Hi [DumbFruit],
Our offer was "I can offer you 100% of the amount if we re-denominate the balance in USD from the date you deposited. This is valid for 24 hours." which we both agree to. Bitcoin is simply the method we use to transfer, so logically the amount would be based on when the transaction is made. (Same thing if you buy something priced in Euros with a USD credit card, not when you add something to the shopping cart). The price of when you sent to Inputs.io was $103 (using mtgox) The current spot price of BTCUSD on Mtgox is $564
103/564=0.1826 0.1826*955=174.383
Payment: Please see the TXID 72c77cd3de9e34f0c4a1520fdba0ffab10354d5975ab99a54c1ff0c7084adac2

Hi [DumbFruit],
Please see the TXID 10d0a9e8d166267b3045b8d107b300cb722334cdb85f845eac9eba40b21cece1
I trust that this matter is settled.
Any reason why blockchain says both those txID are invalid?

Updated to here, and if someone wants to start compiling known addresses of TradeFortress', that could be worthwhile. I don't have time to do it myself.

If he is valuating at current $ value, then maybe he really did exchange his funds into USD to speculate on a crash.
Oh god thats bad at these rates...

I just settled with TF. I followed the approach outlined by DumbFruit. I figured out the USD equivalent at the time of deposit for all my initial deposits that went into CL. This gave me a grand total USD that I was out. I then proposed a BTC coin price that would deliver the equivalent value. I 'future dated' it by going above the current spot price. He responded right away to the offer. He said he wanted either government ID or an address used as a deposit to Inputs to send to. Since my deposits were from exchanges, I couldn't give him an address that would function that way, so I send a scan of my passport with some information redacted. My return rate is a bit below what DumbFruit got, but they were the numbers I proposed.
TF asked me to post my settlement here, and so I did.
I really needed to move on and now I am.

Ugh... so far, the answers I've read aren't too encouraging. I'll need to look up what were the rates at the time of my deposit, if he wants to settle that way. I'll reply here if he responds to my email.

How exactly did you contact them? I attempted to PM the TradeFortress account here on bitcoin talk, but I got a message that 'my message was blocked by TradeFortress' which is odd since I've never messaged them before. Any help here would be greatly appreciated... I just want to put this nightmare behind me and move on. Edit: NM I just answered my own Q - admin@glados.cc

80% haircut is quite decent, I've seen people getting 91% haircuts. IS THIS SLIDING SCALE YOU PROMISED US TF??? All I asked for was 80% cut likeDumbFruit got, I used his ratio and did calculation with my balance....in return he sent me his calculation and coins without asking me if I was OK with it. I got 89% cut, and there is no logic in it(like nowhere near TF), my coins were longer with TF so he made more money on them, plus not any interest on my side is calculated, my balance was 222.7 an I got 26 back, that is just outrageous. he calculated one BTC=790$ !!! He was so cocky and shameless to tell me that if I don't like the deal return the coins!!! Can you believe? Shitting in peoples faces like this.....nothing good will come out of it for you TF, time will show, just wait and see...shame on you for treating your investors like this in the end!

TradeFortress would not have given me 20% if he didn't think he could do better for the remaining investors. If you hold out he will likely be able to make a better offer. It really is shameful for him to hide all of his financial information and make his depositors scramble for whatever they can get while having no idea what he can afford to pay. Shameful is perhaps too nice a word for it. Edit: I don't think most people realize how badly TradeFortress handled the hack. I will update the opening post with a more detailed timeline. Highlight: TradeFortress' Linode Manager console was accessed by the hacker at noon in Australia. TradeFortress had reset his password again and accessed the console 2 hours later. The coins were moved from his site at 4:00am Australian time the next day. TradeFortress did absolutely nothing to safeguard depositors coins for 14 hours after he knew that his Linode Manager was accessed by a hacker. Had he shut down the site immediately after he found out about the hack, and moved all depositors coins to an offline wallet, no one would have lost anything, and he would have had time leftover to watch Braveheart 4 times. Edit2: I have updated the opening post in the "what happened" section. I was off about some details, but the gist is the same.

In my world I call this theft. Ask yourself, would TF be so generous if the roles were reversed? Fuck no.
