Besides a slightly updated algo which frankly is not much. What does PigeonCoin plan to do that RavenCoin is not doing? Will PigeonCoin just be merging in RavenCoins new releases that are planned?

If it is just to prove that x16s could be more effective for miners then it has no long term value

What are your plans? Is this just a clone that copies as RavenCoin innovates?

To be fair, that statement could be used to describe Raven as well. They didn't create a new algorithm, so much as they combined a bunch of pre-existing algorithms. Sure, Raven has promised to do something more than simply x16r in the future, but it's just a hope and a prayer at this point.

It is much more than hope and prayer.  They have an entire team with active development(not in public repo yet). RaveCoin could replace ETH and how tokens are issued completed.

Besides the fact that PigeonCoin was not a fair launch at least bring something else to the table.

The above alone has tainted the project in my opinion, dare I say just pump and dump for those guys that premined  for 5 days before making the ANN public

That wallet asked me if I wanna trash 8 Gb of my HDD space. I wonder why does it have to be that big then the app has been trashed instead. New algo or not, that's too much space for a wallet, imagine what happens if everybody starts doing the same Embarrassed I have some 10 wallets in Appdata\Roaming already. And those shitcoins fail to get listed for 3 weeks already.

Do you plan on doing any development more involved than changing a few lines of code that control the ordering of the algos?

This all sounds like one big hype train circle jerk with no actual intent to ever do anything more than exist.  The idea that making the algos shuffle and repeat instead of being truly random is an improvement is ridiculous.  The proof of work algos can just be changed, it's easy and I think you know that.  This is or at least should be a DoA clone, you even copied with a bird themed name and polygon logo.  It doesn't seem like you have any unique development on the coin itself.

I've built sgminer-x16s on Windows, it's completely untested because I don't have AMD hardware. Could anyone try it out and report back?

https://github.com/gradinkov/sgminer-x16s/releases/tag/gradinkov1

https://i.imgur.com/9I4g1qV.png

this is as far as i can achieve to get (with vega). had to move msvcr100.dll into the dir to get that far

edit: also note, your notes mention getting vc-x86, but using the x86 version of msvcr100.dll makes it fail, needed the x64 version : https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=13523
and the 2010 link supplied is a secure link (needs log in)

That doesn't make any sense, all DLLs and exes are 32 bit. Just inspected them all manually.

Anyhow, tried to build with older ADL SDK, you could give it  a go:

https://github.com/gradinkov/sgminer-x16s/releases/tag/gradinkov2

Note to self: apparently it works with -T flag meaning pdcurses is broken, should rebuild on my own sometime. Thanks Ellife!

Forgive if it's somewhat of a newb question.   Thank you for your help.

got it working as discussed in discord (ellife) with newer version, no longer had to move .dll's into working folder, just had to use -T to disable ncurse ui
https://i.imgur.com/k133cgZ.png
speed is better than i mentioned in chat, as i actually had one gpu disabled on initial screenshot. And brian's one working with same speed, just with the sgminer ui along the top working

hey guys has anyone ever seen an error code in ( ccminer enemy-1.03
( an illegal memory access was encountered cuda error in func ,)
stopped my miner and makes me feel a little scared to continue
using this miner , any comments would be appreciated , thanks

This could happen due to high intensity. Try lower values, like -i 18 and go up from there.

Also could be a combination of the following factors:
  • High OC
  • High Intensity
  • High Temperature resulting in clock throttling
  • Insufficient power capacity/stability

Good luck mining!

A reminder for those that don't read all pages:  the ANN itself says this:

Quote
On day five, I asked our group of twelve to start onboarding more miners...

For 5 days, it was mined by only 12 people.  These 12 are going to get rich from your buys.

I like how people these days get out of admitting there was a pre-mine.  Sometimes it is "oh we were just testing network".  But this is a new one: "oh I was mining with 11 friends, so it is not a pre-mine".

If the 12 founders think I'm just being a troll, how about you actually either (1) explain why letting 12 people "early mine" makes for a fair launch, or (2) actually make it fair by burning everything you mined in the first 5 days?

If your answer to (1) is "we posted a discord link in one place, anyone could have joined (even though only like 100 people look at the place we posted the link)", try again.

ALSO:

Quote
The next day, last night, a GPU randowhale nearly burned down the network.

The difficulty on your network adjusts REALLY slow.  How many blocks did this "randowhale" take?  3000?  5000?  Why shouldn't investors be *TERRIFIED* of this guy dumping?  This is the REASON every coin should make a fair launch: if the network had been public from the start, your CPU hash would have been a lot higher than 20 MH, and other people would have been working on a public GPU miner sooner.

EDIT: More math:

Blocktime is 1 min = 1440 blocks/day.  Yet at the time of this ANN, over 23,000 blocks were gone.  So no, it wasn't just a "six day premine".  16 days' worth of blocks were taken in those 6 days (because of how slo your difficulty moves).

Let's be frank and call a spade a spade. What they did was equivalent to a premine. They probably have tens of millions by now and they plan to get rich. If other miners are not bothered by this, then maybe they also plan to get rich or gain some profit if PGN pumps an dumps. So far, there is no clear plan or objective for this coin except having a new algo. Will that change? Who knows? For now we are all just speculating for a possible profit.
