is scam.

Sry didnt read the thread fully, but giving my answer still.
I think its a clear case of scamming for free marketing. They are trying to get people see the coin and make it "legitimate". Then they list it on a exchange as fast as possible and hope people dont have a negative view of them and sell the tokens.

The "airdrop" itself is something like " GET HUGE REWARDS UP TO 100$ BOUNTY BIG AIRDROP ". Then they want people to spam it everywhere so that if even a fraction of people buy into it after listing, they get free money and try to exit with as much money as possible. Maybe some people sell their tokens off, but still the devs might dump much more, or even worse they themself fill most of the people in the airdrop. So essentially they drop most of the tokens to themselves and then say that they keep only 5%.

From my expirience most of free things are scam. For example? 99% of bounty and is a scam and it's a free way to get tokens.

Like other users already pointed out, scams don't involve necessarily somebody that takes away your money, but this somebody could take away your precious time that can be invested in other activities and that's a fraud because you are not getting what promised in the first place.
