Absolutely yes, you might give out your details with clear conscience and what becomes the outcome. You will loose some monies instead. Although it is free you are scammed out of it

Free stuff can certainly be a hoax, whether it's an airdrop or a fake ICO plan. It's all easy to do. If you want to avoid this, you must carefully check the authenticity of the project.

I agree with you, all forms of free programs of course have a risk of a scam, and now many ways are done by the fraudsters to make a profit. The thing to do is always be careful in making decisions and do check first.

I do not think so. There is a lot of airdrop to be distributed and valuable. However, nothing is free, you must fulfill the requirements that they give to receive rewards, although those requirements are quite easy. However, it works very well for the project, there will be more and more people know it and the project will be more successful.

Yea it possible. A lot of airdropped coin that was given free ended up scamming people who later invested in the project.

Fraud means not only that you will have stolen money. But if you think about it, then if airdrop is a fraud, then the project itself is also a fraud, and people have invested their money in it, then it's a fraud!

Well, imho, scam is not necessarily take away your money. If you give something (your time, your personal data, anything, your signature) because you are promised to be rewarded, but in the end the person/entity is breaking their promise, it might be called scam/fraud.

And BTW when you give your data freely they might sell it to some people, and many people willing to pay for personal data.

You nailed it. I always say that investments are not just in monetary terms. Whatever doesn't give reward promised is a scam.

yes exactly, coins coming from airdrop could be a scam. when tokens are entered in exchange but could have no value, it is a scam. do not forget to make sure and do some research before you choose airdrop.

There used to be a lot of interesting airdrops, you could earn, now the situation is worse. But airdrop itself is not fraud, you just need to carefully choose the right project.

Hi everybody,
Lately I am reading a lot of posts asking: is this airdrop a scam? Is that free ICO a scam?
So I am wondering how can something that doesn't cost you a penny be a scam. Sure, they get your email adress and maybe a ETH Adress, but how can you  really be scamed with only this informations? I am not talking about airdrops that require kyc registration, that for sure can be dangerous.
Cheers,

Well, I think it is a scam due to your wasted effort. They have promised that they will reward you then fail to accomplished it then it could be a very known scam. Either its free or not in a since that they have stated to reward people but fail to then it could be a scam.

It is true, we must be more careful. whatever we do, we must continue to strive to provide the best. And we should always be careful. Preferably, do not be too happy with something that used to be free. because its free this is worth a watch.

I have said this time and again. that most things that comes free are scam that's why I don't waste my previous time, resources and energy on this scam airdrops labelled ' free '.
I would rather participate in bounty campaigns than airdrops.
there should be nothing for free, all costing you internet, energy, and time. in case of fraud you will not get anything until the end of the project. not just the meaning of airdrop but bounty now so much so always be careful and multiply the information you get and essentially nothing is free.

Being free from scam is not even just about participating in airdrops as you can end up participating in bounties as well and still end up doing bounty for a scam project. The only simple way is to be very wary of the projects you are representing during bounties, by doing a proper research before joining which I believe so many bounty dudes do not make attempt to do, resulting to them wasting their precious time.

In fact, most people are frustrated with airdrops because many people waste a lot of time to complete the airdrops, but they don't get any return!

Scam is something that we can not avoid, because not all projects run smoothly, many projects are not achieved so it can be a scam project, selective and careful is the thing to do to avoid scam projects

Cheers,

Firstly, let me correct the notion that some ICOs are free. ICOs cannot be free, you definitely pay for it before you receive the token. While all airdrops are free and almost 80% of them are scam.

well, as a bounty hunter. i can say that "yes, it's was a scam" since nothing is free like as you said here. we bought the laptop, internet bill, electricity bill, etc. and the most important that efforts and time. so nothing is free.

When someone offers you something that is free with nothing to do, then most likely, you will get scammed. When we do bounty campaigns for ICO project, the token we get is not given for free because we work hard in it, we give our time, money for internet and electricity bills and effort to do what they require us to do, so it is not free, we earned it because we worked for it.

You can be scammed in different ways - online, by phone, by post or in person. Scammers try to get your personal details to get money from you or steal your details so they can pretend to be you. In case of free airdrops,  be sensitive when joining and always check first its credentials.

It can be a scam because you invest your time and effort doing the tasks! For me, time is gold. I don't want to waste my time doing shits so choose a good project to participated in, search for their team, website, whitepaper etc. to avoid scam. Smiley
